Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I bloody hope not. I mark it down as the most miserable game of the year every year. The only thing we get out of it is wind-burn.

Sorry, disagree, have been down there for 3 of those games now, fly down Friday come back Monday. Take one of the ferries across from Hobart/ Wrest Point. Red and Blue everywhere. Went to Salamanca Market before the game this year, Dees supporters everywhere, awash with Red Wine, Beer and Seafood. One day, a win will just be icing on the cake. I can tell you where to have the best breakfast afterwards as well.

Also seems to have a record of tight contests there (that we mostly come out the loser sadly), but I went down there with mates a few years ago and we had a really good time. Nice town, the ground atmosphere wise it pretty dead but it's still kinda cool getting back to a local footy style feel.

I will mention one strange thing at the ground though, you can only buy Light /Mid strength beer. Why strange? You can buy Red and White wine and mixers that are all higher alcohol content than full strength beer. Not that it would worry we superior Melbourne types

The Geelong away game is ridiculous. There's no commercial justification for it either. We'd get more at the G against them than they would down at the Cattery.

I'm all for the game being a commercial beast, but this particular fixturing is neither fair or commercially just.

Threaten to forfeit ? Or run a Casey team

We can just complain to ombudsman that it’s not safe to play with the building cladding they have!!!

That's not as stupid as it sounds. The new grandstands could be on that secret govt. Cladding list.

Can Demonland please commence preparing an FOI submission along these lines.?

Try living in the town.......

I hate that they make finals due to a soft fixture then flunk it in September most years.

I know asking for equality is just too much to ask for

Same here. I live there and refuse to attend kardinia park. Its a deadset elitist club where you need a bank loan to reserve a decent seat. Vast majority of townsfolk can't afford to attend and the grounds development has sucked much needed grant capital funds from more important building upgrades.

Its got me stuffed why the locals follow. Having daid that there's been huge influx of new residents. And most are bemused by the parochialism of older  locals.

They say its a community facilitu also but try booking the facilities.

Oh don’t get me wrong, Tassie is beautiful for a holiday. The annual footy match there against North however, is a miserable affair!

This is where the smart coach thinks about week 2.

Preuss to play so Gawn is not exhausted etc etc

a 0-2 start would see our season under the pump.

Couldn't agree more DJ

A feature I would like to see this year is use of the complete list. Pick teams on form, match up and peak and taper needs.

Nurse players if needed to maintain a consistent performance individually and for team.

Each position should have a set of players allocated as replacement and should be rewarded with selection if form warrants.

My personal point of view the two Perth games are good as we get to see the Dee's live twice in a year.  Though not the best to travel west twice.

First round will be busy as the ladies are playing at 1pm (Perth time) in Freo and then the men at 6.20pm.  I think that explains the very late game time for a Sunday afternoon.  Double demon delight that day.

This fixture is a shocker.  SO  many media "analysts" are saying it's a good draw because we play side who were weak this year twice.  So what?  They start out by exhausting our side with a trip to Perth to play in the hottest part of the day, then a six day break and back to play the runner's up from last season meaning we are pretty well guaranteed to start off 0-2 and bottom of the ladder.  The majority of our home games are against interstate sides meaning our crowds will be small and revenue low.  This is compounded by putting us in the Sunday afternoon slot more than any other team.  They will then use our low crowd numbers to justify not giving us any decent slots the year after as well.  It's possible that we'll recover from the first two rounds and do ok on the ladder, but we'll be relying on two matches to make up the financial loss we take on the rest and break even for the year.

Seriously this approach while a "good idea at he time" is so flawed.

You would think we were the Tigers  with depth on every line! We saw in 2019 how we coped with injury to half the list and now want to voluntarily rotate young prospects that are clearly not AFL ready early in the season.

Yes maybe rest Gawny in a pocket more but please don't fly the white flag each week before the game has begun.

Why is it close to sellouts each home game then D 17 ?

Sorry jealousy is a curse If I was a Cats fan I would be in heaven with 9 home games etc.

Guarantees them into the 8 each year also!

well  we played them at home  late one season in 2006 I think in front of a crowd of 75,000 at the MCG which we duly won. That was a ripping game. One of the best I've seen, behind only the Hawks / dees merger game.

Think that Cats game was the Olympic Torch preview game in 2000.

Gee no good games since 2000?

QB vs Pies with Jack W sprinting the winning  goal was a beauty !

It's a favourable fixture for us. Decent from both a game fixture and financial position.

Unless we absolute [censored] the bed again, we should win 12+ games, which means finals are realistic. It's up to the coaches now to create a different gameplan and not stubbornly stick to something outdated that is not working.

Sorry M'Lord I am glad you are not my bean counter!

Making money out of Freo Suns Port Even zGiants is not happening then 35,000 plus is necessary for Saints Bullies, 40,/50,000 for Swans if they are back in town and the Blockbusters vs Pies Tigers and Blues need 60,000 to 80,000 for a large  haul of funds.

This is  assuming we are in the mix for Finals, And no bad weather days!

Thats  an average of about 40,000 each game over 10 games.

Nowhere near enough I would think even with this half glass full appraisal.

I am bullish about our turnaround but we have been delivered a right royal kick in the behind with this  home  draw and Money losing Mums Day vs Port to mop up!!

I'm certainly not flying any white flag. Totally the reverse. Pick a side that will win, based on form and match up.

We did see how we coped with injury and some players did step up when exposed to the higher standards but could not sustain it, others were not able to step up as not exposed to faster pace or bigger bodied opponents and higher intensity.

Intensity is a real key and I think we should have the depth of the Tigers and develop that through training the whole squad with an understanding of the competition for positions.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
