Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

To put it bluntly this virus is only a concern for the elderly. Look at the death rates. Most people hardly know they are crook.

I thought so until I remembered that the Chinese doctor who tried to sound the alert back in December, and was arrested and interrogated for his trouble, died of Covid-19 in February and he was in his 30s.

I have no doubt the anecdotes mean it 'escaped' by accident; certainly not released deliberately and I wasn't trying to imply such.  Why would China do that in their own back yard?

True and there will always be exceptions to every rule. Also how much of the virus was he exposed to and can you get it more than once.

So the PM announces events with more than 500 people shouldn't go ahead and then says he plans to go to an NRL game.   A bet each way.   Or maybe he chose the number 500 because he knows the average size of an NRL crowd is fewer.

Dieter, your odious intimidation efforts are not helping anyone.  I've put forward a pretty straightforward set of copiously verified facts with clear cause and effect relationships.

- that the dismal animal welfare and workplace safety cultures and laws of many countries, but most particularly the globally integrated ones headlined by China, is a major factor in this, previous, and likely future novel contagions.

- that the cover-up first response culture of many authoritarian countries, but most particularly the globally integrated ones headlined by China, is a major factor in virus' being enabled to spread beyond an initial outbreak.

Failure to deal with the reality of the situation actually provides racists with a cloak to cover their vileness - based on your response any given racist can now say 'Look, the PC police won't even let us talk about the failings of a repressive totalitarian state.'

I speak from a position of resentment on this because I have watched as this knee-jerk 'it's racist' reaction has provided a similar cloak to awful reactionaries across the world who have successfully branded things like human rights, free press, women's liberation, and so on as 'western/white conspiracies' sent to undermine the 'unity' of the 'natural order'.  From Turkey to Indonesia to Sri Lanka, there's hardly a repressive government that hasn't claimed that, say, Amnesty International is actually just a front for white cultural imperialism.

Dieter, your thoughtless aggression harms people I care about.  Please take some time to reflect on the conspiracy theorist tones of your post I have quoted and whether that is really how you want to relate to the world.

I speak from bitter experience about the nature of 'factual evidence' when presented from the armchairs of people who smugly point the fingers at the misdeeds of 'others', especially if at some time in recent  history the 'others' have been the subject of our white supremacist superiority complexes, E.G. the White Australian Policy, Two Wongs don't make a white, Made in China therefore inferior, etc etc.

There is much misinformation about this virus already which has lead to the toilet paper hoarding pandemic, and, more than anything, absolutely nobody is totally sure about where this virus originates. That it broke out in Wuhan seems to be true. We know hardly anything else for sure which hasn't stopped certain members on this site telling us that it's because people in that region eat the heads off frogs, that they eat live bats etc etc etc. We live in a strange country in strange times. We live in a country where Credlin and Bolt and The Australian tell us that the horrendous bush fires were started by arsonists,  that they had nothing to do with climate change,  we live in a country where a member of Parliament tells her constituents and anyone who listens that men don't commit domestic violence, that it's all made up to deprive poor fathers of the custody of their children, we live in a country where an ex Prime Minister won't 'resile' from invading Iraq based on totally fictitious lies and propaganda.

So call me a 'conspiracy theorist' if that is your wonton, I don't care. All I know for sure is that the media constantly lies to us, as does our Prime Minister. I also believe - because I try to use my brain - that most of the stuff we 'know' about Russia and China is bulldust.

Furthermore, mention has been made of the way the Chinese treat their animals. Wow, this comes from the inhabitants of a country where the way sheep, cattle and horses have been treated in the Live Export saga should hang their bloody heads in shame rather than pointing at the finger at the way other countries treat their animals.

I also add that China is a country of billions of people. That they have managed to stay pandemic free for so long ought to be lauded.

It was a done deal on empty stadia earlier this week.

The bigger question is around cancellation of games all together as if a player tests positive and has been training/playing against opposition you are half a chance to knock out 6 teams before the first player shows symptoms.

Think the codes will end up following the NBA lead and suspend play before round 1

No and I go about life as normal. physical activity leads to breathlesness but you get it back after a few seconds rest. Still I think this corona virus has been exagerated by the media and politicians. The flu may kill more people than this but only time will tell. They don't seem too concerned about the flu do they.

Its about 9 - 10 times more lethal than the Flu, for those who are vulnerable to it.

Totally agree the reaction is 'mindless insanity':  approx 130,000 diagnosed cases worldwide, some 5,000 deaths worldwide.

Over about 1 month.?   Since the virus was announced in December 2019.   It's in its infancy, atmo..

If.? it was a release..   A Rogue nation wouldn't release it without having a vaccine.

How are the numbers growing in China, at present?

I love a good 'Iraq war happened therefore Chinese live animal trade is fine' argument.

with the grand prix cancelled, the precedent for cancelling populated events has been set. l suspect the season will be postponed. All that needs to happen to put the nail in the coffin (and it will happen soon enough) is that an afl player tests positive .. sorry for the negative view but seems inevitable to me

It is not lethal enough

Seriously? Much more contagious than the flu, x times more fatal and (the key bit) *for which there is neither cure nor vaccine*.

And it's not just the elderly. Death rates for people with cardiovascular or respiratory conditions, diabetes, hypertension, obesity and cancer are through the roof.

There's also a massive hidden cost which we're starting to see in places like Italy: because ICU's and hospitals are overwhelmed, people with other potentially life-threatening diseases are being shunted to the back of the cue, with a predictable longer-term cost.

And that's without even starting on the long-term effects of isolation on mental health and global well-being for those who are already fragile.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
