Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I thought his ranking on our forward line was fairly accurate based on 2019.

Reckon he has our list ranked in the right region - bottom half of the eight.  I don't think we are a top 4 list, yet.  We might be after the draft.

I do like that he has us ahead of Essendon but even then they are ranked too higly.  Reckon he has sold Sydney short at 17th.  And not sure how he could rank Adelaide at 15; not much going for them really.

Can't say that I like him or that I ever will.

If you took Max out we would still be bottom 4  I think

Very accurate assessment in my view  alot will have to go right  in terms of injury management Return to form player development Fitness and of course making good decisions in the draft

A long long way to go!

Fairly accurate I think. If we finish 8th with the potential to win the first round of finals it will IMO be a true indication of our talent. And after 2019 it will be a good year.

So our defence is 13th and our forward line is 14th.

But we make 8th overall.

This guy (Goddard, not you Old Dee) is an idiot analysis-wise.

Will be offered a job at Champion Data for sure.

Before this comment piece I thought we were an around eighth placed talent.

Of course all this is based on past performance the unknown is the potential of the list.

As a MFC fan I have watched "Potential" amount to little is terms of finals appearances over the last half century.

I cannot see our forward line kicking winning scores against the better sides and our back line will start the year without the only durable player of 2019. For me it is stretching the imagination to expect Lever and May to play 20 games each next year and without those two playing good games for most of the year our back line will have holes you could drive a truck through.

As I said if we make Eighth i think it will fulfill our ability in 2020

The ruck being worth the same weighting as each of the entire forward and defensive lines does tend to skew the table.

Take the ruck out and include it in the midfield the ranking is about 11-12 with Essendon at 8

I agree with him DJ every time  I look at our forward line I cannot see where the goals are going to come from against the better sides.

So what Doesn't that prove that injuries cut our list and form was affected by pre season surgery and associated lack of fitness.

What it is saying is that we are somewhere in between  2018 and 2019 with our list.

2020 will be the arbiter of our strength and potential for success or lack of it.

I'm tipping a minimum of 11 wins and confident if we get a good run from injury plus our many 23 yrs and below develop under friendlier  conditions and fitness we can even achieve more.

Many results this year hung on our last quarter and most ended up in close losses with very low scores. Our forwards are especially vital to the turnaround in wins.

It would be good to also have a depth measure.  Last year, we would have been 18th.  Hopefully we keep our best players on the park.  Pushed us down the list last year when we had too many injuries.

BTW we are equal 7th!

Certainly follows the trends - last year Brissie would not have made his top 8, now they are top 4!

Does this system mean Collingwood are nearly twice as ‘talented’ as us??

We won 5 games. 3 by less than a kick.

That is more than injuries but lull yourself to sleep that all will be OK.

I think he is way off the mark with our defence.

A fit May pushes us up a few more places than 13th, Lever adds another place or 2.

The structure of our defence will be interesting this year but I really rate May, next to Rance I think he's the best in the business.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
