Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jon Ralph says Demons are effectively a basket-case team

I actually feel its a large reason Daniher failed.
We needed a CHB real bad and Daniher could never find one when Troy passed.

yeah, why a thread for this? we are a basket case. Isn't that obvious?

And why does whispering jack think a journalists comments would provide players with motivation. Seriously?  ffs. So pre-season comes around and they're doing repeat 400's and the players are pushing themselves thinking 'jon ralph thinks we're a basket case'. come on, please. The players should already know that we are what we are and at this moment its the 17th best team in the comp.

Surely the only issue here is the conclusion that all is sweet in the AFL free agency because a couple of the poorer players from GF clubs transferred to badly performing clubs.  When Lynch transfers to the Suns, I'll believe it.  Oh wait...

We have seen basket case teams and this MFC team is not one.

Gawn and Oliver are as good as any player.
Next level NEEDS to step up.

our next 10 can all improve and get fit and on the park

May. Trac. Brayshaw. Harmes.  Viney. Lever. Melksham.  Tmcd.  Salem. Hibberd.

Jetta will be back and makes a difference.

Langdon and Tomlinson already will make us better

Weidemans development is crucial.  If he FINALLY fulfills his promise and lifts his hunger and intensity, we will look very dangerous again.

Vandenberg KK Jsmith are all needing to overcome injury issues and will be huge bonus if fit.

Hore has the making of a very solid midsize defender. His marking reminds me of a Harry Taylor type

Fritsch showed again that he is a very skilled and dangerous forward. Definitely a best 18 player now.

Can Hunt and Hannan develop any more.  Both very good and important as goalkickers.

Baker cwagner Spargo need to show more in 2020 to stay on the list

we can see potential already in Petty, Sparrow, Lockhart, Jordan and Chandler. Bedford and Bradtke are still raw but likely

list cloggers like Jkh, JWagner, Omcd need to go

It’s plenty of sunshine ahead with the right coaching, intensity, game strategy and importantly fit and healthy playing list.

Always infuriated me.
Never intrigued me.

Reckon the side were just lazy.
Couldn't sustain the output required for long enough.

To challenge my memory further. Did he spend time on Hird in that game PSD?

Scott Lucas from memory, but Hird did float forward so may have.

Matty Whelan knocked Hird out with a perfectly timed bump in that game.

Turned the game at that very moment.
And this was in the 2004 Elim.

You dunno whether you're coming or going.
Here's your quote from the Buckenara thread.
Make up your mind.

"Hey SK,
Most of us here thin we are going to rebound into finals in 2020.  Most, apart from Lyon, think this fall is an aberration.  Most, think that the club know where we are at."

If you think I think we are going to rebound, you are delusional.

The irony is that in fact we are far from a basket case. Our board is as stable and solid as it has been in decades. An internal review has seen significant change carried out in a professional, measured fashion, tge exec is solid as is  fd. No players wanted out. And one again mahoney has been a total pro at trade time and achieved most of its stated aims wirh a minimum of fuss.

You want a basket case look at the crows atm. Despite their wealth and resources they are a mess, with players wanting out, coach quitting before being pushed and key personnel being sacked during the trade period when they are trying to retain and attract players.

On a related  note where do the posters who so vociferously pushed the mfc in crisis line a couple of months back stand atm?.

You know the ones who warned of player dissatisfaction, players wanting out, (gleefully) supported false rumours about goody being sacked, jumped on Barrera silly comments about sliding doors and meetings wirh tge afl, pointed out the coaching and fd changes as evidence of crisis (whilst also arguing changes had to be made) and warned no players would want to come to us.

Exactly. This is the best post I have read for some time

I never said us ..... You did.
And unless they miraculously learn to kick, handball and mark during the off season we won't be rebounding far.

Doubt it will motivate. Different group of course but I well remember the first game after the tragic Troy Broadbridge death who I thought would end up a future Captain.Sadly we put up little effort in that game. And so the band plays on. The power Clubs dominate and we remain homeless, win less and unable to attract the best talent on and off the field.

Whaaaaat?

What game was that?

I remember the Troy Broadbridge Memorial Game as a triumph over Essendon and I have checked the stats and memory serves me right: 15.13 103 to 8.9 57: Melbourne by almost eight goals.

You're a serial whinger SK and I am glad to have caught you out. Now I'll read the rest of the thread to see who else did not buy in.

Positive proof this site is infiltrated by MFC employees and close associates. Gotta love the stable Board comment. That is a stable board that has overseen two decades of failure.

When you get around to reading the thread you will see I have made an unreserved apology so pull your head in pitdog. We all make mistakes. Have you never had a discussion with someone when their memory of something was wrong never had a pub discussion. bet you dont have the guts to talk like that in person.

You might be right bin, but what are you celebrating? The fact that those things haven't happened? We've done solidly this trade period but still lost Frost, player dissatisfaction was very real, ranging from issues with injury management, to game day strategy and coaching. Goodwin was also never really close to being sacked but the club has done it's due diligence and has been testing the wares for possible replacements and has been for about 12-14 weeks.

It is a given that what's happened will happen, getting in free agents means [censored] all if you finish 17th. As does coaching changes. Erratic change in business management either goes extremely well or REALLY bad so there is no in between. Goodwin will either be guiding us to a strong finals showing, or his AFL coaching career is over. That is all that matters at this point.

Celebrating coaching changes at this point is depressing af because if we'd had a half decent season we wouldn't have needed to gut the fish.

There is a reason why these changes have happened. And it's not because of the "All is well, all is good" brigade. They've happened as a symptom of all of the predictions and rumours you mentioned. They are a direct result of it.

Hee Hee. Pitdog I like it.

Yes, I have read the thread and offer my gratitude to Bushie and the Pennant for pulling you up (a little more politely than me).

Yeah, I'd pull you up on that in person too, no real guts required. The "whaaaat?" I opened with was a genuine reaction because I remember going to that game fearful that, like so many milestone games, we'd stuff it up, fail to honour his memory. I walked away very proud of the way our boys stood up. (Only after writing the first half of my post did I visit the records to check the detail.)

My further comment goes to the fact that, to put it politely SK, you are a glass half empty kind of bloke. That's putting it kindly. If I wasn't being polite I'd say you are a fountain of negativity. Think about the mistake you made, or that your memory made. Maybe that glass half empty thing is invading memory too. Try to be open to some positivity because if footy does not give us hope it gives us nothing.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him.
