Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Nothing resembling a 'plan' or 'strategy' anywhere near this.

This is just a bunch of claims that sound great, tied up with a nice little bow in the claim that 'if' it all happens we be flying and a powerhouse, with lot's more members...

Tell us what you're doing right now. How are things going to be different? When Gale and O'Neill rolled out their plan, they at least started by addressing the shift in culture that was required. Followed up by appointing Balme (who was available because he's been fired by Collingwood's CEO at the time...).

That's a plan, that's action, that get's results.

what, you mean like appointing burgess?

richmond got balme, one of the calmest and best football 'heads' in the game; we got one of the most-respected fitness people in world sport

it's fairly obvious that they are doing their level best to address shortcomings which involves increasing football spend to surround with best in world class, developing a home base (lofty vision) and delivering on-field to elicit natural growth of membership from latent supporters

are those that have pilloried the vision / strategy approach being publicly presented the same to scoff at the Tigers' version of the same?

for mine the big difference being they were coming from a significantly higher base of support, membership, and corporate opportunities, in quite some way as a result of already having a long-established home base

Unfortunately I have to agree with you about Pert, I had a fairly lengthy conversation with him last year and was less than impressed, he was still talking about the training ground in the precinct when it was already a dead duck and everyone knew it.

We should do whatever possible to get, no nonsense Peter Jackson back, whatever the cost. I trust him and what he says and if he can't do it he won't promise it.

The problem we have is we are still part of the MCC and, whilst that has some financial benefit, it ties us to the Private School culture which we don't need. All the successful clubs have a bit of bastard in them, but we are just too nice and our players become too nice the longer they are with us.

I want results, not just words that are designed to buy time for those in charge. I applaud the club for their statement, but doubt the capacity of those in charge to deliver.

You have my vote Dante.

It wouldn't soothe me either, Steve.

I can understand why some supporters are finding it hard to get behind this one page of dot points, but I have no doubt the club have a clear plan of how they want to achieve these goals that goes far deeper than what they have shared, and I like the fact that we're aiming high.  We are not starting this strategic plan in 2014 when we just wanted to keep our heads above water.  We have the capacity to do much, much more and I'm happy to see that we are setting higher goals than we would have 5,6,7 years ago.

I'm guessing this plan is the member facing version. I'm sure the club has a far more detailed document that outlines the strategy and KPIs.

I'm personally happy to club has made it public, even if it isn't the whole plan. At least they can now be held accountable.

Sadly, there simply isn’t anything beyond what has been communicated to supporters. To say it is disheartening is an understatement, but I’ll keep making noise as I can in the (vain) hope that they pull their heads out their [censored] and put some steps in place to achieve their goals.

Right now there’s nothing and it’s soul-destroying. So many opportunities that are going begging because they’re not valued by fools who are happy to go through the motions. Pert has ambition, but has no idea how to get it done.

I really like that the home base is on there.

The is much we can't control - particularly the premierships - and i feel the club would know they will be judged very harshly on this, so will want to go easy on things that can't be achieved.

So this indicates to me that they think this is very realistic.

You know, we have been judged harshly by every Tom,[censored] and half baked idiot already. This wont change any of that.

We are the masters ( and mistresses ) of our own destiny.

Bring it on and win, lose or draw, let's make some sort of statement of intent in Perth in round 1.

I put this on the g Pert interview thread, listen to the interview   believe or not   your choice

What I took out of it,

5.35    Admin, home base, and social club and we are very close to that.

6.33  second phase of that, progressing really well, within walking distance of the MCG

10.19     Bennell half a dozen games

10.28     May    1st game or shortly after

Will I live another 4 years with this stress.

Pert would make a great Politician !!

Still think 2020  will be great    Go Dees

Not quite how much we can do MFM.

If you buy a membership and attend games that seems to be about all any supporter can do.

From this point on it is up to the FD and players.

Actions will tell us how this club will progress.  Onfield we make finals or it’s a fail.  Off field just get the facilities done ASAP!!!!!

I have  re signed as usual, however will not trust the club until the players prove their finals contenders.

Obviously the four letter word that is short for Richard is on the banned list PD. I tried to use it yesterday when talking about Mr Seddon and the same happened.

Win lots of  games and all the rest will fall into place. Lose and we continue the 55 year tradition.

Who do you mean by ‘they’? And in what fashion do you suggest ‘they‘ be held accountable? Blow torch to the privates, or other accountability result?

Did the foundations of our past really create the 'Demon Spirit', or was this concept recently created by our marketing dept.?

Never heard of it - but it seems like we're trying to ape the Bloods Culture or Shinboner business.

Yes, It did.

Is the Gosch’s Paddock area currently within what is known as the MCG Precinct or would this require some creative gerrymandering first?

I think they’ve said walking distance from the MCG. It’s the most likely solution.

Actions speak louder than words.

This is a cop out and unhelpful. If you think things just happen without planning and commitments then you're deluding yourself.

Name a top performing business that doesn't have a meticulously laid out plan available to shareholders on where they see the business in 10+ years. The board wouldn't last ten minutes if they just told their shareholders "we're not gonna show you a plan, but you will just have to wait and see our actions. Take our word for it." This might not be a meticulous plan, but it's a step in the right direction, just like Richmond did.

In my opinion this "actions not words" attitude needs to stop and we need to see clear leadership in the form of articulate strategies from the top. This isn't a local footy club and it certainly isn't the 80s anymore.

interesting that we're continuing to invest time and resources into casey; at least from a "will continue to develop Casey Fields as our secondary high-performance facility. We will play our AFLW, VFLW and VFL home games as well as an AFL pre-season game at Casey Fields" standpoint

i have no idea what the facility is like out there now - i've been out there i reckon three times in the last seven years and it's just way too far away for me to be that interested in going out there, plus parking was a nightmare

i'm told that signing the 30-year agreement with the city of casey was done by cameron schwab and paul gardiner?

here's a tangential case study on the tigers leaving their green site of craigieburn behind: https://home.id.com.au/case-studies/richmond-football-club/

i wonder how much benefit we get out of the casey alignment other than monetarily from the city of casey - as a matter of interest, did schwab / gardiner do the deal with the corrupt council that is apparently in place there now?

Rumblings tell me there is renewed development in the Jolimont plan but still unlikely to happen. The East Melbourne resident bubble won't stand for it. The alternative is a new development as part of major Richmond Station development in the works. Eddie actually hinted on this recently.

I question how much influence the East Melbourne residents really have in this. Surely any local or state government would laugh at them, like they do the rest of us

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
