Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Good interview, touched on most of the areas I wanted covered and gave me some confidence the home base is closer to reality than dream. Would've liked him to give some more detail on the clubs finances but for what it was I enjoyed it and thought you guys did a great job.

One of the things I'm wondering though is whether it is better to be an "unassisted" club on subsistence levels or whether it would be better to get a loan from the AFL to ensure more cash in our pockets. We still get some additional funds from the AFL every year so how is assisted vs unassisted classified?

I'm hoping we can raise the million by Xmas (an extra $700k going by the figures raised in the podcast) but it is disappointing to see our current membership levels. In fact it's more than disappointing it's depressing. Last night they mentioned the Saints are 1000 members off breaking their all time record, we've dropped about 15k members since last year.

Yes it was an interesting interview, thank you DL.
I was impressed to hear him talk so passionately about our history and in that context, indignation that in the MCG precinct, there is no visual indication of the existence of MFC.
collingwood can carry on all they like, but the MCG area is not their history or spiritual home. We need to exploit the fact that it IS ours.

On the selection of Pert as ceo, the agenda for the position was to deliver a home base within walking distance of the G and grow membership base. Pert clearly would have been the better qualified and experienced candidate over Mahoney.

This is the Crux

We had 58,000 members coming into 2019 and we should be aiming for 60-65,000 this year

if not for this Putrid gamestyle that is just not working

You do realise that there is a pandemic going on at the moment preventing people from attending games and hence a potential reason for not purchasing memberships.

Of course i do. But the gamestyle is killing any chance of Membership building.

Last week on the MCG in perfect conditions we were 3 Goals at 3/4 time.
it’s not acceptable. Would have loved to have heard Glen’s views on that

the Saints Phones would be running hot today.

I agree that performance has a bearing on memberships too.

No doubt COVID has cost St Kilda even more members.

All clubs would be down on Memberships this year, but 15000 is a huge slab for us

Goodwin has a responsibility to make the game attractive as well as wins. This lack of scoring was also the same problem last year. It’s not new

great work @Demonland

What planet am I on?  Not aware of humans on any other planet. Not true, really.  Do you think he is going to pull out an MCG oval from outer space and plonk it in Jolimont. we have four options, rubbish. His working committee/partners are the same fools who wasted time and money of the Jolimont proposal.  As for spiritual home, maybe 50 years ago. Note how he did not specify any as it has to be top secret from members and supporters until the deal is done. And could someone tell him we do not play home away games on a Saturday arvo for supporters to go back to a social club after a game. just imagine the rush after a night game finishes or a Sunday twilight. Further there is no mobel anywhere that works where supporters leave a ground and then go to a social club. And I know for a fact things get pretty willing in Social Clubs after someone has been at the footy all day and then kicks on at the Club. Hardly good clientele. And you reckon I am from another planet.

Administrators this is the type of abuse based on falsities that gets sites shut down. If HFf listened the working party over last 6 months involves AFL and Vic Gov and Bartlett explained where Yarra Park came from.  Calling volunteers fools is disgraceful based on falsities - deal with HFF before they wreck this site for everyone

Are they the same people who proposed the Jolimont base?   If so they are fools for thinking for one minute that would get up in that inner suburb of Melbourne.  And the same working party that proposed and spruiked Goschs paddock for a new bbase for training and admin in Jan 2018. Sounds like you dont like facts.

I suspect that a lot of those 15k were three game memberships bought by NT Govt as part of their deal for us to play 2 games in NT. As we were only playing one this year it would have suffered anyway.

Terrific interview guys, I actually listened to the episode twice! It had been a hard week and I was a little down on the club after last week's game but I really enjoyed hearing this man speak his passion for MFC. It's also refreshing hearing a guy say that when he was approached to be president he felt like 'he'd been training for this role for 30 years and was ready'. Probably not a coincidence that I ended up buying the limited edition jumper the next day :)

I like the attitude of not needing to speak in the media if it was unnecessary. And for what it's worth I thought Andy and Grape asked all the important questions so I'm not sure where this too polite stuff comes from.

I do have one question though and I hope I'm not out of school on this but when the issue of the racism came up I could see you didn't want to interject out of courtesy Andy while Glen was talking but then clarified this after the interview that Demonland doesn't allow this kind of behavior and stamps it out immediately. I just wanted to ask if a follow up was made afterwards and Glen is aware of this?

Would love to get him on again eventually, well done guys!

During the game the other evening it was announced that the saints were within 1,000 members of their all time record.  Carlton had 67,000 members in Feb, prior to covid being even heard of.  64,269 for total 2019.

Our other membership contemporaries in North currently 4,000 down and Bulldogs currently 6,000 down are holding much better than us.

Our membership is now where it was when Roos left.

When the final figures come out in about a month we will be embarrassed at the fall off the membership cliff.  And I will bet my bottom dollar that covid wasn't the primary cause.

Don't think so, DJ.  NT gov would get free tickets as a key sponsor.

All clubs have 3 game members so I doubt they are the reason our drop off is so bad:  22% on 2019 total.

Unfortunately there is little transparency by any of the clubs in how their membership numbers are calculated. To a State government it makes little difference whether they pay money or buy memberships so many clubs would be in the same boat to some degree. For businesses it gets a little more complicated due to fringe benefits tax and non deductibility of entertainment expenses.

Agreed. I rang the club on 3 seperate occasions to find out NT Member numbers

No one would tell me. Those games are merely a cash grab

i would be suprised if we had 500 NT Members

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
