Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bennell? We've heard good news about him when we've been in lockdown, including that he might even be ready come the restart, if that's the case where is he?

From this article yesterday.

Bennell is training with Melbourne's secondary midfield group, along with former captain Nathan Jones, and effectively free of the restrictions he had when he started at the club in December.

The only part of Monday's session he didn't complete was some of the running, after his Gosch's Paddock hitout two days earlier with one-time Gold Coast teammate Luke Russell.

Bennell and the Demons, like the rest of the AFL, will resume full-contact training from next Monday, which will also enable him to prove himself in match simulation ahead of games returning from June 11.

Thanks for those great photo's Demonland, the boys look fit and happy and what a great presence Jake Lever has, how lucky are we that we were able to lure him to our club, I cannot wait for the real stuff to start. Go Dee's...!!!

Some great photos posted here. To any of the track watchers in attendance, how is Oscar Mac going? I feel he will be an important part of our back 6 this year. Also has anyone spoken to Harley and how he is feeling? From media reports it seems like he is in a good space and his calves are holding up well. Might get along to training when they are back at Gotch's.

Just a question , Sue, if we didn't play the way that we are supposed to, what was different that happened after Qtr time?

Because we actually kept with them, didn't we, for the rest of the game score wise, which unfortunately i didn't see?

Sadly watching on TV makes it hard to see what's going wrong or right much of the time (thanks 7 and Fox for all those useless close-ups of players who have taken a mark/free kick), so I don't know what went better after Q1 (but I do know who shaved the best that morning).

Drawing any conclusions from that match is fraught for lots of reasons.  Pity the AFL didn't  hold off announcing the ceassation of footy until after that match to at least remove arguing about that deflating factor.

what's the significance of the pink singlets?

Would assume they indicate you are on the opposition for a drill considering they are all wearing the same guernsey underneath.

when is pay tv going to wake up to alternative camera and commentary streams. They had it in the cricket (eagle eye or similar) so why not the football. A fixed camera behind both goals for you to select from. Should be almost zero costs as the camera is unmanned and the streaming cost is negligible.

Alternative commentaries come at a cost but frankly I'd prefer work experience kids to Bruce and his "special" !!

West Coast put the cue in the rack at quarter time. We never got within 20 points after that point and never looked like doing so.

For anyone taking positives from the game, Lever suggested that the club were fuming after our round 1 performance and were bitterly disappointed after an encouraging Marsh Series.

It's hard to take a positives when the margin hovered between 28 and 40 points for the majority of the second half.

And the mistakes and turnovers we caused we every bit of 2019.

We will likely be a better team than our round 1 showing once we start playing mediocre and rubbish sides.

First time poster, long term (occasional) lurker

Totally agree sue.

Once the decision was made that the season was going to be  postponed they simply had to call that game off.

It was dangerous not to do so.

They were told the season was on hold little more than an hour before the game (after a week or so of speculation it would be)

The players heads would have been spinning, particularly our boys who faced a plane trip home not a taxi.

It was hard enough watching that  game let alone playing. I felt sick wirh the thought of a player getting injured and in shock about the pandemic.

At that point it seemed the most likely scenario was that the season would be called off. And our boys played accordingly. As did the eagles.

Remarkable to think given how poor we were that they only won by 27 points. They'd just about take that

I agree that the announcement would have impacted our preparation and I heard Max say something to that effect, but playing Devil's Advocate, it didn't seem to be a problem for the Eagles. I want us to become a side that doesn't get rattled by outside influences and can cope regardless of the situation.

I agree with what you are saying but I think that's a fail for the coach. He should have said this is the last game you will get. We owe the eagles for the humiliation we have had since that defeat over here.

you are better than that. You are better than them. Get out there and humiliate them.

If the coach can't rev the side up in these rare times how is he going to do it week after week.

i like Goody and hope he can prove me wrong. Get it done Goody

Go Dees!!

Some good photos from today’s session on the club’s website. Training three days in a row, back with a bang.

Are they building stands out at Casey? There’s a big grey structure beyond the fence in some of the photos.

We'll see how good they are when they have to hopefully play more of their games, this crazy mixed up season, in places where they aren't welcome.....

As i said if it had have been Collingwood and Essendon they would have kicked up such a row that the Media and Eddy would have said it's a dead rubber and played again at a later date. And i bet the AFL told West Coast long before us... before we got on the plane even...

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
