Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Apples and Oranges.  Nev was a low pick who really struggled to find a place in the AFL.  Jackson is sought-after and would be welcome at any club in the league.  The WA clubs are no doubt already in his ear about moving home in two years if he's grabbed by anyone else.  He may not plan to do it, but I don't think there's any doubt that they will be pressuring him to do it.

Cripps  Simon Black, Buddy,  Corey, Duncan all top players who have never entertained going home

Just like Pav never wanting to leave Freo for SA

Not everyone is the same, Jesse's circumstances were ever changing and a lot of it was out of his control

Must say I'm getting a bit of national draft eve jitters myself (and no, I'm not in it - way too.old and too much of a hack for that).

I completed understand the folly of placing premiership hopes and otherwise unrealistic expectations on a bunch of highly rated, but unproven kids, but with the year we have just had, it shows the kind of despation for something good to emerge from yet another season from hell.

Out of curiosity, can anyone envisage GC doing a St Kilda and taking Jackson with pick 2 and letting Anderson slip through to 3?

We can only dream! Landing Anderson would be a dream. Such a shame we’re being robbed of him. He’s got the most superstar potential of any player in this draft by a fair way IMO.

Agree but Rowell and Anderson are on the same Unity ticket. They come together like Pie and sauce. Their view of being drafted by the GC is fortified by the thought (knowledge?) that they will be together on lonely Sunset Boulevard,  God’s waiting room.

So sick of all you Jackson,s no good and we want young, whinging , probably the same lot who wanted the essendon bloke instead of Oliver, Jackson will be twice as good as young, that is why taylor is picking jackson

Calm down Paulo,  we are allowed to voice our opinions,  my problems with the selection of Jackson will be  that we dont "need" him but we do "need" skill based players. Its the old argument of needs v best available. I like Pickett at 10 because we genuinely need that type of player.  Thats all, but as i have always said, if it is Jackson, then i will throw my full support behind him, the moment he is a demon then he is one of us.

I just watched Jacksons hls, He moves well, but im not sure he can kick that well. That is not exciting to me!

He will get the hang of it; kicking is, afterall, one of the easiest of onfield skills after practice and practice and guidance. As an adult, that should be little to worry about, I'd reckon.

I have a random question (for those on here in the know): do the recruitment team ever consult the current players on their thoughts prior to the draft? It would make sense - but I don't think I've ever heard of this spoken about.

I would imagine that Jordan Lewis would be a good source of potential player appraisal. Probably the best we have.

Hope you are right Deemania, because if the plan is to use him forward i would hope that he can kick well.

I think, underneath, we all miss him (Jesse) and would all like to see him still in the red 'n blue; however, we also all understand that he had enormous pressures upon him and returning home was his best means of achieving some amelioration of these circumstances.

just googled JB

Pick 8 and one of the Wikipedia footnotes refers to a Herald Sun article saying MFC were interested (we took scully and Trengove at 1 and 2 and then Gysberts at 11).... grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Mind you most of the 2009 draft didn't turn out that flash. (We did get Maxy at pick 34 though)

Originally from Maffra, Victoria, Butcher is a versatile key position prospect with great agility and pace for his size. Butcher is an excellent contested mark and has been noted for his "clean hands".[1] He was extremely impressive at the AFL Draft Camp with his speed (2.99 sec over 20 m) and repeat sprints (24.88 sec) being in the top 28 per cent of all players. He kicked 40 goals for the year for Gippsland Power and Vic Country in 16 games. He was a Vic Country Under 18 representative in both 2008 and 2009, including kicking three goals against Vic Metro in 2009.[2] Butcher is also an AIS-AFL Academy graduate. He was widely tipped to be the first key-position player to be selected in the 2009 draft.[3

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
