Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not sure where you got those numbers, but they're wrong (currently approx 90,000 people out of ~7.8 billion). But the problem is that the number of cases won't increase linearly, it will increase exponentially (because each person with the virus will likely pass it on to multiple others). 90,000 cases could turn into hundreds of millions extremely quickly, and the mortality rate is about 3.5% - do the math.

No one knows quite how bad it will get, but people have good reason to be concerned (although panic buying dunny paper is just plain weird).

I didn't suggest that people and governments should not be concerned or vigilant, but at the moment there appears to be a fair amount of panic. The figure of 41,000 was on one of tv news stations this morning.

Hope there is a crowd lockout for round 1.

AFL will probably find a way to put huge speakers in the ground pumping out loud "BOO" sounds so the umps dont forget to reward West Coke each time they touch the ball.

it's the mofo elephant in the room that everyone is too scared to address let alone take any action on

the un body on global population has been forecasting (expert scientists) for 50 years that the rate will flatten out, but it has remained and still is exponential

Outside of Asia I believe the mortality rate is far less, around 1 or 1.5 per cent. However, as you say, figures can change quickly.

Older people or those having pre existing health issues with compromised immunity certainly have more to be concerned about should it escalate here.

This is a much cheaper and enjoyable way to get your hands on a 30 pack of toilet paper than the $1,500 people are asking for on eBay.

Sadly not dl, not sure if we are allowed to post pics from eBay on here but someone is asking 9k for a 20 pack and has 18 bids so far. Is it even legal?

Apparently there are heaps of posts on eBay and Gumtree taking the pizz (pardon the pun) and getting friends to bid

9k for 20 would need to be gold leaf toilet paper

Is it possible we could make the GF and not be allowed to go?!!

Yes folks, MFCSS knows no limits...

Could be worse. At the end of the home and away series we may have finished beneath the other team that makes the GF with the AFL cancelling the game and awarding the Premiership to the team that finished higher on the ladder.

I heard on the news this morning that worldwide 41,000 people had been diagnosed with the disease, as the worlds population is around 10 billion this equates to a very miniscule percentage.

So if the virus spreads to most of the worlds population, that would equate to around 70m deaths. Roughly about the same as the 1918 Spanish Flu.

at a 2% fatality rate this would need approx 50% of the world's population to get coronavirus. how do you arrive at that figure? or did you just pluck it out of the proverbial?

and i thought mfcss was a glass half full

there's something a little strange about the absence of entry restrictions on Italians with the upcoming GP

This almost sounds Donaldish

Still in Australia for now, the Guardian’s Katherine Murphy has asked Scott Morrison to elaborate on the travel travel ban regarding South Korea.

Part of the reason, Morrison responded, was the number of travellers arriving in Australia from South Korea. “The volume of travellers coming out of the Republic of Korea was more than five times what it is out of Italy,” he said.

It “may well be possible within a matter of days or weeks to be able to ensure that we can deal with that,” he said, but for now the travel ban was “the way to go”.

Was going on 1% of the 7b population, as you correctly pointed out, if the mortality rate is at 1%. Looks like it might be higher.

Regardless of the math, it could still be a serious pandemic.

It very well could be, time will tell, but I am not going to panic about it.

FI organisers have said if any team is prevented from racing they'll cancel the Grand Prix.  That is a huge amount of tourist dollars lost to the Vic economy if it is cancelled.  imv the government is playing a high risk game in putting $ before health, especially as Ferrari's location and perhaps it's major fan base is in northern Italy.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if a ban on travellers from Italy is activated as soon as the race is finished.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
