Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

WTF, Preuss looks like a completely different person.  Looks so thin.

Looks exactly how an ambitious player at a good Club should  look pre season. Well done. I reckon we have a player

Awesome!

Great to see the boys still travelling the world 70 days after rd 23....

It was only a week or two ago that there reports on how Lever and a bunch of others were doing their own training even before the pre-season had started. And I believe some had gone to the USA for specialised training of their own accord.

Now you're criticising them for not coming back before they have to?

Both Preuss and Clayton are the most noticeable ones who look a lot leaner. Other then Petracca they were the other two I thought often looked fatigued at times and for those three losing some weight (not muscle of course) can only help.

Clayton's main knock is his decision making and ball use under pressure and needs to be more damaging with ball in hand. I actually think a lot of it for him is being at his limit aerobic capacity wise hence why he often just takes the first (often short handball) option. Hopefully a fitter Clayton can be more composed around the contest. I feel like the game hasn't quite slowed down for him yet like it has with someone like Brayshaw. Hopefully it does next season, if so it will be scary how good he can be.

Hey I am with you, Im a Preuss fan

I'm hopeful that BIG Braydon comes on this year. The drop in weight that it looks like he has achieved over the Summer should give him much more stamina to run out a quarter, or be able to give Maxy a better chop out than he was able to do last year.........just take a few marks down forward big fella, and you'll really have the opposition worried!

And Marty Hore is almost 6’3” in the old language. If, and it is a big if, Braydon could actually learn to mark over his head he could be a proper weapon

Exactly what he did the whole session, except for the running. They had him as the forward target most drills

I remember going to a preseason training session out at Casey (circa when Jack Viney was training with us prior to being drafted) and they were doing a lot of interval training.

It's basic cardio training, and as often as not done indoors in a gym, e.g. circuit training. I wouldn't presume they haven't been doing it, just not perhaps as part of on-field training sessions.

Joel Smith still in rehab is a big worry.

There was an article on the Melbourne website only a week or so ago, that said Smith was building up his running slowly. Given the difficulties he's had this year, if be surprised if he wasn't in the rehab group

Going for the pics on the MFC website,

- Spargo and Jordon have bulked up significantly.

- Pruess has completey changed his body shape. What an amazing transformation. He's given himself the best opportunity for next year no doubt.

- Well done to Tom McDonald and Max Gawn for coming in when they weren't suppose to and still partake in training but also help the young blokes out. Smells of absolute leadership.

Not sure what Brayshaw you watched but it certainly wasn't 2019 Gus.

Clarry's been in great shape since he copped a flogging heading in to year 2, but having both shoulders done last year meant he was restricted in preseason. He became addicted to the hot potato handball that our coaches love, it worked in 2018 as we flooded the contest but teams got too quick and too good at midfield pressure last year. He needs runners to dish too - Langdon on the outside or someone like Petracca on the inside and he needs to start trusting his legs and running the ball himself. He does it when he gathers the loose balls in general play but at stoppages our lack of speed, structure and smarts makes it hard to take the game on. Plus having a tagger tackling him before he's got it doesn't help.

The best part of the vision above was Jordon and Baker working a bit of weaving handball, drawing a man and releasing forward. Basic stuff but it was entirely missing from our game last season.

I think there was mention of him being in the rehab group for starters. Just going to work his way into it.

Why is Maxy back so early? I guess the only person I'm interested in seeing how they rock up to pre season is May.

For what it’s worth, I’ve seen on someone’s Instagram that he’s been training with Harmes and Gawn in the off season, so fingers crossed he comes back in ripping shape. If he doesn’t, they’ll rip him a new one.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
