Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The fact that we are holding a pick not much further down the line from pick 3 increases the logic of nominating Tom Green. If GWS want to be assured of getting two first round players, they have to have control of pick 3 so it makes sense for them to offer us 6 ++ and maybe another + to achieve that outcome.

I agree that GWS will want #3 and we should leverage that. But I don’t see that #8 makes that much difference.

I like the idea of taking Greene if available anyway. It doesn’t fit our need but I see the best draft strategy being to minimise errors and so I like us taking big midfielders.

I'm not sure really How I feel about this in terms it if being a wise move. Time will obviously tell.

But I decided yes because I love that it is a bold move that ensures  if nothing else tbat we will be the only thing discussed all day tommorow on trade radio.

Also I find it amusing to think of the critics of the dees not being able to work out how to criticise the move.

i'd just like to remind everyone that although we have traded away our picks for next year... we will also be most probably trading out players that no longer fit into our structure moving forward (whether that be a petracca, brayshaw, hunt, salem, etc..). we will find picks next year, don't worry.

Yeah we'd need to get something else back: the value isn't there in what is written.

But also, apparently next year's draft is super compromised. 17 of the 48 players selected for the under 17 all stars side (arguably the best players for best year's draft) are academy or father son players, plus GC priority picks.  So perhaps our first pick might not be until the 20s?

Correct.  Smart move by the club.

Why the [censored] couldnt we just trade 2020 1st for pick 8...

Why would North do that in a compromised draft and when we could easily finish in the top 8?

We had to sweeten the deal which is where our second round pick came in (our third round pick is inconsequential to me as we wouldn’t have had enough room on our list to use it come draft day with 3,8 and a second round pick).

This literally looks like the worst trade of picks I have ever seen. We gain pick 8 and hope we beat pick 8 next year by jumping up 7 places (i.e become 10th) just to draw even, THEN throw in a second rounder ? then a third rounder?

Absolutely ridiculous trading. please tell me this is not true,  3 picks for 1. There has to be a v good 2nd rounder pick coming back

It looks absolutely insane. I thought the AFL could block trades that were so lopsided with points value. If we win the flag north is still 400+ pts ahead. Completely [censored].

Fair enough, just thought a pick that can acquire an Ed Langdon quality player is a little bit too sweet to throw into a deal.

I'd say three will end up with GWS for six and, at the very least, a second round pick which would then allow us to select the minimum of three players at this year's draft

I'm kind if hoping it doesn't. As good as pick 6 is, it means 3 top players (plus Green) are unavailable. It makes GWS stronger and potentially means we miss who we really want with 3.

If we win the flag, nobody here will give an obese rodent's fundament how many points ahead North might be.

with father and son and all other picks taken and we win the flag our first pick could very well be 28-30

and we would have had a player on our list for a year already

It does show how ridiculous this trade is. Even if north fail to choose anyone good and we do it’s still will not make sense to me. This first ronuder cost us a first and second rounder, which buys you an A grader. Just stupid.

We (in the bleaches) don't know who JT really wants though GL.  Our first pick preference might be Stephens?

Pick 6 (i hope) will still get that part done and a 2nd rounder gives us our 3rd pick in the PSD (assuming it's a must have coming in to it).

Goodwin going all in on his job. 2020 picks are useless to him  if he can’t get some wins on the board in 2017.

I'm far from a fan of the trade but back in the real world if we play finals next year and hand over a pick outside the top 10 then it's about even.

The fatal flaw with the points system is that you can't add points from completely different rounds of the draft together. They are practically a different currency.

A top 10 pick is a fully built house. A 2nd round pick is a block of land. A 3rd round pick is a stack of timber.

Don't know that any coach is good enough to conjure up wins from two years ago.  Your trolling is slipping, oilslick.

I think it’s pick 3 and Dees 2nd round 2020 pick (Hawks 2020 2nd round pick)  for

pick 6 and Giants 1st round 2020 pick

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
