Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think the most important part of any new training facility is it needs to be super attractive to players and staff. That means the space needs to be large enough to house all facilities with room to grow and in a location where it's attractive for players and staff to live nearby or that it's an easy commute.

Any facilities for fans in my opinion are secondary. However honestly if it has the above, it basically covers fans needs also. Players and staff also want access to good coffee and food, either onsite or nearby.

If the MCG precinct can provide this then great. Otherwise in my opinion we should not be wedded to it

Damn right

where do players live?

proximity to where they are predominantly is the thing with excellent facilities

Supporter facilities follow that priority

It seemed to take a long time for you too grow up. Extended adolescence? Took me 30-odd years to mature as well.....

The Sandringham/MFC alignment did not end well so perhaps joining Port would just be continuing the rift.

In reality I think Port would prefer to fold or move into another comp. They certainly have a lot of passionate supporters.

They still do.  Great band!

One of my great childhood memories (very hazy now) was seeing the P & Ds at the Apollo Bay Leisure Centre when I was approx 14. Was not the biggest crowd I’m sure they played too but enthusiastic. One of the lads I went along with tried to stage dive... 1 bloke made a half hearted attempt to catch him... it didn’t end well.

what is your point here? Sandringham Footy Club is still in the Blood

It will be ok those Port Melbourne supporters have all left, gone to gaol been shot, or moved to warmer climes.
it’s only trendy Chardonnay sipping lefty’s who have never worked that live there now.  I might feel right at home.
I just think we need a base. Close to the MCG. Not way out at Casey. Ok for some training but not socialising or as a base

Point was I was making a not-very-funny joke...... 60's+70's+80's being a max of 30 years throughout which you said you "grew up," and then on turning that back on myself having had an extended adolescence.....

No offence.... ?

At least one aspect of the Sandringham / MFC alignment worked out ok though ... I well remember standing behind the Sandringham interchange on the bay side of Trevor Barker Oval and seeing this young guy named Nathan Jones raring to go.

Prophetically, I thought this guy needs to get a game in the red and blue.     Could be okay .... the rest, as they say, is history.

Yes, I remember, back in those days I was playing with Glenhuntly,  Used to go to some of the VFA games with other players on a Sunday, usually to Sandy

Sad but true, quite a few mates from say 65 till 73, from all clubs, have not survived to see us inbeaten through 6.

If you fly too high or too hard, its a long way down and the sudden stop,   well,,,,,  glad I did not do the whole stupid stuff.

Alcohol was more than enough.   but very sad for a couple of Demon mates.

I saw in "The Age" newspaper today that the Western Bulldogs are obtaining another training ground at Skinner Reserve in Braybrook. Well done to them I guess. It definitely helps when the Mayor of Maribyrnong Council is a Western Bulldogs supporter (as you can see by his tie in the photo shown in the article)!

Here is the link to the article: https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/a-huge-opportunity-western-bulldogs-find-second-home-at-skinner-reserve-20210420-p57kof.html

I hope that the new MFC President Kate Roffey is paying attention to this and is working hard behind the scenes to sort out our new training base close to the MCG.

I do admit I like the idea of another training base and perhaps a social club at the Caulfield Racecourse. But I don't think we could be lucky enough to be able to have 3 training bases!

Let's sort out what is going to happen at the MCG precinct first. It's just a shame the East Melbourne Cricket Ground was never relocated next to Jolimont Train Station back in the 1920s.

  • 2 weeks later...

Funny how every other club across the codes has the facility as the highest priority and will sacrifice location for it.

Not us, we’ll settle for sub-standard facilities as long as we are within reach of the MCG.

We are on a long road to nowhere

PS Don’t know anything more than that, just though it worth a mention.

So that means it would only be the Dees at AAMI, the Rebels moved to Princess Park didn’t they?

"It will be a great venue for Storm to train (at)". This, and the modest $17m cost; I don't think they're moving there. Just a 'community contribution' to local grass roots, and potential talent pool maybe. The Casey Fields 'makeover' was $8m.

No, Storm are staying at AAMI.

Their junior development and women's teams are being based at Broadmeadows.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
