Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What a surprise...

Sydney Swans CEO says Sydney would make a great hub......

“It’s as much about promoting the game in New South Wales and providing those opportunities for the development of the game rather than winning an inherent advantage by playing the game in Sydney,” he said. “If there’s a genuine hub environment, once you’re in, you’re in.”

Well 'Jim', I guess if you're going to have a hub why not put it in a city that has the highest number of people with the virus. A city that has shown it knows how to set up good quarantine measures...

They did such a good job with the Ruby Princess...what could possibly go wrong?

If the AFL can't play without a hub, then don't play.

The whole idea is just too dangerous.

Think 100's/1,000's of people isolated in the same area, think cruise ships...

The word "confirmed" is being used loosely. I think the NRL has "confirmed" that it is still its intention to commence 28 May but the NRL's plans still need to be signed off by relevant Government authorities and probably others, such as broadcasters, players, venues, etc. There is also the small matter of working out how to get the NZ team here. That problem in itself may delay the start of the NRL season to mid-June.

Pert doesn't seem to be doing a bad job (relatively early days) but I really wish we still had Jackson at our club.

The NRL fiasco continues,,,,

In a statement released on Thursday night the Nine Network said it was “premature” for the league to push ahead with a season re-start when it claims no broadcast deal is in place for the 2020 season.

Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V’landys had reportedly hoped to broker an agreement with Nine and Foxtel before the end of the week — but Nine’s second scathing statement towards the game’s top officials suggests the parties remain at logger heads.

It comes just a few weeks after Channel 9 launched a first scathing attack on the NRL and former CEO Todd Greenberg where the broadcaster accused the NRL of “squandering” millions in broadcast revenue.

The binman solution gathers pace....

I'd be happy to accept AFL life membership as a recognition of my contribution

But if the NRL pinches your idea and it helps them survive instead of foundering in their own cesspit of a "sport", then you will be banned from AFL..........

An interesting perspective given PJs reticence to endorse pert on the demonland podcast

chicken and egg argument I'm afraid. If we had the money and the opportunity I would give it credence but really it's just an argument for a competing financial priority.

Anyway .. all irrelevant now........ we'll be lucky to afford a tent or at most a used portable class room on the edge of the Paddock for the next few years.

Another two weeks of lockdown here until May 12 and no signs of it being lifted. Ramadan starts today so best wishes to all who are fasting.

We should take the glass half full approach. By being behind other clubs in developing a modern, world class training facility we won't be left with a huge maintenance bill to maintain a white elephant in the post Covid AFL.

Wasn't PJ all for the Yarra Park/Jolimont Rail proposal? That would've cost a mint.

Perhaps his changed view now is simply being realistic in light of huge future budget restraints.

What he says in the article certainly has merit: list quality, the right people and good culture are more important than having league best facilities.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
