Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Still a fair way short old son.

For sure, and I'm 100% on the home base bandwagon, just think we need to realize that the lack of massive funds compared to other places is likely because we haven't put forward a feasible plan. The Yarra Park thing was a mess. I reckon we'll end up out at Casey anyway tbh.

Good research, and looks damning...

Anything on Essendon or Western Bulldogs @Roger Mellie?

* I wouldn't know where to begin to source that info...

Essendon was $27m but not sure of the breakdown other than $4m+ from the club.

Bulldogs have $44.8m (Govt) for stage 2 redevelopment for W.O.

Absolute joke.

Do the Government want to drop another $100m into Geelong so they can build statues out of gold for the likes of Duckwood, Tommy "Booger" Hawkins and Danger?

While they are at it they can build a Church outside of Kardinia Park just to top it off.

Incorrect - $2m

I didn't include funding for 2nd grounds of other clubs (Eg. Geelong at Deakin, Richmond at Bundoora or wherever it is) so why should I include Casey?

Because Casey is still our major facilitated used AFL training hub. It has far more facilities than Goschs so churlishly and saltily choosing to incorrectly call Casey our No2 Training Ground is about as mature as the impatient pleas for an announcement. Doctoring the figures IOWords.

It's been advised repeatedly by Perty  and Roffey that the issue is with the State Govt.Cttee for decision and annuncement and the stakeholders on that Cttee including MFC. That's  if we still are insisting an MCG nearby location. A number of D/Landers continually pot the delay as they themselves are running out of time to hear and may never get to enjoy this facility.

Fair dunkum they  are like 6 yo kids yearning for their first 2 wheel bike rather than wait for the better model when they turn 8.

After 57 years for a Flag patience is still not their virtue as they scramble for any available  land within 5/7 km of inner city  that is vacant to attempt to push their case with largely weird half baked proposals.

Other than team selection issues they have very little to post so the whipping boys are the Training Ground executives Whose hands are well known tied.

Next season beckons guys just hang on to your hats!

They should just use the allocated church space to expand the width of the ground 😛

Ummmm because it was our facilities at Casey? I mean, we've been training there, what around 80% of the time since 2020?

We trained there so much as our main training ground is inadequate. It didn't allow sufficient separation between players/staff and onlookers during Covid. The second reason we trained there so much is the ground was being resurfaced/widened until the middle of the year.

I'm comparing apples with apples but feel free to knock yourself out finding the money spent on all Vic teams second training facilities for comparison.

So it was a coincidence that we also started training there more often after millions was spent upgrading it?

Also, it's the base of our VFL, VFLW and AFLW teams, but if you think they're not part of the club then perhaps take that up with Roffey...

Where's Casey again?

A bloody long way from almost everywhere Roost.  Last time i went there for the QF against the Swans it took me 40 minutes.

I reckon the alternative below should have at least been looked at / considered at some stage in the last five years.  Only 17 minutes from where i am (pretty central Melb) via Monash (no tolls) and much more gettable distance wise for many more Demons in Melb metro.

Just off the Eastlink as well for those up north and in the western burbs.  A short meander down North/Wellington Road for those coming from the Sth or Sth East.

Heaps of space out there to develop facilities as well.  Two ovals and plenty of parkland.

Might have also got the Rowville Hawks renamed the Demons.  Sweet coup!

This is what I don’t get with our current boards thinking. Surely having something really good in the middle of nowhere is better than nothing in a really nice locale.

You have to remember we are an old conservative club. A large number can only think MCG. A number including the board can only think that way no matter what the problems.

I no longer care about MCG precinct, but the facility had to be in the inner city, in an area that is accessible by public transport. Our AFLW team play in front of 2 dogs and cat out at Casey. Look at Punt Road and wht it offers VFL and AFLW supporters. Look at Collingwood and the crowds they pull into Vic Park. I could keep going. We are missing opportunities for growth and exposure. The game will NOT grow in Casey, now will our club. With Melbourne City FC there now, we are in a bad spot

There is a easy fix to all our discussion here. Tell us what is happening MFC. Enough of this " we cannot say it might upset the government" [censored]. That just looks like an easy cover up for no progress in 5 years.

Surely the board have received positive vibes from the state government otherwise why persist with the MCG precinct. If we get knocked back there will be a lot of egg on the faces of our board members.

Like others i just want to know where we stand. Will the government come through for us or not. I don't understand why it needs to take so long. Give us an answer, one way or the other, so we can move on with other plans

We need to build Facilities within the Great Southern Stand upgrade

If we don’t get in there. It won’t happen

Not enough room to build indoor facilities, gyms, pools, video rooms, meeting rooms etc that are needed today.  And then somewhere for the administration and football departments.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
