Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Kate Roffey did an interview on SEN this morning and the last question she was asked was about the progress of a new training facility, her response was something about the challenge is trying to find a patch of grass in the city area. It sounded to me we were back at square one.

Unbelievable & not acceptable situation when the Cats get 140 mill , tigers & Dogs 30-70 million from state gvts & we are training in a paddock! Who’s to blame here as successive administrations have failed thus far to find a solution! Going around in circles once again and a credit to coaches & players to have had premiership success in both men & women sides. Is the club that stubborn with staying in this Precinct that other opportunities have gone missing??

Is that yes both ???

The question is what contract have they signed with Josh’s Paddock since the increase of size, which would suggest the club was/will be close to a training centre nearby??

Yes to first part.

I don't know if other opportunities have definitely been missed. There is an opportunity cost in terms of wasted time.

You're right regarding potential to be redeveloped. We would need to displace the port football and cricket clubs...

Not the kind of ruthless move we are capable of.

We could break with Casey, and with agreement, use Port as our VFL feeder/affiliate club.

Gosch's and Aami to be used during cricket.

I reckon the reason to have a place around the MCG must be related to where they want the administration to hub.

Port don't want to be affiliated with anyone. They want to remain a stand alone club.

This has been spoken about plenty of times, but the North Port oval isn't the only option.  And why would we want to step into Ports home?

Even Melbourne Grammar have their sports oval ( Flack Parkl) there.

But while we have a Board which is fixated on MCG proximity alone, these sort of options are not explored.

Bit going on with future planning around Fishermans Bend too. I'm not a massive fan of the area in general, but you'd take it ahead of moving out to Casey.

Bernadene Voss, former Port Phillip mayor and now president of the Fishermans Bend Business Forum, said with a dearth of parkland in the area, the community would welcome any increase in green space.

“It’s the only development I’m aware of that is making significant green space on the ground for the wider community,” Voss said.

Realistically there is space in the MCG precinct, the challenge is securing buy-in from the necessary stakeholders to cut through the red tape. I believe we will have first class facilities in the MCG within the next 5 - 7 years I just think we don't have the political clout to drive the process and so need to work within the process set out by the State Government.

Port Melb FC ground is ripe for development  along with all the current redevelopment of Fisherman’s bend, an expected extra 20k in population growth, not to mention Port Vfl team has the same  theme song and colours & long successful history founded in 1874 & 17 flags

This could be a good outcome if the development funds are possible. Transport to this ground is not ideal but could be improved. I'd personally hate to lose the 'G but truly resent dual occupancy. A home ground close to the city is everything; it is an identity and singular right. We are the Mighty Demons, the Melbourne Football Club. It is about time that the truth and the acquisition details are announced, settled, achieved.

I mean, they gave us $2 million just to make Gosch's bigger so I think you're peddling agendas rather than facts here.

Box Hill just got a $6mill upgrade for a VFL ground that doesn't need an upgrade...go figure.

For whatever reason we don't seem to be selling the right story.

I'm holding fire on all these kinds of conspiracies until I see what support we get once we have an actual location locked in. IMO we've had pretty decent support from the government given it's been money for stop gaps.

This one's not a conspiracy 'Nev'...

...I just fail to understand how a club that pioneered football, then pioneered women's football in the AFL is not getting anything (well a pittance) where a club who didn't want anything to do with womens football now gets funding to upgrade facilities and their pitch was based on the women's game.

Because we haven't got a location.

Good luck with that, the stake holders have little if any enthusiasm for taking away green space in inner Melbourne. On top of that there are no votes to be obtained.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
