Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What about the unknown player he buried into the turf?

That would be today's mystery.  (Maybe, Andy, you could run a little book on the side and have a prize for the member who guesses the name of the poor soul buried by the Trac...)

I am not very good at reporting the drills, find it boring

Suffice to say most of the drills were similar to those described on Monday

They did do yet another weird one where they rolled on the ground and another player jumped over them , then laid on tbe ground etc etc  will post a pic, used to do this as part of battle training in the Army 40 years ago

Oliver annoys me, minding his own business waiting to join in drill, a loose ball bounces behind him,  one handed flicks it over his head, catches and handballs to a player running past all in one motion

Had a good chat to a guy leaning on the fence, seemed very knowledgeable, it was Jeff Gieschen

Stand out again Petracca

There is definite desire to bring more physicality to our game, hence all the solid contact drills

There is also an emphasis on burst speed, in  the handball driill they are being encouraged to run and also chase of course

Early days but Trac, Salem, Oliver and Brayshaw ssemed to have increased their leg speed, maybe told to

Jordon is with the mids if they break up into recognisable grouos

So I want to take my son this Friday.

Reading a few reports looks like I should get there around 9 am ? He is only four so I don't want to be hanging around for over an hour of nothing is happening. How long does training usually run for?

Don’t take the following as gospel.

The club lists training as starting at 10:30am.

Our trackwatchers are reporting training starting at 9 and sometimes going for 3 hours.

Not sure why the club is saying 10:30am.

Also in the handball drill , they must hit the target person on the full, and also the player with ball, must not be able to be touched by a defender. If any of these happens, the ball is turned over to the other side.

The object of the drill is to handball a goal, and the teams are evenly paired.

This drill and others are so much more intense than LY.

Even the match simulation was even numbers per team, and again a mistake meant a side losing the ball

in another area, others were been showed how to tackle better, by starting lower down when tacking.

It's good to watch isn't it

If we can begin to translate this to match day

Asked the players, they find it really hard work but they are enjoying it

Interesting. I recall in recent times we were running drills with attackers outnumbering the defence?

This more intense drilling after 3-4 months should have a Positive affect in games

It is also a way of getting our players fit

You can see the players are puffing at the end of the drill

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
