Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What to do with what is now Pick 32?

Yeah agree with this, surprised there hasn’t been more talk linking him with us as on paper he sounds like just what we need and has been rated higher than Pickett in all the draft articles. Might go a bit earlier than 28 though.

Anybody got any info on him?

More a medium sized half forward vs the likes of Weightman & Henry.  A bit like Jeffy build wise so possibly more options in the air and playing off a wing at some stage down the track with a tank behind him.

Has some tricks and major evasive skills / agility (2nd in the combine just behind Young) and LOVES a goal either side with little time or space when given the ball.  6 goals in 4 matches in the Nats is probably right up there with the best outputs in the carnival.

Downsides:  Not as consistent at this point (off the ball outside of goal scoring where he seems elite) as say a Henry or Weightman and the attack/pressure/2nd effort side appears to need a fair amount of work to get to the likes of those two.  The good is very very good when going though and i reckon he could end up being Jeffy (cat) like around goals even with limited opportunites.

Would happily take him from 15ish onwards on a needs basis and he is exactly what we need.  Fits the potential ideal Jeffy replacement 'project player' bill perfectly.

According to Twomey the Hawks are supposedly attempting to trade up their 2nd pick somehow to try and snag him, interviewing him last week...(tweet from Twomey below)...

..."Elijah Taylor one of the mysteries of the draft. Hawthorn has shown real interest recently, interviewing him last week. The hugely talented forward is not for pick No.11 but their next picks get used on Finn Maginness. Is Taylor in their sights if they get another top-20 pick?"...

Thanks RN great summary and sounds like a very good option for us if we miss out Pickett and Weightman but we may still need to do some sort of split that improves pick 28 to do it. I heard yesterday that Adelaide has been approached for their picks in the early 20s. Perhaps the Hawks.

Jeez I hope hawks don’t get a gun at 11, Maginness as f/s and Taylor on top of that.

I didn’t fancy a split with Gold Coast all along but 15&20 are starting to look very tempting. Going of recent phantoms that would get us Kemp or Robertson at 15 and then get one of Picket, Weightman or Taylor at 20.

i wonder if that means that the hawks have locked in that we are taking Pickett. and if we did trade 10 and 28 for a few picks in the teens that they'd take Pickett over Taylor..?

Still a slim chance for Roberston or Taylor at 28 Colm!

Well Kozzy is ours Rocky.  We are still in the mix to land plenty of talent that will go in the 20s.

Roberston, Schoenburg, Taylor, Williams etc

There’s been a few bolters so hopefully this gives us a crack at a player we really want. Think Robertson will be gone way before then( prob next pick) but more confident know that we can still pick up a really handy player at 28. Fingers crossed Taylor still there

Oh [censored] Bianco, Worrel and Sharp all still there too!

That’s Robertson, Taylor, Gould, Rivers, Sharp, Bianco, Worrel, Schoenberg, Williams all still there. Pick 28 could turn out to be a ripper for us! Exciting!!!

Now pick 30, probably moves to 31 and effectively pick 9 of the second night.

10 names:

Mids: Robertson, Sharp, Schoenberg, Ralphsmith, Rantall

Backs: Worrell, Bianco, Rivers, Gould, Perez

Forwards: Taylor, Williams, Mahoney

7 picks before us yeah?! That is an exciting list to pick from and going by the couple of bolters at end of round 1 you would think there will be another few bolters before our pick.

Are there options for us to trade up the order overnight?

I think the only thing we are allowed to do is trade a future 4th round pick to move up. 30 and a future 4th to Sydney for 27 - gives them some bonus academy picks for next year? I don't think they are accepting that.

30 and a future 4th to North for 28? If they know who we are taking they'll do that given they have 29. But probably isn't worth it.

As long as we don’t do anything outrageous, we are in a very good spot. Could tick off a bunch of needs in one draft. One of Rivers, Gould, Sharp, Taylor, Bianco or Williams would make me very happy.

And not an unrealistic chance that we’ll get to choose one either.

Honestly keen for us to draft Cahill just cause he is a mate of mine hahaha

Don't laugh he does some very solid work.... most of it at.ground level but i guess that's what many small forwards do.

Forgot about the likes of Gould & Bianco also.  Looks like a nice bonus ahead...fingers crossed.

I'm a Rivers fan, just seems so solid and I think our backline needs versatile that all round quality type who can play any of about 5 roles back there. I'm also interested in the idea of taking Williams and making him play half back to light a fire under him, very Sicily/Hardwick at Hawthorn like.

Otherwise if they want to go Taylor that's fine by me. Same with Sharp, Gould, Bianco, although those 3 are kind of positives and negatives with attributes, less versatile.

The only one who I haven't seen but I'm just fascinated by is the idea of Perez. A junior soccer star with elite kicking skills. Have you seen much of him J?

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
