Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Left the Demons in 1990, after playing in 2 games for 2 wins.  The last of those was against the Eagles at Subiaco, round 8, 1989.  We overcame a 14 point deficit at 3/4 time to win by 2 points.  Kavanagh kicked a goal.

Dead set one of my all time favorite Dees.

Gave us fantastic value at C.H.B after crossing from Adelaide.

Great judgement of the ball in the air, gutsy as hell, good 1 on 1 but had the prerequisite ordinary kicking foot on him.

He had an ugly kicking action, but the ball generally went where it was intended.

Kowal played just over 100 games, that's borderline obscure to me.

my criteria is nobody bringing up his name in the 3 or 4 yrs ive been lurking and posting. Marcus Seecamp is another, not obscure, but i think im the only one ive ever seen bring him up! i think it was a convo with you Rod about bringing in some muscle to stand up to opposition belting Gawn behind play.

Great post.

Marcus Seecamp was a player who I would love in our side now.

Solidly built half-back who would run through a bus crash to defend a team mate. Hard as woodpeckerlips.

A 195cm player who measured 185cm in height.

Ted Fidge played 42 games for us, and in last year of 1988 only played the one game ... but what a game!

We were playing Collingwood at Waverley and Fidgey snotted Magpie star and matchwinner Darren Millane hard enough for Pants to have no further impact on the game (may have even been carried off).  Young Ted copped six weeks from the tribunal and we never saw him again.  We won the game by the way!

At that game and visibly recall the Fidge- Millane 'incident' to this day. Ted rather publicly and mistakenly retaliated to sly whack from  Millane, during the play, with a powerful right cross to the head. Millane was dazed, confused and on very rubbery legs. So much for the faux tough image, Millane attempted to project on the footy field. Unfortunately for Ted,  Swooper massively disapproved, it was Ted's last senior appearance and he was delisted at seasons end. The match itself? After an three goal opening burst by the Magpies, a fabulous Brian Wilson lead recovery by the Demons, who stormed back to secure a memorable victory.

How about Matthew Collins, he played about 20 odd games, but injury limited his time with us. Came to us from Adelaide with Brent Wiliams for Nathan Bassett ( a couple more for the obscure list, though neither played a game for us)

He was memorable for his large tattoo of an Indian on his arm.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
