Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

There are other photos on my Instagram account, I can't be arsed copying them across

If a Mod wants to, feel free

Just a suggestion but if you load multiple photos in to the one instagram post you can then move them all across far more easily. You can tag the individual players in each photo rather than the caption.

Question for the track watchers, is there any signs towards a different game style that we might be employing next year? While I feel like we don't have a the patience and poise for the "keep away" footy that the Hawks were so good at for ages I do think our style (even in 2018) was too chaotic. It was high risk, high reward but last year showed that it leaves us very exposed so I'm hoping that we will be showing a little more patience and intelligence with the way we use the ball.

I’d say yes and no.

I think I’ve seen a greater desire to switch the ball. And move the ball around the forward arc. They also hit up the diagonal half forward switch in a drill the other week.

Overall I’d expect better pressure and defensive efforts more than a complete change in ball movement.

Yesterday I wasn’t overly happy with the decision making and skills. Even allowing for good pressure and tricky weather it was messy.

For example in the side to side keepings off drill I thought Clarry was still messy and firing off suspect handballs when I’d like to see him using both hands and adding more stop and start.

I don’t want us to be more like Hawthorn were, I want more like Richmond now which is high tempo but on the back of really great football smarts. They always keep their space and positioning and don’t overcommit to the contest. Not sure we’ve taken much of a stride there yet.

Just to repeat what others have said about the reports from the track watchers and the photographers.

Love the photos but I love the varying comments and opinions from the watchers,  non one it seems is putting out Club propaganda, rather their own opinion. Not sure how I will feel if we lose the first four games but I am thinking that the problems from 2019 have gone. and we will improve somewhat on 2019                                           win the first 3 and then lose to the saints

This is a shot of Bedford putting every ounce of his strength into a kick that sent the ball full force into Brayshaw’s nuts! The ball rebounded straight back into Bedford’s face and then his hands and he played on... Brayshaw writhed around in agony on the ground for a couple of minutes (what must have seemed like a lifetime to him), before being assisted to the sidelines where he quickly recovered and rejoined the session.

Concussion, broken jaws and a kick square to the nuts - the Brayshaw boys seem to get all the most unpleasant of blows dealt to them.

Again the answer is can't be arsed

You need to temper your expectations on Kozzie, he sat out the last bit of training, the tank was empty

He is way behind Jackson and Rivers with his fitness base

Thanks to the administrators for providing quick links to the quality training reports by Deespencer, Baghdad Bob, George and others at the front of this topic so that we can get straight to the important stuff.

The training posts have been excellent in their objective and succinct coverage of the happenings at training and they are the best feature of the summer months.

In their training reports they avoid the banal commentary in other posts. They have elevated their contributions for the benefit of those of us who just wish to follow our team, unconditionally support ALL our players no matter what and are excited about season 2020.

2020

Go dees.

Melk has a right hamstring issue said he should be running in a few days. Word on KK is that he hasn’t had a solid period of feeling right and they need him to be good for a solid 2 weeks before progressing. Tomlinson said he should be back in the main group on Friday. Oskar has a niggling groin but hopes to join the main group towards the back end of the camp. May just waiting for his stitches to come out (Friday?) before returning to the main group.

We need you to do the mfc injury reports each week .. thanks for the insights

Thanks for that DS, totally agree that Richmond have the right mix of tempo footy. They know when the time to go is and they do it well, what I also really like about them is they have this ability to adapt and improvise to situations such as clever tap ons or just keeping the ball moving forward. I'm not sure if/how they train for it but there have been occasions where I would've loved to see our players do similar things such as if a forward is going up for a marking contest against two defenders and knows marking it is tough prospect, thumping it on to Melbourne player to the open goal.

I feel like Trac has tried this a few times, sometimes it works (and looks breathtaking) and sometimes it fails and looks messy.

Also just on KK, I was hoping for a Brayshaw like miracle (and perhaps that's what the club was hoping for when they got him) but if he is struggling with affects now (when was his last knock?), surely for his longterm health it's time to pull the pin. Maybe for his recovery (for life not footy) the best thing is being around the club, and there's no one crying out to be upgraded right now, but it's sad for the bloke that it just doesn't seem to be coming right for him.

Thanks to everyone who has posted reports and photos this summer. I’ve been overseas for a month and it was great to have updates. Can anyone give me specifics on how Mitch Brown is fitting in? I can see him playing a role in our forward line this year, despite most seeing him as depth. Is he training well? Does it appear that he is likely to play March series football?

Brown is one of those players that you don't notice, he just does his job and at the end of the game he will have kicked a couple and you would ask when?.....He is training with the forwards and just fits into the scheme of things.

He may play as a 3rd tall, but should any of the main forwards get injured he will be into the side post haste.  He kicked 21 goals at Essendon last year which was only one less than Petracca, our leading goalkicker.

He is tall, and can probably fill a role down back as well, if needed.  Very nice pickup for us, and still baffled as to why the Dons got rid of him considering  the situation with Daniher and other injuries in their forward line.

Brown features at #41 for average marks in 2019 (although #192 for contested marks)

Also worth noting that we've added Tomlinson at #31 and Langdon at #46 to our list.

Only Lever (who played 8 games) and Fritsch in this ballpark last year for us.

Photos don’t tell everything but he didn’t look super fit last November. And you can’t carry blokes who aren’t fit now.

Makes sense. We are not a strong marking side. In 2018 we were great at bringing the ball to ground which was the formula in the forwardline. Melksham is the best at this. But still not strong at marking the pill like a west coast.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
