Posting Unsubstantiated Rumours on this Website is Strictly Forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I recall Pert mentioning it a few months ago but I can't find it on mfc website nor seen a member email about it.  Apparently it is on tomorrow night.  Anyone have any details?

...maybe it is in a secret place and they don't want fans to attend .  Ok I'm being silly.

But some recent advice or timely reminder would be helpful for personal schedules.

Edit:  Just located the most likely place on mfc website:  Events (which in intself is not easy to find) https://www.melbournefc.com.au/melbourne-experiences/events but nothing listed.

Thanks to @trac5665who referred to club letter of Sept 12.  https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2019-09-12/a-letter-to-our-members

It would still be worth while the club sending members a reminder or putting it on the website.  Many would be like me who were busy at the time and missed reading it or have simply forgotten.

The details of this year's Post-Season Member Forum are:

Date: Tuesday 19th November 2019
Time: 6:00pm arrival and registration, for a 6:30pm start
Location: MCC Members Dining Room, Level 2, Gate 2, MCG.
Entry: Your valid 2019 or 2020 Melbourne Football Club membership card is required for entry.

My Monday morning gripes aside, it would be good to hear back from folks who attend.

Or anyone who has suggestions for questions to put them in this thread for attendees to consider.

They sure don't make it easy for members to attend!

According to that members need to 'Register their Attendance' and the form in the post below is the electronic form on which to register.

I wonder what happens if members turn up without registering.

What are the chances some muppet gets up and harangues the officials about last year. This is my only concern about spending the time to attend.

If we get a reasonable update directly from Goodwin , Pert and Bartlett and they don't talk in platitudes when answering questions it might be worth attending.

Some intelligent questions would go a long way as well. Things that have been queried here recently would be good. Eg; What's going on with the Coaching Panel and the appointment of a Forwards coach.

For myself, I would like to know if we have approached the MCC about access to the ground for Pre-Season training even if we only get it once or twice.

An update on our own club/training facilites would be appreciated.  Its a long time since the Jolimont Station proposal was canned.

Aside from our on field performance our own facilities is a critical part of our future.

Agree that a question needs to be raised at the members forum about this.

There can be no alternative, actually. It is well overdue to obtain our own club and training facilities - of a suitable standard, too - and it is a disgrace that the oldest football club in the world - in any code - has been left out to dry and crumble at Gosch's Paddock.

Agree mania, but i think a fair % of the blame lies with the club also.

Does an answer bother you?

I would be more concerned if nothing, or very little was said. Injuries aside, there were other issues and as a long time Member I would like to know what they were. We fell so far down (2 wins and 3 very lucky ones) for the entire season...

Let everyone know, so there is understanding

Unlike me who didn't read the email and forgot the event some 760 members didn't and have registered to attend.  Some may not turn up but it is a pretty decent level of interest - hopefully it won't be a vent-fest and there is time for info on plans going forward.

I have a couple of questions as to the timing of MFC events.

For the best part of the last decade the AGM has been around the end of November / early December but this year it is in February.

This forum has it would appear taken its place on the calendar of MFC events.

Why is the AGM off till Feb? For as long as I can remember we have not had a forum, why are we getting one this year.

Are both connected to an announcement of a new home?

Is there something happening that necessitates the AGM being held over for three months?

Should be an interesting night tomorrow.

If any Demonlanders are attending it would be great to hear a detailed report of the proceedings.

I am going but I am not the greatest of reporters, if there is no one else going I will give it a go for whatever my reporting ability is worth.

AGM's were actually in February every year up until perhaps 4-5 years ago, when they changed them to December. I wasn't even aware they changed it back.

My understanding what that this member forum was designed to enable members to seek some sort of explanation for the 2019 disaster and raise questions in response to it, rather than act as a forum that always takes place at the AGM. I just presumed the club strategically placed it in mid/late November knowing most people were out of AFL mode by then, and have lost the heat of anger over the pathetic season, and somehow have a level of optimism back again, negating likely negative questions. .

I couldn’t see there being any issues, and if there is I’d just throw in the “I filled in the electronic form and hit send, bloody computers hey?”

Well, now you've blown it, mate.

They're bound to read Demonland very carefully and will now be on the look out for a Galifianakis look-a-like, who uses a [censored] excuse.

Anyone else who can actually attend and who lives in the state of Victoria, could you please let us know how tomorrow night goes, as I can't make it? Thank you, kindly.

No, it doesn't bother me because it's history. I am interested in what actions have been taken to address the issues.

There is plenty of evidence to show the Club taking action to rectify things. Taking note of what has been changed, what I've read leads me to conclude that the Club has been very active.

I can see that it bothers you and I don't know how much attention you've been paying but listen to the Burgess interview and follow up with the Lystics AFL podcast and then look at what has been done and you will see the correlation. If someone wants to go along to the forum and bleat about the past season and they haven't done their due diligence , then I will continue to think of them as a Muppet.

DEE-RUBBING by George on the Outer

For the second week in a row, the Demons had to endure some particularly oppressive match conditions — this time, playing in 30 degree temperatures at the MCG, following the humid sticky Sydney atmosphere of last week.   The warmer conditions didn’t seem to worry the Dee’s since the ball was so much easier to handle, and handle it with surety they did in handing out a 45 point drubbing to the much fancied Western Bulldogs.   After a slow start that saw the Dogs out to

CROSSING THE PICKETT LINE by The Oracle

Melbourne’s performance in losing its Round Zero contest in Sydney has certainly caused the club, the coach and the players to come firmly under the watchful eye of the football world and exposed all of its aspects to a microscopic lens.   Much of the commentary surrounding them has been less than complimentary and, while some might argue that this is unfair after only one round, leaving aside some of the scuttlebutt that surrounds a lot of the discussion around the game, a fair amoun
