Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What has happened to Angus Brayshaw? In 2018 he was a ball magnet with questionable skills. But was aggressive and hard at it.

Now he looks like he can't get out of 2nd gear. He looks sloppy and slow, non-competitive. He gets pushed off the ball easily and runs with a lethargic sloppy slow appearance.

He came in as a number 3 draft pick and looked a ready made player. Today he looks a shadow of the player he was.

Can someone please tell me why this has happened to him?

shoulda traded him at the end of 2018

What a stupid thing to say

He just finished 3rd in the brownlow and look destined to become a star of the competition.

We had just traded Hogan and trading Brayshaw at the time would have been a real uproar with supporters.

There's little evidence from training or Casey games that Jordon is a laser like kicker, can be good with some time and space and has penetration but has never looked classy like Rivers did immediately and isn't any quicker than Gus.

Agree, hes an honest plodder.

With the list reductions this year, i expect Jordon to be cut.

His kicking at Casey has been spot on. He's also not slower than Gus.

He was barely in the center circle throughout game and at times was on the wing.

If this is true it is bizarre! Clearly plays his best footy as a rover and we got smashed for 3 qtr against Carlton in that area. Surely he plays there next week?

I'm glad your not list manager.

Jordon will be in the starting midfield before the finals.

Brayshaw's best form came with Viney out and for his many faults Viney brings more burst at the contest, more pressure around the packs and more work rate.

In a side with Oliver, Viney and Petracca it's just hard for Gus to get the full minutes as the designated rover where he can use his smarts and clean hands in close to thrive.

And he hasn't seemed to make the kind of drastic changes to his preparation to really go to the next level physically, nor can he replicate the first year success he had in the forward line with tackle pressure and hunting the contest. I'd have him play half back but it could just as quickly end badly as go well.

I firmly believe they looked in to trading him last year. If they didn't the club was negligent. And I also think the rest of the league probably took one look at his injury history and contract and said you can have a 3rd round pick and pay part of his contract. Freo of previous years probably would've done a better deal but Longmuir is smarter than most.

You think the change would have to be made after Carlton absolutely smashed us for clearances for 3 qtr despite gawnys dominance.

north were prepared to offer him a hefty contract at the end of 2018 but instead we signed him up to a fairly decent one instead

he's one more poor year away from being worth a lot less than a third rounder

Let him play half a dozen games before trying to kill him off. He wasn't that bad yesterday and remember he came 3rd in the brownlow having had to start the year off in the 2nds.

Disagree. In the 2018 semi against the hawks, the greatest coach of the modern era opted to tag Brayshaw because he deemed him to be our most damaging midfielder. Brayshaw didn't have much influence in the middle, but went forward, took a couple of great marks and kicked 2 important goals. He's definitely not a winger, but he's not a one-trick pony either.  His downfall has been massive, but he has time to turn it around.

I'm not killing him off because I remember how good he was.

In 2018 his disposal was poor, but the feeling was he was a competitor and could find the footy. My point is we haven't seen these qualities since 2018.

Have we coached him to do something different or is it more intrinsically motivated?

Like all the other players at our club reaching their peak years, he needs to keep improving and be able to deliver a consistent minimum level of output. He's looking like being another on the long long list of talented MFC players who seem to go backwards with experience. Other than low expectations from supporters, teammates and the club in general i have no idea why this happens. You would think that all else failing, personal pride and drive would see these guys willing themselvesto be dominant.

I won't be watching a replay but I didn't think he was that bad. When he was around the clearances he did some nice things. Only played 69% game time and showed some good courage sitting under the high ball with Casboult coming. His kicking is what it is. He is not much of a wingman and with Petracca spending more time in the midfield it's unfair to expect Brayshaw to dominate with limited opportunities.

Appear completely disinterested. During the half time break was wandering aimlessly while Goodwin spoke. To drop form like he has seem to point to other issues.

This is what I am wondering. I feel like he has intrinsically lost interest. His body language and lack of competitive drive being the main catalysts

If he is not getting midfield minutes, he should be, and maybe that is why he has lost the competitive flare we saw in his first few years.

Credit where credits due then. I personally was more of mid 2019 "We can trade him for Brad Hill" typa guy. And the usual fools scoffed at it.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
