Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

There’s a couple of hours of my life I’ll never get back. I’m glad I know they worked so hard off season as if I didn’t Id swear theyre playing exactly the same way and repeating Exactly the same mistakes. Boring footy. Nothing team. I’m glad I don’t have to watch that [censored] for 10 more weeks.

There are a few good points for a new coach to work on in your statement. There seems to be no player excitement left.

We reckon last year was an exception I think the one before was.

How come WC had so many intercept uncontested marks in OUR forward line > Because we continue to bomb it in .

Hibberd has been practicing by kicking it to cardboard cutouts it seems. Well in this short season these cutouts actually move ( especially the opposition ones )

Viney was great so I will cut him some slack for a couple of poor disposals. Brayshaw came good when he was on the ball. Trac has arrived , he loves short seasons.

Pickert shows Jeffie when he was fit, a good first up effort.

Sorry , but Spargo has not quite come along and Browne must be waiting for Weids to be fit.

MAy & OMac kept Kennedy & Darling relatively quiet.

Some positives, but completely undone by the way the ball was delivered into the Fwd line !!!!!

Lazy display of one way running, absolute down hill skiers with no defensive work rate.
Forwards were mostly pathetic, especially in the air, no improvement on 2019.

if only the players were as good as our marketing team, now for the Goodwin sugar coat ???

Let’s face it, Hibberd, Oscar and Spargo should never play a senior game again.

Think you are wrong about Omac, but he is a one paced player and when the better players are having their pants pulled down he gets the blame.

Plenty of endeavour but all the old problems still there in my view. Langdon and Tomlinson were OK but managed to kick blindly into the forward 50 and to the opposition. Gawn and Oliver struggled. Viney close to bog and good work from Kossie and Lockhart but really is it about players or our systems?

That is the problem, totally coupled with his ideas and decision-making.

The club really has a lot to answer for. What a terrible performance.

'To hell and back'... what a joke. What a pitiful performance. Once again we are all talk.

Lets talk about the game plan. Back in 2018 when we were actually winning games I posted on here that I hated our game plan. Fwd press no matter what. Bomb it into our forward line as quick as you can and try to lock it in. The quick transition out means that the opposition get the easiest of goals. It's terrible to watch. Simply terrible. My heart is in my mouth the whole game.

When I brought it up on here, a regular poster said that this isnt what our game plan is and nearly a direct quote... "Do you think Goody is telling them to bomb it to the opposition?" A few weeks later Goody confirms that our game plan is 'Chaos ball'.

I've given Goody time, because he keeps saying that we need to improve 'the connection with our forwards' but he isnt delivering on these words. I find his media talk quite confusing and hard to listen to. I assumed this was just his persona to the media, but maybe this is just his communication style and the players arent getting it.

3 years in and we continue to bomb it in. It's simply not good enough.

I cannot see how we had Paul Roos defensive first/limit fumbles game plan and then have transitioned into this rubbish.

We used to talk on here about 'Coach Killers' when a player would put in a terrible performance. Well... right now, Goody is a 'Player Killer'. No one enjoys being beaten like this. The players heads go down so quickly because they have to try and sprint back to stop the quick transition. They are physically and mentally spent by quarter time. They are clearly not enjoying playing the game.

One thing there needs fixing: kicking into the forward line. Langdon (who played a great game otherwise) was the main offender, but just so many of them coming through the middle were unable to do anything much more than bomb it in. On that score, felt like we really missed Jones and Salem.

I actually thought Hibberd was worse. I counted at least half a dozen occasions he literally kicked it long to West Coast players with no Melbourne players even near them.

What the... I thought he along with May and Lever gave us something to build our defence around.  Hibberd and Jetta worry me.  Lockhart was great.

I might be on my own here, but I reckon you got to cut them some slack. I think all the uncertainty of the past 2 or 3 weeks got to them. There was no energy of the Marsh series and training pre COVID19. So I'm gunna shrug my shoulders and write this one off... NO judgement

Feels deeper than one or two players. We were pretty much making it look hard all over the ground. To be fair they’re a very very good side....and to be fair we’re just not.  Unfortunately I think a 5 goal loss is a good result for the mediocre team we are.

I swore at the telly as if there were 21 rounds to go! We have to punish the blokes who can't hit a relatively easy target... Tonight that means Spargo -> Out... Lever -> one more chance... Tomlinson -> slap on the wrists... Jetta -> naughty boy!...

Worse than that ... These blokes gave us below par effort in the first half

T McDonald, Melksham, Brayshaw, Oliver, Fritsch

Great debut Kossie!

Great game Viney!

It was a mistake not to play Jackson!

Deja Vu! Non existent delivery into a non existent forward line

I don’t think it’s an ability issue so much as a structural issue.  I have lost confidence in Goodwin

Did we learn nothing from the 2018 Prelim ?

Don't lose heart BBO.  If we just keep bombing it in often enough, for long enough it will surely turn around at some point.

Our forward line looks potent on paper and will turn things around over the next 8 weeks mark my words.   Just need a bit of time to sort themselves and organise things!

And then there's that zonal defence.  Working a treat and no sign of wavering.

Goody's got this!

Brown is a horrible footballer and should never play again. I was an apologist for Spargo - no more. He was worse than hopeless. Hibberd is one of the main turnover offenders. Jeffy had a mare. Tomlinson gave little to be excited about.

The main positives were Viney,  Kozzie and Lockhart.

Goodwin has a lot to answer for.

When Petty is fit we might actually have big forward.

Perhaps. But won't make a difference the way the ball's coming in. Tom Mac, Fritsch, Melksham, Petracca when he's there ... they're all good forwards that would walk into any team in the league.

Harsh

Perhaps I am being harsh on Oscar dazzle I apologise. I probably emphasise on the negatives more than his positives...he just really leaves me underwhelmed as a whole, but 1 goal and 8 possessions for Darling is commendable for Oscar’s efforts you’re right.

This game was just a kick in the balls for the rejuvenated hope I gained since last August..

Come on you cannot blame Goodwin,  he didn't kick it to their backmen in our forward line, In fact he Goodwin didn't get a kick.

He had no influence.....and no idea......but then neither do eye.

was looking forward to this game   now i need a break, or a mexican beer!

how do I cancel the automatic renewal !

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
