Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL site is reporting the Eagles Football manager Craig Vozzo as saying that all games in the Queensland hub will be considered away games for the Eagles. If this holds true for Freo and the two SA clubs the number of interstate trips required by the Melbourne clubs will jump.

Add to this that teams will be flying up and back on the same day for interstate matches on chartered aircraft and it makes road trips particularly difficult.

Eagles have played the AFL sympathy card well and are looking good for a top two finish is my bet.

"The Eagles are ramping up their preparations for their month-long stint at the Gold Coast high performance centre, with no players so far making themselves unavailable for the trip.

Vozzo said he understood the games in Queensland will all be considered 'away' games for the Eagles."

Read on the paper that WCE have a war chest of $20mill in cash, Rich nearly $30mill and Hawthorn about $40mill. The Bulldogs see no need to accept AFL COVID handouts either due to cash reserves.

FMD, how can we possibly catch up?

Could someone please remind me again of the connection between Clint Stanaway and the Dees* (has his dad been a trainer)?

Another 'club promo' on nine news tonight. We're certainly getting our fair share of publicity.

All those game should only involve the other intestate sides because they are all closer, as well the port and crows are already there, make sense it will be easier for the Sydney sides to travel to Queensland then WA.

That gets you to the end of round 8.

If Eagles etc have only played away prior to Round 8 they will have played away 7 times. At most they will need to play away two more times and of course one of those away games could be against Freo in Perth. It will then mean that following Round 7 Melbourne teams will on average be playing interstate once every two weeks while the likes of Crows and Eagles will not travel again.

The Eagles will have their revenge not to mention a massive home  ground advantage. It is lucky that Brisbane are an okay team or we could quite likely see the Eagles going 8-0 and then having 8 or nine games in Perth.

Am I being completely delusional or does anyone else think there’s a sneaky chance of limited crowds by September?

Some big announcements by the VIC government today with the June 22 development, EG - 50 people in cinemas.

D Barrett on the Sunday footy show alluded to the possibility of crowds coming back at some stage.

I think Stanaway is a diehard Melbourne supporter, and nothing more.

Could be wrong through.

Clint's father John was given life membership of the club in 2018 in recognition of his services as Head Trainer:

Premature I would think...

...and how would they decide who gets into the games & where do they sit.

One in, all in or one out, all out...I reckon.

Tickets would go on sale on a certain date for MCC, AFL and club members on a first come first served basis.

And tickets would be sold so that groups or singles are sitting by themselves.

I think logistically it could work ok.

I guess I'm one of the non believers...I think it will be a miracle if we get 17 rounds of footy let alone any crowds.

I'm more than happy to be proven wrong.

...but at the moment I think we may be in a fools paradise.

How would that work? So west coast plays Adelaide in Brisbane and it's a Crows home game? They play all other interstate sides and they are always the away team so the other teams get lumped with home games at away venues? I don't see how that could work, they will be playing home games at neutral venues just like us in NT and Hawks/North in Tas.

Wouldn’t be too hard to social distance at a Melbourne game... Richmond games on the other hand....

I’m almost expecting fans to be allowed to late season home and away games on a first in best dressed basis, the way restrictions are being eased so rapidly.

NRL want fans back July 1.

Surely a better system would be for club members to get first dibs on 'booking' a ticket, rather than having masses of people lining up outside a ground trying to get in.

Fingers crossed fans will be allowed back in for the last part of the season, or at least for finals! Would be a terrible shame to have finals with no crowds.

Sorry, that's what I meant. Just didn't explain myself well.

AFL, MCC and club members book online on a first in first served basis for each category.

Under this scenario, non members won't be permitted to games which is unfortunate but fair.

The way restrictions are quickly being wound back, I expect crowds in the second half of the season if the appropriate social distancing rules are in place and followed.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
