Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Geelong could potentially get 8 games at Kardinia Park. Massive home ground advantage which no other club will get.

As to travel there are eight interstate teams which will mean each Melbourne based team should travel 4 times. (Assuming home and away games against interstate teams are evenly spread. You could in theory have a team such as Collingwood play all interstate teams as their home games and the Melbourne based teams as away games...But of course the AFL would not allow that.)

Where it gets complicated is if Hawks and North play in Tasmania and of course who draws the short straw of going to Darwin to play the Suns.

No reason that the big Melbourne clubs should not travel to Tasmania and/or Darwin but we know that wont happen.

Finally there's our game in Alice Springs to think about.

It will be interesting. I see geelong want to play there games down at there ground because crowds won't be an issue. I hope the AFL send collingwood and essendon down there. Give them a go at that ground.

And Richmond!

My hope is no games in Geelong or Tassie. Reality is that won't happen...

Each club should travel once to Perth, Sydney, Queensland & Adelaide (except of course the clubs based there). The WA and SA clubs will play more games in NSW/QLD due to their governments policies

But that would give those teams experience of playing there which would help them when they play there in future. Oh, wait.....

Yes apparently Cats want to exclusively play out of Geelong.  On that logic same to apply with home tenants at Mcg and marvel - who’s the cats going to play?  Interstate visitors ???

does that include away games against Melbourne clubs ?

We will play either:

Dogs

Saints or;

Roos

Because the AFL will set the other big Victorian clubs up to play each other first up.

I think we will still have our trip to Geelong and a trip to Tassie but I can only hope, but we also have to consider that we have already got an away match under our belt so really in theory we should be dropping at least one of the tough trips we had left.

It would be a dream if we managed to play the cats at the G and see the Pies be sent down there. But I just have this sneaking suspicion that even though there is no reason for them to gain this advantage, the likes of the Pies and Tigers will still be given a dream run at the G.

You'd hope in theory they would look to give the teams that finished lower last year a better run of home games in the interest of fairness.

If crowds are a possibility in Alice Springs I hope we retain that game.

Correct. It will be StKilda.

You'd think that with one WA trip already out of the way and us having been being scheduled to play Freo at home on the previous fixture that the AFL would have other clubs in their sights when it comes to potential trips across the Nullarbor. I'd be happy to play both Qld sides away back to back if we can do the same at home against GWS and Sydney, if that makes things a little less complicated.

How accurate is Jon Ralph? He’s saying there’s a possibility the first block will be released today. If not today, Monday at the very least.

One thing they are waiting for is the logistics to be determined for the SA round 2 game. SA govt are refusing to allow people such as umpires TV cameramen etc to fly in. They will need to be locally based.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
