Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Has anyone at Meth Coke died over Summer?

Flatlined, hung out with Benny or done a Chris Mainwarring?

What a Club, got a way with it all and that same CEO is in charge

I could cop a few Suspensions this year

Hit them hard. Who remembers the game in 1989 over there

John Northey had to be restrained by the players from Punching on

Daniel Kerr had a rough summer

That game was classic (was 1990 you're thinking of) Players walked off the ground arm in arm giving the supporters the finger while singing Grand Old Flag (Bennett, Grinter and Wilson being prime offenders from memory). Unfortunately they had the last laugh knocking us out of the semis one month later :(

Collingwood was always my most hated team but Hawthorn and West Coast weren't far behind as a kid. We won the 88 Elimination Final but they knocked us out in 90, 91 and 94 and then again in 2018. I really hate the Eagles, arrogant tossers as well who always get away with the home cooked umpiring and then still have the nerve to whinge

It's a farce that Nesbitt is still in that role, he was the Architect of brushing everything under the carpet.

15 years on he talks differently in public when questioned about the health of some of those players now, but he knew a lot of what was going on and they chose a flag tilt over players long term health.

I've had a fair bit to do with the Cousins family and it's a tragedy how Ben has turned out, as a parent it's not nice to witness and the media actually need to just leave it alone

Pretty sure that game was ‘89 Dr. I have it all on VHS back home, absolute classic, will check the date when i get back to Melbs

that’s the kind of coach we need  a tough bastard who will fight with, and for his players

i don’t see that in Goodwin yet.   2020 will tell the story

It was round 20 1990.

We also beat them by 2 points in round 8 1989 over there but there was no such controversy or carry on in that game.

Ok ? i haven’t played it for a long time

I know this is a different opposition but I didn’t want to start a new thread. Anyone else slightly sickened by season the little report on the Hawks intraclub match with Patton kicking 3 goals. How the Hawks managed to pick up him and Scully (who also played well) for the equivalent of a small Big Mac meal is beyond me.

Meaning 'the son of Patrick', Patten is a baptismal name. Variants include Paton, Patton, Padon, Pate, Patt, Patey, Peyton and Payton. This name is often of Scottish descent spreading to Ireland, England and Wales in early times and is found in many mediaeval manuscripts throughout these countries.

Scully has been okay for them.  He certainly hasn't set the world on fire.

And time will tell with Patton.  He has spent far more time off the field than on it, so he needs to get his body right long term before he can repay the faith.

Yeah I’m pretty happy with our recruiting off-season. Just wish we would take a few more names on our list quietly up the back paddock...

Haha maybe! My username is actually based off my last name being one of those variants, I'll let you try to figure out which one! ?

Schofield in trouble?

any contact with the head and he is out for 1 week. Similar to mays hit last year.

Big out for them

It is similar, but there is a major point of difference here. Schofield doesn't play for Melbourne.

I can clearly remember Cyril getting applauded for his similar hit on Oliver a few years ago.

That not lenient enough for you?

G.Lyon is right. It was overly aggressive. If he doesnt get a week, it should be used as defense (which is unallowed apparently) for someone else. If I were to pick the outcome, Id say it deserves a week but because it is west coast, they will get off.

Yep - very similar. Shiel not looking as he was giving the ball off, Schofield rises in the bump and takes him high. If there's an argument about where/how high the contact actually is (as a means of him getting off the charge), you could counter argue Schofield has a "duty of care" (a la Trengove sling tackle on Dangerfield and subsequent suspension) as Shiel's head hits the deck pretty hard (no means of protecting himself).

Should get a week.

Is Shiel unable to play this week or couldn't return to the field on Thursday night?

If the answer is no to either point, Schofield's playing round 1.

You only have to look at week 1 of the Series:

M Crouch cops a fine because C Oliver didn't get injured.

M Williams cops 2 weeks because E Richards was unable to take anymore part in the game.

If Schoefield was wearing an MFC jumper and copped a week, we'd all all be frothing at the mouth like we did with May.

Maybe not.  But it's hard to explain how some stars get off when it suits the AFL.  And the more stars you have the more you get off, so perhaps some there is some apparent leniency for some clubs.

I could not believe that, literally reverse the players and it would've been a 50m penalty with Oliver getting two weeks.

West Coast Eagles

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
 Oscar Allen  Ankle  Test
 Jack Darling  Cheekbone  Test
 Luke Foley  Pubic bone  TBC
 Jeremy McGovern  Heel  Test
 Daniel Venables  Concussion  Season
Updated: Tuesday, March 3

Early prognosis

McGovern is pushing for round one and could even play minutes against Fremantle on Saturday after an impressive training run on Tuesday. Carefully managed to this point, he is taking part in most drills and hitting good pace. Allen has had a summer interrupted first by a hernia problem and then an ankle scare. He trained with the main group on Tuesday and looked in good shape. Contact work for Darling has been limited but his touch is excellent. Foley is slowly lifting his training workload. The Eagles confirmed Venables will step away from the game in 2020 as he manages lingering concussion symptoms. – Nathan Schmook

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
