Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Can’t believe the afl hasn’t matured from the go home factor. Professional footballers wanting to go home.

Getting paid half a mill a year and you miss your mates and mum? Grow up!

Money isn't everything, as they say.

Players want money, premierships and to play with mates. Increasingly though, they also want to be around family. Very gen Z.

Not everyone is as tough as you DD.

Deven Robertson attracting top-10 interest ahead of AFL Draft after being likened to Joel Selwood

“Robertson is more mature than your average 18-year-old – and it’s easy to see why the natural-born leader was named All-Australian captain after an impressive under-18 national championships for Western Australia.”

I've been away for a while and thought of posting a 'Deven Robertson' thread for quite some time, better late than never with this post.

I genuinely find it astounding that he's not more regularly spoken about as a Top-5 prospect. The two games I saw him play he was an absolute jet. He literally ticks all the boxes:

He's a massive accumulator of the ball. He's hard at it, both in and under as well tackling. He's got a good build and great athleticism, e.g. dash out of packs. He's got a great footy brain and knows where to run (he could easily start his career on the wing). And finally, he's a leader and by all reports a quality person that's an absolute professional. The one knock on him that comes up is that sometimes his kicking is 'inconsistent', but how does this differ from Serong or Ash. Additionally, I find it far easier to get a kid in the AFL system with the right attitude to improve their kicking skills (e.g. by 10-20%) as opposed to many of the other fundamentals (e.g. going in hard, sprinting from a pack, and natural running patterns) mentioned above. Keep in mind, this kid won the Larke Medal ahead of both Rowell and Anderson. While his sensational carnival was not a once off. He's been averaging the same stats for two years, ~30 disposals and 6 tackles per game, in the WA Colts.

I'm not saying select him with pick #3, all I ask is that Taylor and his team genuinely consider him there. Take that little extra time when comparing him to the other options at that point, because if he doesn't make it to us at #8 we've missed a star in a making.

I was actually wondering the other day if there is any chance he might go at 3. He is the type of player we like (and no I'm not taking about his kicking). I can picture Goody liking him.

I agree ignition - I am warning to the idea of him more and more at either of our picks.

We do not have a positional need but you can never have too many prime movers. If he forces Gus and Viney to shape up that's only a positive as well.

I can add a little to this. I know his Dads brother very well and met another of his Uncles and can absolutely vouch for the quality of his family. Extremely hard working, ethical and motivated family,

It seems the draft pundits have started talking about him a bit more as of late. Was mentioned today on the AFL website as a future leader.

A guy who averages 30 touches in the carnival has to be in with a top 5 chance. His stats are better than Walsh's at the same level.

Seems to be a case of WA hiding their top end talent again. When you win the Larke Medal though, it makes it tougher to hide a player.

Be fascinated to see if we go him.

Any of our WA watchers know if we've spoken to him? Surely.

When we first traded for pick 8 he was one of the players mentioned that we were interested in.

The latest talk has him going a bit later than that to Freo.

Don't think it has anything to do with him being hidden away, he got injured at the nationals and didn't play again after that.

yes we have DD, but we've also spoken to Jackson, Sharp, Henry, Rivers, Taylor, Garcia and Sokol through the year.

Not sure of recent talks but Id safely say Sharp, Taylor and Rivers have not been revisited since we traded pick 22 away

Garcia and Sokol will be Pick 97, PSD candidates

Freo want all of the other 3, so we will continue to engage them because all are a chance at Pick 8

Pick 3 is fascinating because both Freo and GWS want Jackson which I believe is where the talk is coming from.

Before live trading everyone pretty much knew in clubland who was likely to be going where in the top 10 to 12 with a week to go

All changed now with ducks and drakes, so are these talks part of the rouse

We should take a very close look at this guy at 10. You can never have too many A grade mids and this kid has already shown his hand. He's the prototypical modern day ball winning mid with an A+ attitude to boot. WA swoop of Jackson into Robertson is my preference for 3 and 10

I think Freo will take him before we can, but it will be a very good draft for us if we get him,  he is a gun.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
