Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Lockhart small forward solution?

I am a bit surprised that in the trade wash-up there is much talk about our lack of small forwards and no talk of Lockhart as a possible answer.

He has dash and in his first year found the goal consistently if not spectacularly with 9 goals in 12 games in a team with a non-functioning forward line. He could not have had a more demanding debut year than 2019 with us yet showed promise. He's early 20s so close to mature and will only improve with a serious pre-season.

100% with you on this, also good overhead as well. I think he should be a legitimate option. Will be better with another pre season under his belt, and like all small fwds are better when we have function talls.. thats the issue i think.

If we draft him and he gets through the pre-season unscathed, then I'd say Cody Weightman would be a fair chance at landing a spot in our side for Round 1.

I hope we aren't thinking IF Wise.

Lockhart is a likely prospect and hopefully takes another step up this season.  Him and Chandler (super green and a BIG IF) seem like the two smalls off our list that 'might' make it.

Other then being a bit of a draft bolter due to late season form and good combine results I don't know much about him. Looks to have a more mature body then most guys his age. Have you seen much of him WB? Good speed and skills?

Thought he showed a fair bit considering he came to the club at the last minute without a proper preseason. He just inevitably ran out of steam in the latter part of the year. He's the one if we don't pick up anyone else.

I'm a big fan but I don't think he has the x factor to be the number 1 small forward, I prefer him as the number 2 small forward rotating up through the midfield or even getting a go at half back after a preseason.

We need 1 more x factor forward but we can get bye pretty well if the whole forward line takes a big step forward with a functional structure, much cleaner entries and defensive pressure for all of the forwards.

A combination of Betts, Rioli and Charlie Cameron all in 1 would've struggled last year.

Very happy to find a like-mind with this one! His debut kick/goal (vs Geelong) was one of those rare moments of promise this year. He also showed some excellent forward skills in the Freo & Essendon matches. Has had to show a lot of grit to get to where he has so far. Not a silver-spooner, and despite what he’s delivered so far, is still yet to have a full pre-season with the club.

He gets overlooked a strange amount. Buckenara didn’t even bother putting him on his list, and none of the other Demonlanders noticed!

I’m hoping he could become a good lock in forward. He has a bit of pace so if he can build his tank and stick his tackles, him and Hunt could make some defenders very nervous next year.

Too many forwards where injured this season, Mitch Hannan played 15 games kicked 22 in 2018, come 2019 6 games 4 goals, even ANB kicked 27 goals in 2018. Hopefully TMac takes his marks next season, the amount of easy marks he dropped in 2019 was extraordinary, I reckon he dropped at least 1 to 2 easy marks a game, and as soon as he started taking them he kicked 10 goals in 2 games and 3 qtrs, he returned to form only to go down, has to start next year in that form or 2020 will be no good.

Didn't have the tank to play too many games last year, but showed a bit when he got a go. Knows where the goals are, is tough and puts pressure on.

Another preseason and hopefully he plays 15+ games for 20+ goals.

Lockhart was very good considering he was recuited on the eve of the season's start and no pre-season with the MFC

Given the disaster that 2019 turned out to be, perhaps that could be a bonus?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
