Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFLW: Round 4 vs Collingwood

Lauren Pearce is a massive in if fit.

Parry is a tall forward, so hopefully she can help us be more efficient inside 50, although we become very tall with Cunningham, Zanker, Scott and Hore down there as well. Maybe Scott moves into the midfield, even though she has been our best forward the last two weeks.

Goldrick was important in the first two rounds so it is good to see her named as well.

We would want to play better than last week. Lets see if we can kick straight inside an indoor stadium. Cunningham for a big one.

This will be the difference between winning and losing.

Make or break game for finals.

Both teams in the same Conference and both on 8 points.  Pies second and Dees 4th on the Conference B Ladder.

Much better than last week so far. Just maintain this level of pressure for the second half and we win.

Third quarter wa slooking pretty desultory until Pearce took a bounce in defence, got it to Paxman who got it to Scott who got it to Hore. Daisy and Paxman in particular just sometimes look like they are playing a different game.

Shame the shot was touched but that piece of play seems to have settled us and we're reclaiming control of the game again.

Well we maintained the pressure and won well.  I'm back to being happy and proud rather than bitterly disappointed!

Paxman has to be played in the centre at all possible times.  Collingwood got their 2 goals in the 2nd quarter when she wasn't there.  Put her back in and the rot stopped.

Cunningham and Newman really need to lift their games.  Both playing well below what they showed last year.  Newman in particular has to be told to kick the ball and not try to break through tackles.  She may have the speed but doesn't have the strength.

Jeez, this thread is like a bloody ghost town.

I would’ve thought more D’Landers would be up and about after our girls posted such a massive, 8 point win over the old arch rival, The Filth, under lights and roof at Docklands on a Friday night, as a curtain raiser to a 50,000 spectator State of Origin game. What an awesome victory!

If Adelaide can beat the Bloos, and Saints somehow beat Freo tomorrow, our finals chances increase dramatically. If we were to make finals, we could, you know, be a real chance to WIN A FLAG, like it says on that little plan Perty and the board put out the other week!

C’mon people, get around OUR team, the  bloody MFC for chissakes! RED AND BLUE!

Or are they just chicks pretending to play footy?!

Sheesh

We managed to get to second in our conference despite Carlton winning today. Hoping for a big win next week to consolidate before a fortnight of travel and hopefully add on some more percentage which of course hasn’t been our best friend in recent seasons.

No one likes to get ahead of themselves of course but of all clubs we should know a thing or two about percentage and how vital it can be in such a short season.

Yep. 4 points is not enough against the eagles. They are not a good side so % is all important.

Much better effort than last week. Paxman was great again and Gay played another really good game. Both Pearces were good. Look what happens when we kick sraight.

Waxman is a cut above. Like daisy a complete natural.

Agree but thought both were better this week. And both created goals from their contest work. Positive signs. Also, Cunningham is often double teamed so we need to get better at identifying & using our resultant "spare"

Cunningham was better this week, but has to stay in the team purely for taking the best 2 defenders the opposition have. It has given Eden Zanker the ability to dominate - her ruck work is fantastic and with Lauren Pearce back, we should be getting first use of the pill most of the time.

Yep, we sure did look better. The flow on effect of having L.Pearce was crucial, freeing up Zanker, Scott and Cordner to play more of their natural roles and in turn taking pressure off each line.

Agree with others that, while they didn't exactly set the world on fire, Cunningham and Newman were improved. Seven individual goalkickers reflected a team effort - especially that chain of handballs to set up Scott, started by Newman on the boundary. We had the 2nd highest number of marks i50 and 2nd best disposal efficiency for Round 4.

Was great to see Parry do so well on debut, joining the "goal with first kick" club. Time will tell if her massive goalkicking numbers in the Canberra league will translate at the top level. Clearly recruited to help our goalkicking, wish she could've been out there sooner.

This was the 25th game for both Paxman and O'Dea, meaning they've played every possible game for us so far. No mean feat across 4 seasons. Scott will likely notch up her 25th in R5. For reference, the players with the most games in the league are 2 Adelaide players with 28.

Some stats for the mid-way point of the season: league-wide Paxman is 7th for disposals (avg. 20.3 at 70% eff.), 7th for metres gained, 10th for contested possessions and eq. 5th in i50s. Daisy is averaging 14 at 71% and is eq. 5th in intercept possessions (Birch is eq. 6th). Scott is equal 4th in score involvements, Hore is eq. 6th, Zanker is eq. 12th. Hanks is 8th in tackles.

Looking ahead to next week, we might actually face some selection dilemmas! Mithen is apparently ready to go. The obvious switch would have been Heath, but she already went out last week. With appendicitis because, of course. Our injury stress lessens slightly, with now 3 fit players outside the 21, although we're clearly not going to be as fresh as other teams.

Every game's a danger game from here on out! We have two games left at Casey, so get along if you can.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
