Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Young and Weightman for me.

Young adds a bit of leg speed and elite disposal.

Weightman adds leg speed and x-factor.

Agree. If we trade pick 3 then Stephens and Weightman.

3. Young

8. Ash/Stephens/Flanders/Weightman

Hope we don't take Serong and Weightman both sub 180cm.

Download the NAB league app and you can watch player highlights game by game. Just watched Weightmans, wasn't overly impressed and think he'll need a good year or two development.

I would expect us to have a very close look at kemp with 3, Him Rowell and Anderson are a clear top 3 in terms of talent in my opinion and I think we’d back ourselves in to get his knee right.

We’re eyeing weightman with 8 by all reports which may be a slight reach but he certainly fills a very big need for us as we have very few small forward options.

Taking Kemp who can’t play next year will defeat the purpose of buying into this draft. We could’ve just kept our 2020 first rounder for the 2020 version of Kemp.

Just hope we don’t go near Lachlan Ash with a stick. His highlights look like Jayden Hunt mark 2. Grab ball, sprint into trouble and boot it into no mans land.

You've said this a million times now, we get it, you don't like Ash.

Interesting to see the details from Draft Combine. Some names that kept coming up under all different catergorys are Finn Maginnes, Cooper Stephens, Sam Flanders and Ben Johnson. We drafted two elite endurance runners in the trade period do we look for more in the draft?

I'm thinking it's Serong and Weightman in the draft. I like the look of Young and Flanders.

I don’t agree with that at all, Should St Kilda have passed on max king last year Due to his acl injury ? Who is the 2019 version of max king ? There isn’t one..

Next years draft is heavily compromised with academy picks which is one reason we traded into this years draft instead and the second reason in my opinion is because we’re backing ourselves to bounce back next year and that our first pick would have been late first round.

If we rate Kemp as the clear 3rd best player we should take him,  A year on the sidelines learning in a professional AFL environment would set him up nicely for 2021.
There’s only a handful of draftees each year who have a decent impact in their debut season anyhow.

I reckon you take best available. That seems to be Taylor's philosophy too. Let's not go back to BP-like recruiting.

Don’t think Spargo was best available when he was drafted. We will likely continue to draft contested inside midfield beasts until we have 44 of them.

Flanders played against the two top picks and got 27 possessions and 4 goals. I had a look at his highlight package and he looks the goods to me.

Young as our second pick, I’d be happy with that.

Flanders (whose highlights i confused with Young in another thread...apologies) appears to be a ball bombing mid if the highlights are anything to go by.  We want another?

I have no clue about draftees.

But I really like the insight of a handful of posters who know their juniors and have actually seen them play live.

I fully get the argument you make it simple and select the best available. But that is by definition a subjective decision.

What we need though is two elite kicks and at least one player with good outside endurance and run and a quality small forward with natural goal kicking instincts.

Agree.  I saw Weightman play three times and wasn’t overly impressed.  Is a smart player and skilled.  Not top 10.  Probably worth a 20-25 pick to be honest.

1&2 Suns. Rowell and Anderson. I agree with many that if we keep pick ... then Nominate Tom Green. Giants to match.  Uses their pick 6 up.  3-GWS Tom Green

use pick 4 on Hayden Young.  A very impressive skilled footballer

5- Crows:Brodie Kemp   6- Sydney: Caleb Serong 7- Freo:Sam Flanders

MFC use pick 8 on Dylan Stephens, or Lachlan Ash. Pace into the midfield.  I’m leaning towards Stephens.

pick “96” may go to a ruck or tall forward option.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
