Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I thought once Gawn was subbed off that we failed to readjust quickly enough after half time. Took us 10-15 minutes to finally readjust which coincided with when hawks had control in the third. Once we'd adjusted we were all over them defensively and in the midfield.

My only negative is the foward line structure, which again was highlighted early in the third as without Max and Brown not playing, we consistently had one less player in the forward line to lead or kick to, resulting in constant kicks to out numbered situations.

Had a few DD? Having a differing opinion is great and needed but you really do offer zero value here. You just tend to slag people off rather than give anything back. It’s an Internet forum for Dees fans in case you missed that part.

Don't care what anyone says. It was a nice change to spend a quiet Friday night and watch Melbourne win a game of football, especially against Hawthorn.

Let's hope we're allowed to attend the football this year. Don't want to see it cancelled, or played in empty stadiums.

It just looks like we are better structured game plan wise ,and those two wingers give us a dimension we’ve been lacking for a very long time.

Our fitness is the icing on the cake , really gives us an edge, and a belief to run out games and run over the top in the last quarter.

Melksham and Fritsch are going to be a fantastic forward duo this year if they can play 20+ games together. Both seriously skilled and classy footballers.

Viney was BOG but how annoying was Huddo trying to dob Jack in for his sling tackle on Stratton. I concede it wasn’t a good look but Stratton wasn’t hurt.

We still bomb the ball into forward line. 2 weeks to get our backs and mids to lower their eyes and forwards to lead at the ball carrier, thus allowing the smalls to come in and crumb.  Otherwise a good game with limited involvement from Gawn & Jones playing only a half and a fairly quiet game from Oliver. Looking forward to the Weagles.

Fritsch to kick 70+

Melksham is a gun

May, Lever, Lockhart yes yes yes

Langdon and Tomlinson brilliant recruits

Bring on Round 1.. no excuses.

Bedford was lively as well. Great win. Hawthorn played their tricks, conned the umpires as well, the Dees overran them in the second half. Sad to see Scully knocked over so many times - I had to hold back the tears! Marty Hore and Petty should play the backline with Harmes, Hibberd, Salem, May and Lever.

Highlight of the preseason was Langdon and Tomlinson's two way running stopping us from being carved up time and again in transition. I can't recall many loose goals out the back if any through the pre season. It's something that has been irritating to watch for numerous seasons so I'm glad it's been addressed.

Considering the amount of entries we were getting inside 50 tonight the delivery, structure and personnel was an issue for us at times. I think Brown added a fair to our structure in the games he's played as well as Pickett. Jackson is probably capable of playing a role as ruck/fwd in place of Weideman so that's also encouraging.

Viney looks fit and back to his best, in that type of form he's a top 25-50 player in the comp.

After playing well last week against North Spargo was barely sighted. Pickett or Bedford could potentially add a bit more in that role.

Hibberds disposal at times was worrying along with a few others in the back half. It's only preseason so hopefully they iron that out and it's not a trend.

Overall they must be pretty happy with the pre season. The area of improvement they would want out of tonight is converting the midfield dominance on the score board with inside 50 efficiency. Lots to be encouraged by with the other games and most parts of tonight.

Always good to beat those ugly brown and golds, in anything.

If my wife is happy to call them the Poo's and Wee's, I think you should adopt the description also.

Some really good signs.
This side, fully fit, can contend for top 4.

Goodwin has tweaked the game style slightly by holding onto the hall a little more and less ‘play on’ at all costs game style.

Entries into F50 are still a worry. Would like more structured ‘lead up’ mark and goal plays.

Not convinced with Harmes in the backline. Reckon he's wasted there. Performed heaps better in 2nd half when thrown on the ball and forward. Put Salem back in his spot and throw him back into the middle even if it is off the bench.

Pickett, Lockhardt, Bedford - all in - big threats to defensive lines. Drop Weed, put in Preusse when fit again. Drop OMac. Marty Hore is a must for the backline in tandem with Lever and Harmes.

And this might be why our tall forwards are just going, and low on confidence.

Impressed by Jackson, obviously he was outmuscled by a mature AFL player in Ceglar but he’s got some real class and great agility for a big man

He looks to be a quick learner. He adjusted his position at ruck contests & improved by the minute. Was holding his own with Ceglar by the end. Would like to see him occasionally drop back at ball-ups around the ground & use his leap. Got far more involved in general play & had a couple of really nice moments

Our setup is still wrong. We push up to high. Geddy Lyon had it right. We need a forward deep at all times to stretch the opposition defensive zone & provide a lead up target

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
