Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The AAMI park redevelopment passing by without us being attached is a little worrying.

But there’s a massive MCG Southern Stand redevelopment on the horizon that really should include covering the train tracks and redeveloping Richmond station.

Maybe a late pivot has been made.

What the hell?!

What happened to the training base to be built near Gosch's Paddock?

Didn't we get the oval expanded for the very reason that we will eventually get a home base built there?!

If this isn't the case then I will definitely feel like we have been lied to!

I can understand that things will take time...but we need some hope of progress.

I hope that many Melbourne members (not just myself) will complain about this at the Melbourne Football Club's next AGM.

We cannot simply let this issue linger in limbo forever.

Besides winning Premierships our number 1# priority is for the Melbourne Football Club to finally get a home base built. No more excuses!

We have been waiting over 50+ years.

As much as we want to be in the MCG precinct if that isn't plausible we will need to bite the bullet and look at other alternatives such as the Caulfield Racecourse which is building a massive sports facility there.

Every other club in the AFL has a home base. It is time for us to have the same!

They have locked themselves on  to the G only  plan and now they cannot back down. IMO a home will not be found until she leaves and someone who is not welded to the G takes over.

What makes you think an incoming government will do that plan? They have already signalled that the health system is there major objective.

The MCC and AFL have a lot of weight to get the Southern Stand rebuilt regardless of government. Expanding that to cover the train lines and redo Richmond station is more likely under Labor, but some part of that will probably be included. It’s years away and wouldn’t be the quick fix solution we want, but could be the answer. It’s just a thought.

your “it’s just a thought” sadly seems to be the best idea/ info we have. If the club doesn’t sort this out in our golden era, the members are gonna burn the house down on the way down.
In an era where I feel amazingly proud of the club in almost all ways… it feels like we still have this one seriously embarrassing area. The thread taps  me into how I used to feel all the time about the dees.

Cannot agree with you on the members burning the place down. MFC are too placid for that. We will just shake our heads and walk away.

It makes my blood boil with anger this current predicament! 😡

Look what the Western Bulldogs have here: https://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/news/1201190/bulldogs-set-for-vu-whitten-oval-surface-and-landscaping-works

Look what the Richmond Tigers have here: https://architectureau.com/articles/council-approves-65m-revamp-of-home-of-afl/

What about the Melbourne Demons? We are still football nomads having to travel between Casey Fields (which is wonderful but very far away from me) and Gosch's Paddock. With our offices at AAMI Park which we have to share with others.

We deserve a home base just for the Melbourne Football Club and nobody else.

The MCC have screwed us for years! They should of built us a home ground in the 1950s or 1960s. At least then we wouldn't have had to worry about the current circumstances we are in.

Having the administration and the football department separated has caused numerous problems over the decades.

None of us should EVER give up on this goal of a home base being built for the Melbourne Football Club. This is just as important (if not more) as winning more Premierships.

From now on, we as Melbourne members and supporters, must demand from the Melbourne Football Club board for this issue of a home base to be rectified!

If not in the MCG precinct (ideally), then Caulfield Racecourse or Toorak Park or wherever is an area that is suitable.

None of us should rest until our home base is finally built with a wonderful bronze statue of Robbie Flower or David Neitz out the front of it!

Personally i just want to win Premiership Cups. As long as we play Home games on the MCG and are still under the Umbrella of the MCC i am cool

It will be decades before anything is built.
Gosch’s has had an surface upgrade. That is the most important step at this stage

Yep, I too am in it solely for premierships.

However, if having a permanent home base gives us even a 5% boost of achieving them, then it’s a no-brainer for me.

Our home will be in the MCG precinct, and it will be done in conjunction with the Vic Govt. This has all been stated. What has pushed out is the timeline obviously. I highly doubt the Club has been telling porkies to us. What I believe is that there have been Govt delays or changes, to which we cannot speak, or else Rolley or Pert would have informed us. If it wasn’t going to happen we would have been told, and a new search would have been instigated. I have complete confidence it will happen. As someone has suggested, the delay may be that our new home could now be included in the MCG upgrade (which would be a far better option in my view - but may take longer).

As someone else said, premierships are more in our complete control now, so let’s get a couple more. The big picture will take care of itself, in its own time.

AAMI Park…

I don't think there are 13 cups I am not sure when it changed but was only a flag at one stage. The flags were stored by the MCC and it a clean out they sent them to the tip.

If that happens before 2030 I will be astounded. We have been hearing the same non story for 5-6 years now. I am over this " we cannot answer because it is at difficult stage " crap the current government has no interest in us. And why would they give money to a bunch of silver tails where there are no votes. Why can't they say there are some serious problems to getting our home. It is going to take another 5 years to get a site approved? What will the excuse be in December after a change of government? And if the current mob is returned?

I think also 2 years of Covid may be responsible for the government not being able to engage sufficiently to get it done.

Can we just talk on the level here?

We have world class facilities for high performance at two locations; these enable our players to be the best they can be.

What we don’t have is a centralised base that houses our footy dept and our admin.

And we don’t have a social club aspect to any location that members can go to.

The first one is a genuine annoyance and the second one is a laughable pipe dream, but neither of these things are a hindrance to winning games of footy and being successful.

Just thought it should be said.

I get the disappointment, but some of the comments here are way over the top.

First, the Board is negotiating with Government. They cannot simply keep us updated on "where things are at" or tell us "what has gone wrong". That's a sure way to get nothing from Government.

Second, the calls for Roffey or the Board to resign are wild. The club has never been as stable as it is right now. And people here want them to resign?! For what?! So the next people can come in, risk instability, and still not get it done like every board before them? No thanks.

We are all disappointed, but no way would I risk the current state of the club to take a punt on a new board that claims they can "get it sorted". We're in a premiership window, nothing should be done that could jeopardise the chance of more premierships in the coming years (including destabilising the Board).

Prior to 1959 there were no cups produced.  Only Flags.  In 2004 the AFL allowed clubs to purchase newly minted cups won before 1959.  They now receive a cup and a flag when the Premiership is won.

Spot on rpfc, I have been saving all through the absence at Goschs that Casey is an excellent facility and that we won a GF from there and away from the G. What is annoying is the time line. IMO things will only change with a change of government. There are no votes in it for the current mob.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
