Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Pleasantly surprised by the response in this thread.  I was pretty lukewarm to watching it, but I might check it out sometime this week.

I know there will be some who want to see 'actions' and not 'words', but this is the world we live in now.  Better to just accept it.

I'll indulge this for a moment.

While what we're doing is a longer version than most, every club does this over pre-season.  Look at the Hawks website - an interview with Gunston about how he is still passionate about being a leader, Mitchell's 'off field growth' coming to fruition and so forth.  Every single club does puff pieces over the summer.  You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

Aah, the self anointed 'expert' film critics that feel a need to be critical... just like the 'real' film critics... always an opinion, never realising that they are not representative of the wider audience. I never take any notice of the 'real' film critics... I see a movie that I am interested in and make up my own mind. Enjoyed this insight into the mind-set of our football team. There was a time when supporters would grab the Saturday evening Sporting Globe on the way home which would have a report on the first half of the game you just viewed in first person... The Herald would have the final scores, printed in red (I think) on the back page of the early evening edition. When you got home from the match you might have had a half hour replay (if your team was playing one of the big 4) on Saturday night... then WOS on Sunday morning for 'expert' analysis. Now we have the good fortune to view a very well constructed review of pre-season, a narrative from the inner sanctum, and we have the drop-kick media critics here claiming it was below par! Get a life! Bring on episode two!

Fair enough, one little morsel in there about the burden of the decade impacting him as a leader. Although if you couldn't tell that the weight of a decade of failure had on Jones you haven't been paying attention. I'd extrapolate from that and say that if he wasn't enjoying the leadership journey and growth of so many players and the club from 2015-2018 then either he or the club were doing something wrong. The end of 2017 was upsetting but otherwise we were on the right track for a stretch of years there.

I was also extremely disappointed at the end of 2017 and seriously thought we had missed our chance.

Jonesy is a part of that, but so was Max, T Mac and Viney (coming back too early from his foot injury) etc. They stood up in 2018 and finally got it right towards the end of the year, but in 2019 the likes of Max, Viney and Jones had to stand up while the rest of the team fell down around them. Trac, Harmes, Clarry were exceptions.

Rather than derailing another thread, I will simply say you have your view, DS and I have mine. Jones may not be the player he once was but he is a champion person. Nno matter what happens in the next year (or two), the way he spoke shows to me he will do his best to ensure he plays his role as a player in his twilight years, to try to set the club up for success he will likely not be an active part of.

I liked the first 2 minutes. The club was prepared to take all the criticism of the journalists (and us i think...lack of leadership has always been a topic on here)

The rest was fairly standard..

after Part 3 i will elaborate further.
nice cutting at the beginning (kudos to the editor)

Im happy for practically anything footy related after the last few months. Sure beats some of the mind numbing stuff that we have had to wade through on here while waiting for the season to start again.

Havent seen it yet, but will watch tonight when i get home from work.

At least we are trying something different (For MFC that is).

I liked it, thought it was vulnerable and courageous of Jones to lead with his heart. And of the club to show how they’re responding to the pain of 2019.

I loved getting to see something we've virtually never been shown before. The coach's first address to the players to set up the pre season and the next season. Followed by the new head of conditioning setting out the plan. It wasn't what they said it was the fact that we got to see them saying it. Personally I"ve never seen that before. I love it. Best thing I've seen the Club do.

For those of you who don't want to hear anything from the Club until there's results from games why are you even commenting about this. You're in the wrong place. Go back into hiding till round 1.

That’s why I enjoyed the episode. Some of us can only get to a few training sessions a year to see them and it’s strictly business. So what if some of the boys ran a few laps at some local park, the fact is they are doing it and to see which players group together is interesting. They are still working hard and also loved some of the talk like Preuss  “Bull__it” and Max’s expletive. A bit of banter is always enjoyable.

Noticed Frost in the early part, wonder if they will show us anything around the planning of trade period.

i enjoyed the initial episode and am looking forward to next instalment.I  Well done  to the media boys. Its  brave to make the doco in the present and hope the season develops in line with the theme of redemption and things don't turn sour .Not sure how it will all pay out in the end.Sort of a MFC version of "The Staircase "

I reckon when we win the flag some people on here will whinge that it took us too long and we didn't win by enough.

I thought it was a nice insight into the club and much more enjoyable than the souless puff pieces which are usually the only things we're treated to. It was a bit of a wake up for me that people in the club hear the criticism on boards like these which is directed at players and staff.

More of this less of puff please. Could have been longer!

And in what way exactly, is this series hindering that? You might have noticed that we were given a glimpse of what their training regime will be like and that they are very clear in understanding that actions will be extremely important. They are obviously intensifying their workload to ensure that they are able to start the season in the best or condition.

This also gives the players and others a chance to open up about their feelings and gives us an insight into how they were personally affected by the way things went down the s-bend last year.

if you’re not interested, which you are obviously not, then don’t watch it. No pleasing some.  Or better yet, if you are Matsuo as was stated, perhaps you could exorcise your demons by writing a few haiku on the subject.

So after watching it, i dont get why anyone would be critical. Some genuine insider stuff there, without any rose coloured glasses or spin. 8 mins of going over how bad we were last year, and just touching on the clubs plan to get better. Look forward to seeing the rest of it already. Might even convince me to renew my membership..................................................

Anyone critical of that is a sourpuss.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
