Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Can’t wait to see what Sparrow can do next year. He looks fit.

Jordon looks like Oliver when he arrived at the mfc. Needs another press on maybe.

Pruess been in the afl system for a while so hopefully he can build his endurance.

Go Dees. Love this time of year!!

I think this time of year is a yawn fest.

Does T Mac look a little more beefed up in the chest/upper body area to anyone else?

The pics might be a little deceiving and we haven’t seen T Mac out there for a while. Looks a tad bigger to me. Wonder how hard he’s been hitting the weights. Initial reaction was maybe they want him stronger and bigger to be more of the ‘gorilla’ type rather than just a straight down the line lead type.

Spring is a time for new life, renewal, optimism and positive feelings..

For footy and the Demons it all starts again.

We can enjoy the training reports, reading of new coaches, new methods, the development of young players and draftees, of players tearing it up, and of worrying off-season injuries. Are players showing endeavour, intensity, and improvement ?

And, of course, we have the gossip and unsubstantiated stories of the lives and behaviour of players and coaches.

In most cases, the cycle of footy life gives us new hopes and expectations, that things will be different in 2020.

At the same time, some things remain the same, like the Leaning Tower of Pisa,  The Universal Truths, and the capriciousness of human behaviour.

In the case of Demonland, we have the training reports and readers rushing to renew their criticisms and biases. The comments from posters that represent all the vagaries of human behaviour surface like the rising sun and moon. We have the dreamers, the doomsayers, the optimists, the logical, the analytical, the rational, the humourous, the silly and the emotional. All have their say.

We all have this irrational and emotional deep seated relationship with a footy club. It takes us to the very highs and the very lows of mood and feeling.

How crazy and sentimental.  But we can maintain our sanity by escaping from the world and its problems and of our own failings and disappointments.

And despite life's disappointments, our footy team gives us our identity and sense of belonging despite everything. Posters may irritate and annoy. You may never want to meet those that annoy most, but there is a bond, a common cause, a common reason why we tap onto this site to comment, like any other addiction. It may wax and wane, but it will never go away until we meet our maker. Even then we may not be able to achieve eternal peace without That Flag.

It's a great time of the year. We haven't lost a game in months, and I can't see us losing one for at least another 4 more

I do get what you mean, they all have personalised programs from the new fitness coach. That's why the demon faithful admire & love Maxy so much,  He hurt the most out of last season, his and Tmac's actions speak the loudest.

The realist and doomsayer in one.

I'm sorry, that was am attempt at humor. Sarcasm font would be handy.

It was a fantastic post that I did enjoy reading and I can appreciate the amount of work you put into it, so thank you.

To be perfectly honest I agree with those that see O Mac's upside. I think he played a fantastic role of a stopping defender 2 seasons ago, and he wasn't alone last season.

I am 6'3" and 140kg that could only manage half a game in the forward pocket of the beer league seconds, where I barely got a touch, I don't have a right to comment on anyone's footballing ability, least of all someone who has dedicated their entire life to playing at the elite level.

Oscar McDonald would fart more football talent than my entire career combined, I hope I'm lucky enough to shout him a beer one day.

Well said Josh regarding your comments about Oscar. Given your height and weight I agree.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
