Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Also stats from the who in 2016 1.6 million people died on roadways world wide.

What a laugh. Tell us when do you become concerned by a new plague? When it exceeds deaths by all other causes by 10%, or 20%, or 100%?

Of course people die from all sorts of other causes including food poisoning for example, but if suddenly loads more people died from food poisoning you might consider there was a problem there to be addresed.  Ditto for respiratory failure.

I feel that if playing our game tonight and moving the Geelong game out by a day to next Monday would have suited the broadcasters then they probably would have been moved.

Amen to that Sue.

Good luck.

true. It's almost impossible to seperate the Essendon Covid issue from the Covid issue.

A number of sources have said Connor had broken the usual AFL Covid restrictions/rules.  If so, when is the AFL going to issue him with a penalty like 3 others have had?

I was not referring to separating the Essendon COVID issue (and wider AFL) from general COVID issues.

My call to keep it on topic has more to do with posters abusing each other. Play the ball not the man (or the woman).

I know he is the expert, but how can he say there is nothing unusual? I don't think too many people would have been tested as often as Conor has been and to go Negative, Positive, Negative in such a short timeframe seems very unusual to me.

If this is not unusual to be able to clear it in a short space of time, we are never going to get a hold of it in Victoria with asymptomatic cases. Essentially everyone would need to be tested every few days or we're flying blind.

Setting a terrible example for the community, no one else is allowed such luxuries. As much as I love football, having had to remain in isolation myself even after testing negative, I fail to see why they get a seperate set of rules to the rest of us.

I assume you appreciate that AFL players are already required to operate under a much more stringent set of rules than the rest of us. That includes greater restrictions on social contact as well as twice weekly testing. That's why different decisions can be made about how long an individual might have to isolate.

They make these sacrifices to play football, which no one else is allowed to do at this stage.

Exposure to a confirmed case needs to be a blanket rule. No exceptions. Essentially his manager argued why should he have to sit out when he is negative, which is happening to people all over the country. Football is not that important in the scheme of things.

Inconsistencies, such as this and letting people attend a rally set a poor precedent and people will continue to disrespect the rules when they are not enforced consistently and fairly to everyone.

The truth is there is no virus, or very week, in Victoria there are 127 active cases, only a hand full are in hospital, and only 2 in ICU,

I work in abattoirs, person at my work knows many at Cedar meats, out of all the postive test, no one went to hospital, no one had more then a small cold, we live in a nanny state. Say goodbye to freedom, this is the start of the nanny state, they are setting the bar low for lockdowns, be prepared for lockdown every few years, flu kill way more then 100 people every year, so are we going to lockdown always because you might get the flu, and someone else might get it, you are a killer.  Over 7400 cases only 100 death, average age 77, sorry to say people die, the price to pay  to save everyone is your freedom

Your ignorance does not excuse how offensive this is to the thousands of people in healthcare who have been working tirelessly, globally, actually dealing with the severities of it. Get your head out of your [censored], bloody pathetic.

Some nights i go to bed wondering how things would have been in the world if the age group 20 to 50  were the only group that were found to be seriously hospitalized in this dreadful pandemic. Would we care walking past them in the streets and coughing?  Would we get out of their way? Would we help/visit them? Or would we just wonder about our species continuing and care?

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
