Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Surely we would play Freo one week, stay in town and play Sydney the week after?

That or play there in Round 15, in Brisbane or Gold Coast Round 16 and Cairns in Round 17.

It's about a two and a half hour flight from Maroochydore to Cairns with very little road transport time to and from each airport. The road trip from Maroochydore to Metricon is just over 2 hours. In other words, there's not much difference in time to travel to Cairns or the Gold Coast to play. Is it more comfortable for the players to be in a bus or a plane for 2+ hours? And does being in a pressurised plane cabin make a difference? I think a plane is more comfortable than a bus (others may disagree) and I don't know the answer to my last question.

We played at 7 different venues in our first 9 games, and with Cairns on the list, we will have played at 9 different venues, at least, in our 17 matches this season.

St Kilda, by comparison? 5 venues so far, a 6th to come.

Adelaide? 3 venues.

And we would've played in Tassie too if the AFL had their way! It's not that they're trying to screw us it's just that they think we're a minnow who won't complain when theyre kicked around - and they're right

Plus the bus trip to the airport plus check in and wait time plus bus trip from Cairns airport to venue

More like 4.5 hours door to door. Not ideal if done on game day

I accept that there's more check-in and wait time for a plane trip than a bus trip, but the trips to and from the airport are really short at both Maroochydore and Cairns.

Why have they fixtured this as a night game?

Not a biggie - and the clubs could have asked for it - but the day matches are glorious and it seems like a lost opportunity to best showcase the region when international eyeballs may still be heightened.

They'll have to put a fluoro reflector on the boundary tree so no one runs into it.

I assume because it is what the TV broadcasters want. Frankly, I agree with them.

The players would probably prefer it at night.

There's a few high 20's/low 30's days coming up in Alice, which would mean that conditions would be near perfect for a 7:10 bounce.

On a side note. The Carlton vs Suns match in Darwin sold out in roughly ten minutes. Not sure how many tickets were on sale but the 12,000 capacity has been reduced. Almost no hope of getting into Essendon v Richmond and my brief thought of a road-trip to Traeger (~7,000) to see the Demons is looking shaky. I'm sure our Victorian-based posters on here will have little sympathy though.

Really Skuit why question a prime time Nat TV  night?

if we win our next 2 and Saints only one of next 2 we are playing for 8 spot on the night!!!

(May not be as GWS have given us another look at the 8 this round)

Agree they day vision is great but this is a footy match for Dees nit a NT tourism promotion

Ptob advertising in night will take care of that also.

Does anyone have information on Collingwood’s arrangements for this weekend’s match? Are they staying on the GC? Flying in the day of the game? The 2 hour bus trip we are taking is not ideal preparation.

Don't know but Pies are located in Maroochydore also! So work it out A 2.5 hour bus trip!!

I remember the West Coast Eagles whining about hubs.

Hopefully our club is complaining to AFL incorporated about our change of training areas.

We have to include Casey in that as well, given our home is Gosch's.

That was our decision Kev Casey !!!

Had it affected us st all ?

our worst games were at the G!!!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
