Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Speaking of intent:

Gawn, the best player at the club and easily in the best 18 players in the league by a country mile makes it to day one of training for the juniors,  2 weeks before he’s required.

Meanwhile we have others talented players on paper  (one who had a pathetic end to the season) that could be stars, are still on holidays overseas.

I wasn’t privy to this information as I don’t live on social media.

Well done to both lads. Let’s see if it translates on-field

So you'd kept up with social media enough to know they were overseas, but not enough to know what they were doing overseas?

You've copped it from a few, but FWIW I don't agree at all with your attitude towards players not being back at training early.

There are a whole host of other issues that go beyond setting examples or getting the best out of themselves. Whether it's mental health, family, other fitness issues, perception from within the club. A whole host of things you, and the rest of us, have no idea about.

There's only a couple of months a year where the players aren't obligated to be within the AFL/MFC bubble. I love that Gawn and Harmes and TMac and others have come back early, but just because it works for them doesn't mean it should work for everyone.

Speaking of Viney, was watching a few of our highlights from 2016 and he was banging through classy goals from 50, and looked fantastic. Something he hasn’t done recently. Also pulled off a 39 touch 3 Brownlow vote performance in that breakthrough win over Hawthorn.

If he can get back to that kind of form, imagine what that could do to our midfield. Hopefully his prolonged injury issues means the best isn’t behind him?

Yep put $1 on him for the Brownlow get on now 150 to 1

Fair call, absolutely.

I just thought the below post by LH rang true to me with regards to the usual suspects leading the way in the right behaviours on the training track and on game day. Then yes, I got a little carried away with criticism of a couple of players that clearly upset other posters.

However, I’m not backing away from the fact that the likes of Salem and Petrcca haven’t lived up to expectations yet in their careers, but I suppose that’s not the point here.

This is the real problem, you left out the word "my". There is a difference between presenting an opinion and pontificating. We all should hope every player reaches their potential but when they don't meet our expectations the amount of criticism here can be way over the top.

So it seems that my post replying to Salty was taken down gee he can can have a crack at someone but not the other way he keeps his post up but not the other way is this what this forum about? sad state of affairs I was not rude but I guess he posts about training is more important than free speech in a non rude way way to go demonland.

FYI, I think you’ll find (i) Saty is not a moderator and (ii) you can’t delete your own posts (unless there’s been a software update). Whilst I didn’t read your post that was removed,  the moderators have a consistent approach on removing content. There’s a pinned thread that covers this.

Yes, impresses supporters. But if players are following their programs, has zero impact on anything else.

Totally disagree.

Leadership is a critical factor in our club that has been missing for a long time. And it starts with attitude. Actions speak louder than words and how they turn up, when they turn up has a big role to play.

Jack Watts was a case in point. After finishing for the first time in the top 5 at the B& F telling everyone he understood how hard you had to work and he would be working harder in future, comes back from the summer break with poor skin folds, poor attitude and misses all the JLT games as 'punishment'. When that is allowed to go unchallenged mediocrity becomes acceptable. Fortunately Goody marked Watts' papers that day.

Your example was a case of Watts not following his program...

I have no issue with players not coming back early, provided they come back in excellent shape. It shows just as much maturity and leadership by sticking to your program and doing extras, regardless if whether that is at the club or away.

Some blokes like to come back early, and that's to be commended. But guys that dont, but are still doing the work, shouldn't be looked down on for taking their time off

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
