Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Are we done now?

Give sam Murray a go. Nothing to lose.

Also would like to see what small forward we could get but based on JM trade radio we aren’t looking at one cause the forward line was good in 2018 and they HOPE it will work again in 2020. That’s scary.

would you trade for Murray (pick 96 or whatever exchanged for pick 102) or wait for the PSD? Cannot see the difference but perhaps there is some reason.

Agree on the small forward but I suspect his comment was reflective of there being no one available. Sounds a little silly though given we were after Elliot. Ah.. the world of spin.

There is still plenty of time left to get involved in a few deals.  There is also plenty of time left for something to crop up out of left field - teams scrambling to fit under the salary cap or looking to improve their hand at the draft.  We can sit and wait for a good deal to arise... or go to the draft with what we have.  It's a win/win.

5 spots available:  4 Out: Garlett, Maynard, Lewis, Frost plus 1 unused list spot from 2019.

2 spots taken:  Tomlinson, Langdon.

3 spots available for draftees or more recruits.

Stretch and JKH OOC and still unsigned so potential for more list spots.

Will shortly update the Contracts thread pinned to front page of this forum.

If anyone has the length of Langdon's contract please let me know.

5 years for Langdon

I heard that while i was riding my bike almost fell off when talking about the forward line.

Going by JM we are done, unless they are contemplating still splitting pick 3.

I would definitely trade for Murray but he has been delisted so I don’t think there is any need to trade.

Spin along with lies is the biggest thing during trade.

You would hope we are still looking for a small forward but we r Melbourne so most likely not.

What about rookie spots? Aren't they all included in the same list now? (Can't remember what the exact changes were)

Smith and Walker gone as far as rookies go.

understand but if you do a no lose trade then you keep your options open for the other delists whom we don't know about.

Is he actually "delisted" as at today? I assume he has just been informed that no contract will be offered as formally his contract runs for a few weeks yet.

I like the way we have performed in this trade period. The recruiters have obviously done their ground work on both Tomlinson and Langdon over the past 12/18 months and they got the trades done with a minimum of fuss. I think these two have improved our list despite the loss of Frost.

No idea if we will move on any other players this trade period but I could see that once the dust has settled and the draft starts, if we still have pick 3, we might trade that at the beginning of the draft if there is a deal to do with a club that has a couple of later first round picks.

Smith and Kielty delisted, Walker (cat B) retired.

Rookie A list: Lockhart, Dunkley, C Wagner, Chandler
Rookie B: Bradtke

So if Stretch and JKH go we've then got 5 spots and can use them in any combination of 3 main, 2 rookies or 4/1 or 5/0.

My guess is we'd take 4 draft picks and then have someone prelisted (Murray) similar to Corey Wagner or train on for the last rookie spot.

I'd imagine we look for another Cat B player as well depending on club finances and who's available. I like the idea of adding an Irishman.

Richmond are giving away Dan Butler for a late pick. Carton & Saints in the running. Carlton have now pulled out because of the Papley trade. With Garlett delisted why not go for Butler until we have other small forward options available.

My understanding is If we take the minimum 3 from the draft we have no senior list spots available. Therefore if we want to get anyone else in or take an extra draftee, we will have to trade or de-list either Stretch or JKH who are currently out of contract.

I honestly thought we’d already delisted JKH, the club could seriously not see anything in him beyond the season just gone.

I wonder if we threw Stretch and pick three at GC for a player and a later first round pick, who would we be able to get?  I know there were rumours around Stretch going there.  A drop from third to fifteenth should warrant a pretty good player.  Maybe convince Martin that his future is with us?

Happy to offer Murray a rookie spot. See if he really want to work hard and earn his career back.

Weve already had a great trade period. Tomlinson and Langdon fir frost and late picks. Addressed our needs.

And we have pick 3 to hopefully get a gun

Hoping for one more snag, maybe Yokozuna’s mail comes to fruition about an exciting forward prospect.

Interestingly, a few player managers were interviewed on radio leading up to trade week and they predicted this trade period could see a record number of players switching clubs. Unless they extend it until March can’t see this happening so far.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
