Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The AFL should never have given the medal to Cotchin and Mitchell in the first place precisely because of the possibility that one day new evidence might have cleared Watson. Note that I am not saying the story today has necssarily done that, but it's a problem entirely avoidable if the AFL had decided when it stripped Watson of the medal to leave the Brownlow unawarded for that year.

1. Essendon have no paperwork so can’t prove anything.

2. Doesn’t change the 40+ times players lied when being tested about having injections.

dirty lying cheats.

That reporter on the ABC Radio National is at it again trying to excuse Essendon. According to him this morning, the ASADA response to the HS article was just a blanket denial of wrongdoing and did not address the points raised.  A blatant lie.  Then he adds some irrelevant scuttlebutt to pour scorn on the whole issue.  The ABC should sack him.

I haven't been sucked in at all. Read my OP.

I am saying this is a way for the AFL to give Jobe back his Brownlow without losing face.

I am not going through the whole saga again.

I think you have mate. Buried deep in most of the articles is the actual facts around this and how it doesn't actually make any difference.

The ban still stands.

The Brownlow result sill stands.

Nothing has changed.

It is the record, not the little medallion that is important.

Anyone can find a lost medal in the street, it doesn't mean they were awarded it.

I'd suggest down the track the little medallion will still be worth a pretty penny if sold.

Please don’t misunderstand what I am saying. I am not saying they are innocent I am saying this might lead to Jobe getting his win back.

i'm scratching my head trying to understand what the new evidence is

they seem to be just resurrecting the same old arguments that have previously been rebuffed and extensively argued

nothing to see here except that the essendrug apologists will never cease (specially the essendon cheerleaders in the media )

There is no way in the world the AFL will open this up again. They want it glossed over, hidden away, kept out of sight and never mentioned, like an inbred royal, if for no other reason than to avoid re-scrutiny of their own role in it.

Suspect you are right.

Remind me was the Brownlow considered part of the "medals" etc that the WADA rules required be stripped from a guilty player or was it just an internal recognition award.

Always has amazed me that Vlad and the AFL did not demand full paperwork and reciept Records from Essendrug, as they ultimately control the License to be in the Competition.
Produce the Records or STFU Essendrug

You got off lightly, take one look at Thompson to get an idea...

What makes you think Watson gave the medal back....last time I heard he "couldn't locate it".

Maybe Jab gave it to Dank 'for services rendered'?

Why would anyone sympathetic to Essendon ever bring that whole saga back up again. The only way Essendon will ever fully recover from the whole doping fiasco is to accept that it happened, they paid for it, and they'll never do it or think about it ever again.

Sometimes dead is better.

This has all come up because they want Daniher to feel sorry for "em, and come back into the fold.....

and he probably doesn't want to play with Stringer anyway...........

Didn't they also 'misplace' a bunch of the records of who was jabbed with what?

This is the bit that always puzzles me, out of the whole rotten saga.

It’s inconceivable electronic records were not kept. There are forensic IT teams that can retrieve deleted data.

I’ve never read a good explanation of how the records are missing and not retrievable.

Were they only recorded on Danks personal laptop with no backup and that has gone missing?

Data just doesn’t go missing if there is a will to find it.

How much did they want the data and to what end?

My gut feeling is the outcome was considered fair to all parties, best move on rather than have real evidence of what happened with unknown future ramifications. The irony is that Essendon cannot claim deniability if some future heath horror arises as they have "lost" the evidence that they may depend on.

I would bet my last dollar that accurate records of the entire drug program are safely stored away most likely by (rhymes with tank) as a leverage tool. If he should pass away I imagine a few copies may emerge.

Most likely. Any copies are shredded & in land fill, and any other laptops are at the bottom of the Yarra.

The dark dim dank character almost certainly kept detailed records of his programme. His whole idea was to use EFC as a guinea pig to develop a "sports science" scheme he could sell shrink wrapped and in bulk to sporting clubs all over the world. There is no way he was not keeping track of dosages, timings, effects, etc.

Warwick Hadfield is a Hirdashian. Also the scientist with the new claims, Bob O'Dea is a Bombers member so has no independence at all. Just the same people looking for new ways to clear Saint James.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
