Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Doesn't really understand anything from the coaches perspective.

Modern day players don't have a clue what goes on in the coaches box, they only know the little that has to do with their own position.

Any player that goes into coaching as an assistant says they didn't know what hit them.

They didn't know the half of what goes on.

Then it's another step up to the top job.

This appointment is a retrograde step to my mind...

The game has gone past just a couple of ex players sitting on the couch.

They're going with their personality pick rather than someone with a coaching background in the modern game.

As footy fans and people that take a real interest in the game, we deserve better.

Brad Scott, a left field choice perhaps. I know he has a job in the AFL but the others all have jobs off the couch, it shouldn't preclude someone like him.

So, if we look at all the TV footy media 9 have picked up Lyon, a good get.

...but they cancel it out with Lloyd. Right up there in the useless category.

Apart from Lyon the only other coach I can think of on TV is Mathews and he's long past it, doesn't really know the players and doesn't do his homework.

Players are on the ground doing the work. I like the way Nick speaks

He will be fine

What’s your point rjay?
When did Healy coach?

When did Brown coach?

Dunstall?

Sheehan?

etc.

I think Riewoldt is the pick of the (small) bunch.

I think the old model worked for then but now the game is more coached than ever, for better or worse.

Reckon football media is behind the times with little to no new ideas.

My point is there should be at least one coach on the panel.

One coach off, one coach on. Not another player.

Take Nick on but get rid of one of the others.

Dunstall who is no longer on the show was the pick of that bunch for mine...an astute football brain.

I see where you’re coming from but my issue is that if you only have one coach, you’re effectively only getting one opinion on this show irregardless of the debate they contrive.
But saying that, even on 360 the coaches seemed to align their views more often than not and it was all pretty meh.
Maybe recently retired players will provide greater value insights to us after all as opposed to the antiquated views of the likes of Roos.

Can only wait and see now.

I would rather listen to Nick Reiwoldt analyze a situation than the cryptic rambling of Ross Lyon any day

We differ greatly on this.

...and remember, Lyon is not coaching a club now so I expect him to be quite illuminating rather than cryptic.

I wonder if David King had thought he was about to get his old job back...

To be fair Roo is probably the best of them left. They could have taken a big risk and get Hird back. At least he has, albeit completely tarnished, coaching experience.

To be perfectly honest i don't think roos leaving is much loss. i rarely found his comments interesting or particularly insightful. And he often had biases that he struggled to hide.

To be perfectly honest i think Roos leaving is a big loss for Fox, as for the Footy public generally, not so much. Probably we might find it a gain.

Being one who also finds it hard not to speak straight, i could fully appreciate the conditions he would have worked under there.

As to his comments, successful coaches meld to players not to media hacks....eg Barassi, Blight and Sheedy

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
