Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The board should look at Toorak Park. Right next to a train station in Demon Heartland. I’ve seen people bemoan the fact there is no parking there, but there is  just as much around that precinct as there is at Victoria Park and Moorabbin.

Several years ago the Dees experimented with midweek training nights there and it was a huge success. Its redevelopment would benefit the community and could be used by Prahran juniors and women’s teams. These are the things that underpin the likelihood of government funding.

Also, there is a great pub next to the ground.

It's not big enough the playing area i.e. and no room for development. And just to top it off the council does not want us there.

What about Brunswick St Oval then? Surrounded by a park and a Bowls Club. City of Yarra seem to have embraced the development of Victoria Park

At the risk of being boring it ain't near the G.

I personally would be very happy with this move as I live in Rose Street just three minutes walk. Within a block I have met 12 neighbours who follow Melbourne. By the way the pub has closed permanently.

I cannot understand this, Why wouldn't Hawks go back to Heartland and redevelop Glenferrie Oval?? Beautiful patch of grass and conveniently placed Dingley??? WTF

Glenferrie Oval was a misshaped sardine tin,  the main reason Hawthorn left there in the 1960s.

why not ??

Pies moved from Vic Park

Bombers moved from Windy Hill

Hawks moved from Glenferrie

etc etc etc

South Melbourne moved from South Melbourne ....... to Sydney

Fitzroy from Brunswick Street ..... to the Junction Oval, then eventually on to Brisbane

I wanted to bring this back up on the AGM thread as it was an active discussion around our training base. As it stands the men's will be training out at Casey for the year. I've had my own opinion about this and I've felt that this simply cannot be a viable long term option because one of the key reason will be the struggle of attracting future recruits because of the distance etc. I have reasons but a lot have already covered it off in thr AGM thread.

Interesting I was reading an article on Shaun McKernan just then and found this bit interesting around our obvious interest in him last year. Now I'm not saying that I'm spewing we missed out on him etc, but I do worry that by trying to attract big name players, this could be one of the key hurdles that may potentially effect us.

He had a choice of his third AFL club, with Melbourne also showing interest in McKernan at the end of last season.

He said the call to pick the Saints was ultimately based around location, with McKernan reluctant to travel every day from his home in Greenvale to the Dees’ base at Casey Fields.

“It wasn’t anything to do with Melbourne. I had a pretty good chat with Goody [coach Simon Goodwin]

“I told him it’s got nothing to do with where the club’s at, just really a personal decision.”

It’s not just for the year, it’s “forever” from my take from Pert/Bartlett interviews over the last year.
Casey is the MCG sized training ground and any city ground is Docklands sized ground.

Some players will be fine with it and others not, just like players who don’t want to travel to Dingley or Tullamarine or far western Sydney.

Also the club has been pretty clear they’ve looked at all options within the inner Melb precinct via working groups, it’s not like they’ve missed an oval or 6 to explore...

i asked peter jackson at the time whether it was being considered as an option

as @old dee said, it was ruled out as an option due to no room to grow, existing infrastructure in place needing a complete re-do, and stonnington council being, well, stonnington council

The club could partner up with some kind of organisation to generate funds, create interest and added value in terms of community benefit to outweigh any challenges with building on public parkland or removing trees. Would be a good sell. I heard that Apple stores have a good track record.

Or what about Brewmanity through Neita, if we develop a home training base with a micro-brewery business on the side. Gotta find a way to replace that gaming revenue...

We can pretty much guarantee all these ovals everyone is listing have been investigated somewhat by the club already. There's not going to be an 'aha' moment for Pert and co while perusing Demonland.

It's going to be either a redeveloped/rejigged Gosch's configuration or it will be Casey.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but Caulfield racecourse could be an option.

Horse training it set to cease at the racecourse in 2023 and then redeveloped into a local sporting precinct.

Basically in the heartland of our supporter base, I think it could be good to have the club within the local sporting community of the area.

That's an understatement HFF. If we end up in Casey Bartlett and this board will be run out of town

Has it? I knew it shut down and then reopened. Perfect opportunity to buy the pub too then haha. There’s your social club ?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
