Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I actually think the logistics of it aren't too hard.

Enlarge Goschs oval to be similar to MCG and build gym, admin, etc on carpark F, which is between AAMI and Goschs Paddock grassland. Three story building should be sufficient on such a large space. Four story if underground car parking is included. Numbers of staff/players/FD at AFL clubs will be shrunk dramatically soon.

We already use the grassland around the oval for rehab group, it's possible some Aussie rules posts could be put up at one end, even if it's not a defined oval. It's a big space which is not protected parkland and IMO underused. Take down a few trees trees to enlarge the current oval, shift the internal footpath, put in some decent landscaping to appease Council and resurface the oval up to AFL standard.

The hard part of all this is finding the money, which will be near impossible for the next 10 years. It's also no certainty that the other sporting clubs will survive and/or stay at AAMI

Hi Mr Shadow back after a length illness that is still not fixed, have had no interest in sport last few months however life goes on and I come on to Demonland and the second thing I see is the subject of a home ground.

Your comments are spot on!

I have no problem with the MFC being head quartered at Casey but it will never happen.

The board has said on a number of occasions that the facility has be near the G that leaves one option the Goschs paddock area.

IMO the plan would have been announced by now if not for the Virus.

The state government is not going to be seen giving money to a silver tails football club in this envoirnment. IMO unless we can fund it ourselves the tradition will continue. Forget about us having a new home for the rest of this decade the funds just won't be available.

Collingwood won a flag using Goschs we can too it is not ideal but there is no other alternative while the facility has to be close to the G!

No for an AFL club. Much better than Gosch’s $hithole. Have you ever been there?

well for one thing it doesn't have the management/administrative facilities that we have at both the mcg and aami centre

but it certainly would be good wind training for games in tassie :)

Nonsense. Great facilities and the oval is also excellent.

the oval last year was a quagmire due to broken drainage and the facilities are okay but nothing great. If it has a gym for example it's rather basic.

It does however have space and expansion capability going for it plus it is located in a large area zoned for high performance sports

Maybe, maybe not...  but the Federal government might,  as part of a stimulus package to get people back to work.  Better strike whilst the irons Hotter than Hell.

The Feds have saved 60 Billion,  and they spent 70 Billion trying to keep their unemployment numbers low,  via that stimulus idea.

When times are tough put the squeeze on them.  those bluetongued Liberals.

Test them,  to see if they cough, or sneeze up,  some cashola for our plight.

No it’s not. At best you’re looking at 45mins from Richmond. At its worst it’s well over an hour.

It beggars belief that Berwick Volkswagen still advertise the fact they are 25 minutes to the CBD.

That’s clearly at 4am during stage 3 lockdown laws.

Had a bit of a play with how a redeveloped Gosch's Paddock could look.

Summary:

  • Collingwood sized oval and running track
  • MFC Facility with Pool / Gym / Offices (and the "Social Club / Function Centre")   - 3 stories high. Approx
  • Increased underground car parking
  • Indoor Hall (like the EFC Hangar) towards the end of the facility. Modelled on the Casey Fields hall currently being developed but size increased to fit as much hall as possible. Can be used by Melb Victory / Storm.
  • 2 x Rugby / Football pitches along Punt Road
  • Upgraded running tracks around and between ovals
  • Re-aligned off-ramp from City Link to meet up with Kelso Street intersection. Increased parkland.
  • Common grass area.
  • Small hill for oval viewing in top right hand corner.
  • Upgraded seating, playground, exercise facilities placed around the park.

Thoughts?

At the worst of gridlock times on the Monash carpark, you're getting closer to 1.5 hours Cards.

It truly is a [censored] road. There are way too many on-ramps, imo.

We should have exclusive rights to the indoor hall, 13th. Anything that is built for us as a training facility should be ours and only ours (from a professional organisation perspective). Happy for it to also be used as a community facility, except for all those [censored] NIMBYS (they'd be the first to want to access it too i reckon)

Silver Tails is such a falsity. We're one of the least financially able of the Victorian clubs.

I don’t like the “hill” between our oval and the “pitch”.... (tremendous work).

I just checked the maps on phone thingo and 44mins it tells me..... I know this minute ain’t reality of a few years from now or 3 months ago, saying 30mins is an outright lie (unless you live in Noble Park or Dandenong). Casey is too far for mine.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
