Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Most hated teams

Understand that point of view. For me, 'intensity of dislike' echoes rather than 'hated', and is as follows:

1. The Filth

2. Portal Ade

3. Ad Laid Cwoes

4. Wee Gals

5. Gold Coast

6. Wrong side of Sydney

7. Sydney

8. Fremantle

9. Whoreform

10. Essendrug

11. Catty Puts

Others are tolerable as we need to additionally beat something to make the final 4 teams.

The fact that two of those anagrams are based where you currently live probably doesn't help matters.

I'm quite sure the world would be better off without Essendon. They add nothing and take so much.

West Coast should be made to walk any time they play over here in the civilized world.

Hawthorn I would wish to condemn to thirty years of not so much total failure as perpetual mediocrity.  The curse of the levitating potato.

Generally the rest I have either a grudging respect for or a polite indifference.

Easily Hawthorn for mine. Their generation of supporters post 1985 have known nothing but success. The ones who crossed over from us to them in the 1970's were soft [censored] to begin with and couldn't handle our winters of discontent in that decade. Most of their older supporters who lived through their dark times have now passed on, robbing any character from that club whatsoever. What you then get is a highly entitled support base who don't appreciate the success that generations past built for them.
Look at how the Doggies and Tiges fans appreciated their flags. Then look at a-holes like Jeffrey Kennett, and tell me you don't know what I'm talking about.

Yes has to be the Dorks for my generation anyway. In 1971 they won their second flag, we had 12, now they have the same or more. I then watched thugs like Matthews king hit players through the 70’s and generally get smashed then we finally get to finals in 87 and we get dudded after the siren after Dipper had taken out Flower. I have never got over that. Then the 88 final but we were never in it or likely to be in it. There was the 1996 merger game and many more. Sorry I just hate the Hawks. Other sides to me are just competitors, to be challenged not hated. As for Collingwood, our traditional foe, when it counted we usually won.

best demonland thread of the off season!

My hatred of meth coke and it’s supporters has been constant for 25+ years - that mid 80s established franchise is as fake and cheap as a coolabah goon bag wine cask. Any success they’ve had in the past 30 years is clouded by drug scandals and funded by deep pockets. As a generalisation, their supporters are imbecilic theatregoers who honestly don’t know why they boo.

Dishonourable mentions to essendrug and Geelong

Hawthorn - the arrogance of their supporters is unbelievable.  Decades of slow painful non-competiveness would be a fitting fair for this mob.

Daylight second

Essendrug

Carlscum

West Coast  - I actually wish the AFL would introduce a popular 3rd WA team, just to help break up WC's finacial monopoly a bit more and reduce their dominance as an AFL power.

GWS

St Kilda before we broke our hoodoo against them

North

Perhaps the crows.

I actually don't mind some of the other interstate sides, except when we loose to them or loose players to them.

Every club's supporters has a few half back flankers, although the standouts in this regards are probably those listed above 1 - 4.

Collingwood and Footscray supporters are just garden variety inbreds.

Melbourne supporters use to be the wealthy man's club, but I think a lot of the well to do band wagon jumpers have followed the success, so I hardly think we hold that title anymore.

The Adelaide Crows - I vividly recall the handwritten signs being held by their supporters at Football Park in the early nineties  saying “Kick A Vic”, and thinking “Whoa, that’s a bit much.” I mean, team rivalry is one thing, but holding signs suggesting random acts of low-level violence against  another state’s citizen’s left a bit of a nasty taste in my mouth that often comes back when I’m watching games at Football Park.

Hawthorn, Carlton & Essendon - if you grew up in the eighties, then you would have been surrounded by ten year-old twerps who were jumping on one of these team’s smarmy bandwagons in the playground, and lauding it over the other kids who barracked for seemingly non-existent, loser teams. These kids grew up soft. They tasted glory far too easily, far too young, and in their adult years still don’t know the true meaning of pain.

I particularly hated Hawthorn amongst these three, because even at a young age before I had any real appreciation for aesthetics, I couldn’t understand how anybody could proudly display the colours of brown and yellow on their person/car/glass-bottomed speedboat.

West Coast - Don Johnson and Fabio are walking along on a golden beach together, and stumble across a chest buried in the sand. They open the chest and it’s filled with hair dryers, teeth whitener, cocaine and cash. They take the chest to the nearest house, which belongs to Alan Bond, and the three of them celebrate heavily together for the next fifty years. This is the West Coast Eagles to me. It doesn’t need to make sense.

I don’t mind the rest as much.

Except perhaps the Sydney Swans. That Edelstein/Capper (both Warwick & Joanne)/Pink Helicopter/Swanettes period was kind of hard-going and a little on the irredeemable side. I dunno, maybe it was great.

Essendon by a fair way.

I am always taken back when I am chatting with a seemingly decent human who reveals they support Essendon. It’s like them revealing they are a Scientologist, only more shameful.

All teams except Swans (admire their culture), Gold Coast (who cares!) and Brisbane (soft spot for Fitzroy).

The rest I rank as follows:

1. West Coast (ignorant supporters, cheats).

2. Hawforn. Beat us when it matters.

3. Essendon. Filth. Long on Symonds, Wallis on teenagers... Sheedy.

4. Geelong. Idiotic supporters.

5. Adelaide. Soft Cox, whingers.

6. Tigers. Used to be decent supporters. Now unbearable.

7. Carlton. For poaching Barassi. We never recovered.

8. Collingwood. Was taught at a young age to hate them. Supporters beating up Nathan Jones' dad.

9. Norf. Shitkicker club that beat us 20 times in a row.

10. Bulldogs. Always have umps in their back pocket!

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
