Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I went today and haven't seen this many in full training for a long time. I was so happy to see Jack Viney fit and in everything, you can just tell he's loving being out there. Like everyone else has mentioned this pre season you cant take your eye's off Petracca, I'll tell you right now the penny has absolutely dropped, he's in for a big one. Others that are way ahead of this time last year - Lever, May, Weid, Hibberd, Oliver, TMac. My only concerns are Tomlinson who's starting to miss a large chunk of pre season & KK who seems to be in no mans land just at the minute.

Also this was the first time I'd seen Luke Jackson up close..... Wow.

I'm not going to tell you he's going to run out there from day one a dominant because like all kids they need time to develop but i honestly don't think ive seen a kid that quick & agile for his size, he's super competitive, he can obviously take a big mark and his awareness in congestion was excellent. Also im not sure what the panic was with his kicking, it looked just fine to me. I could honestly see him playing as a midfielder in a few years.

We already have one in Bradtke, but because he is B class rookie, no fanfare

He is developing nicely

Should be fun to watch him and Jackson in the forward line at Casey

Fact 5 clubs were chasing him to join them when he made a call to go as a B class rookie

He was only a ‘puppy’ last year, and was only introduced to Casey as the season progressed.  He showed a few things of real interest, and I am keen to see how he develops.  As you say, Saty, Casey will have a very interesting forward line with Jackson and Bradtke, until they get call ups to assist in the seniors.  If Kozzie is buzzing at their feet....

Training review from an AFL track watcher: https://www.afl.com.au/news/267311/draftees-shine-as-fit-again-dees-leave-horror-2019-behind

Extracts:

  • [vandenBerg] was able to run in the off-season for the first time since arriving at the Demons in the 2014 rookie draft and has been doing so for the best part of four months. Most encouragingly, vandenBerg took part in midfield drills.
  • [Pickett] sought treatment for a sore left patella and had it taped but completed the session without any noticeable issues while running, leaping and wrestling in one-on-one work.  He swapped comfortably between kicking on his left and right foot, was clean at ground level, showed good intensity and displayed clean hands but was blowing hard by session's end.
  • Jay Lockhart and Harry Petty – who showed promise in attack through necessity this year – continue to train with the defenders and forwards, respectively, but are expected to play at both ends in 2020
  • Second-year players Tom Sparrow, Kyle Dunkley and James Jordon were in the thick of the midfield work.

Very encouraging, especially Aaron!

Vanders went with the forwards when they broke into 'recognisable' groups

There are many words quietly expressed about Bradtke, his ability and his developmental progress as a senior footballer. It may be opportune this pre-season to include reports on him and one or two others in similar circumstances. B-rookie is the hard route so I guess we all hope that he emerges well.

He is progressing nicely, had a bit of calf issue but is now back full training, has good hands, neat kicking skills, of course like Jackson, gets knocked around by Gawn and Preuss when doing ruck drills

Was working 1 on 1 with Stafford the other day on his goal kicking, didn't miss one

Important bit is, he loves being a footy player, always smiling, think he can't believe his luck, playing for the club he supports, like Harmes

Yeah i see the similarities and i like Austin but from my eye Jackson looks a class above Bradtke. I mean there's good reason LJ was All Aus, 2nd in the Lark medal & pick 3. More than happy if Bradtke can prove me wrong over time.

Thank you for this separate report, Saty; it is difficult to amass news of the Dees from Adelaide - even though this site is far better than the MFC site, there are gaps in information, naturally, from time to time. I appreciate your efforts and reports - and this specific missive. Keep up the good work on our behalf.

This year (2020) will be another development year for Bradtke. Watched a couple of Casey games where he was hardly noticed all day. But to me that's fine as he was a project raw tall prospect that was always going to take time.

I don't expect much from him next as i expect the bigger bodies to still push him around as he is still relatively skinny but also his game sense around him still needs work. I think his 3rd year under a AFL system is where we will really start to hopefully get a real glimpse of his talent. I like him and hope he really comes on.

That or he could be the next Max King who was on our list..

Love it.

To be honest i was expecting a better mark than a two grabber where he didn't get far off the ground.

Soaring across the pack is a bit of a stretch!

Figured it out afterwards BB. We last met more than 10 years ago at a pub in Hawthorn.

Agree with the confidence for 2020. We’re closer than most realise. Richmond, WCE then about 6 (including us).

All the best.

If he works as hard as Harmes did then he'll get there.  It would be amazing if he got to that level.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
