Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Petracca Closes in on New Deal

See what he wants and give a red and blue offer.

Blue is the agreed portion of the contracted time or money. And secures him for the future.

Red is the potential of the other component. (a credit offer to be adjusted at the end of the season) when his contract is up and based on his performance. The club can sell this as a desire not to undervalue and exploit Trac.

The red can be finalised at any time during the season if both parties agree.

The blue gives certainty and guarantees, the red allows for Trac to increase his value through performance.

But I Agree secure him now, he is not only maturing as a player but seems to have an inclusive presence at training. He seems to have a great relationship with teammates. Pictures often show him with arm around teammates sharing jokes , always smiling..

Are we really that desperate that we need to rush in and sign before he has even played one H&A game in 2020.  Just let him settle.

Do you think we might loser him if he hasn't signed on by June.?   I don't think he is going anywhere but to be in Red and Blue.

Let him play, and get into a routine and see what his form really is,  and then make the contract accordingly, at that time.

We don't need to panic and rush these things.

I never bought into the article last year that had Petracca in the top five forwards in the competition. His disposal wasn’t damaging enough, he missed easy shots on goal and went missing in patches never putting a four qtr game together. During last years trade period I threw his name up as a potential trade option. I received some criticism for that but when I asked what games he had dominated off his own boot there was no reply. Saturday’s game was his best to date but keeping things in perspective it was against a largely inexperienced Adelaide side. He now needs to show that form in the home and away season, not just against the bottom sides but against the likes of Richmond, GWS, Western Bulldogs,  WCE and Collingwood, then again in finals should we make it. This obviously doesn’t guarantee us a win every time he fires but we need to see consistency from him before we offer a four to five year deal on big money. Other clubs can show interest in him, clubs show interest in every player out of contract. We’ve been good to him as a club and if he can deliver on field he will get rewarded, but right now it’s still very much based on potential and cameos. We only need to look as far back as Hogan to understand how far potential can get you, for all of his bags of goals against bottom sides Hogan never dominated against quality opposition. If Petracca can dominate this season than give him a blank cheque for five years but until then we wait.

Well said.  At the moment still a jack of all trades but master of none and a poor mans Dustin Martin. The promise is there and so are the ifs and buts. I am concerned  about signing him up early on a big deal because he hasn’t shown any tangible consistency and output. We may have to pay a higher price later but if he delivers he will be worth it.

Sign him up ASAP because, whatever he wants, the price will be cheaper,  and we don't want the rest of the worst industry in the AFL world talking sh%% about our player going to bloody Carlton or Collingwood. The pressure is going to be right up the SCAB Media's alley, and they love behaving like that.......

I disagree, he has been a steady builder since his knee reco. He was a top performer last year and is looking like taking it to the next level this year. If Saturday was anything to go by he will be worth $1m by the end of the year. He deserves a solid contract and, personally, I'd like to get it done ASAP. At 600-800k he is a safe investment.

I might change my opinion if he tears up WC in pressure cooker Optus Stadium. A blinder in a low intensity practice game promises everything but proves nothing.

Agreed. That could change everything

Let’s see last saturday’s game for the real stuff

I think he will do it...

Steady builder in the tuck shop, since his first days.

This past Pre season is the very first he has done real extra fitness work,  and it is now showing.  Its about time, he got real about his career and the effort he puts in to get his body right. Still could lose some more Kgs,  but at least he has put way more into his cardio vascular work.

The next couple of Pre-season efforts will dictate just how high he reaches, in AFL terms.

How much did you put on?

Just a $5.

Bontempelli is my pick, then I always put some on a dark horse, last year it was Neale at $51.

Thought Trac was too good to not spare a fiver at those odds.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
