Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Laziness and selfishness. Players have been getting away with this for ages. It's crucial, especially in the forward line to run hard for a ball you know you're not going to get to create space behind you for your teammates to work in. Along with failing to shepherd for your teammates after dishing off the footy its one of things that does my head in.

WE having been watching this for the last four years  Dr. you would think that someone in the FD would notice.

Old Dee, I haven't been sleeping well. I recommend it.

Nah, I caught it whilst channel surfing.

I have a feeling a lot of the players have stopped listen or never started as well.

Anyone unhappy with our game last night need to look at some other results this weekend.

Eagles spanked by last year's wooden spooners.

Giants beaten at home by a Roos team that traveled up on the same day.

Just have to take the wins no matter how we get them.

Rubbish, Eagles will not be down for long. Gold Coast have overtaken us and already have a second gamer who is better than any of our players bar, Gawn. No interest in Roos V Giants but Giants are still miles ahead of us.

Gold.

GC have overtaken us off the back of one game.  It's their first win in 17 matches but that constitutes overtaking us.

And he has little interest in the Roos and Giants because it doesn't fit the narrative.

Love it.

Actually the Roos and Hawks are the teams we have to match before we get into the big time.

The sad news is that we are probably still short of them. At this stage we should be ahead of Port but we are at the near bottom.

Injury free we win a few more games...maybe as many as eight for the season but you can never help but wonder what might have been with a better coach.

Whilst I'm sure he'll be better for the run, I prefer Smith up forward...

God knows we were crying out for a target at half forward yesterday.

Agree re Petty, he looks cumbersome but seems to get to the right spots.  Where is he at the moment? Or just not best 22...

According to the website an indefinite groin injury Buzzy.  Sadly we haven't had a consistent impact regular goal kicking KPF at the MFC since Neitz and that feels like a lifetime ago now.

MFC had more than a year to plan for the loss and replacement of a blue chip ,once in a generation forward in Hogan. And what do we do, quickly rush at a deal for a CHB we play at full back. That play has thrown our goal to goal line completely out of whack and something we are still playing with like deckchairs on the titanic.

When we lost Hogan we had TMac who had kicked 53 goals in 20 games and we had Weideman who had taken the finals by storm.

But we had OMac and Frost as our key defenders.

Hindsight, hindsight, hindsight.

On that lever kick I criticised him for floating that kick (a technique issue) and not putting it to fritters advantage (which given the situation had to be his right side so if he couldn't mark he get get it over the line).

But you're right why were there not more dees players in that area. As you say that was where he had to kick it. It was actually 5 v 2 in that area. We were super lucky we won that ball as if they won it, as they probably should have, it would have gone straight back inside their 50. We got it inside our 50 and that was that.

The other thing I found perplexing was why at least one player didn't gut run to provide a short option. Even if lever doesn't kick it to them it stretches their coverage and mitigates against an out number.

Agree with this.

Smith and TMac just stood in the defensive 50 doing nothing. Presumably crossing their fingers that Lever would find a magic target on a wing full of Carlton players and they'd be OK.

Too often we see too many of our players failing to gut run when we need it. TMac is a senior player. Inexcusable. We see it from Jones, Brayshaw and Oliver as well. It's not good enough.

Ive always argued the importance of having 3 talls to have up forward. Always. Despite being knocked for it, i still think its crucial.

3 key forwards and not 2 and a utility.

One at best gets injured and the other loses form and hey how come we dont have a forward line.

By all means get a strong defence but lets kick goals to defend in the first place.

Given our recent lack of quality crumbers, the club has been shortsighted in not concentrating on this issue.

Well, gotta say you have no idea. Hogan was a star who made defenders nervous with his talent and allowed McDonald to play second fiddle.  If you think Lever is a major improvement on Frost or McDonald, well good for you. Could not care less.

Is it time to trial May at FF and move T-Mac down back once again?  Either that or play T-Mac only from the square as we did in 2018.  Looks completely lost higher up the ground lately.

At this point in time our structure is non existent forward of centre in the two key forward positions.

Your problem is you dont like newish people here having opinions.

And your problem is you don't like people disagreeing with yours.

What are you basing this idea of GC overtaking us on?  The fact they rolled a sub par Eagles side on their home deck in slippery conditions?  They have a long, long, long way to go before they overtake anyone to be honest.  They might have some young talent, but they've had that before and done little with it.  Let's wait and see how this season, strange as it is, pans out before we start making the big statements.

Classic Melbourne, making a win feel like a loss. Main concern is Goodwin was our coaches by a rookie. Teague adjusted his structure to fix our midfield dominance and Goodwin didn’t know how to respond.

My take is he never seems to respond, with moves on the field, instructions or looking at him in the coaches box, and then there are cliches after every game......  but a win is a win is a win, better than losing  enjoy a beer!

We take the w any time thank you. The 1st qtr was great to watch, our pressure on them with the ball was the reason we took control ourselves and created more opportunities, together with Gawn and our centre dominance of course. Five goals too zippo, two more in the 2nd and then the blues started pressuring us and we just did our predictable thing, nothing! It appears we’ve learnt very little as a team, and that word “team” makes me very skeptical of our prospects going forward. Unfortunately I just don’t see the working hard and awareness for one another that is clearly in the good “teams”. We are still who we are and have been for too long, not very good. Go Dee’s.

Yep, here's the problem with posters like you. You excuse poor performances. You'd be the kind that hangs around the players race after a 10 goal loss to pat them on the back.

The whole culture of the club is one that accepts mediocrity. Here we are playing a terrible team indoors and we burst out of the blocks and then completely capitulate. No on field leaders, a coaching panel that hasn't a clue and a supporter base that says 'oh well, its bette r than losing'.

Until we lose that pathetic acceptance of sub-par performances and demand 4 qtr consistent efforts we will be a terrible football club.

But you'll be on your rocking chair mumbling to yourself 'it'll be our year next year'.

Good luck with that.

Sorry f head, never been positive after 10 goals loss not even a 1 point loss, never pat anyone in the back for trying hard, there is no try there is only win or lose. Find any post where I am happy  with a loss always happy with any win. Poster like you make me sick, you are the terrible supporters Roos was talking about, the Vail of negativity that's no help to no one. If I see another negative post from you after a good win I will spew up,. Not that last night is a good win, but that never matters to you, you  are negativity whether it's 10 goal win or a 1 point win.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
