Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Trenners won the B&F in the SANFL this year, we have had some pretty ordinary results picking players from that comp.

Trenners first few years were brilliant. His issue wasn’t talent, it was development and injury.

We still need to get better at development. Guys like Petracca and Weid have loads of talent, but could be much more than they are if they were developed better.

I agree with Trenners, but it says something if he can win the B&F but not be good enough to play in the main team.

I was talking to my son the other day about Tracc and DeGoey and raised the question, how good would Tracc be if he played with Collingwood and how would DeGoey be if he was selected by Melbourne. Which one would be the star?

They’d be the opposite to what they are now. Trac would be a star and DeGoey would’ve showed patches.

We’ve got a proven track record of being poor at developing players. That, along with poor onfield leadership, have been our key issues for over a decade. Worst part is they don’t look to be resolved anytime soon either. We can have all the top draft picks in the world, but if we can’t develop then and surround them with leaders then it’s a waste.

the team around you makes all the difference, deGoohy has team mates that can deliver the ball to him. Trac has to go out and fetch it.

Adelaide or Sydney might also bid for Green, which means GWS would still have to use their pick 6 for him, thus increasing the value of 8

Sydney will nominate Green, no question about it

I think Adelaide will take Stephens and Freo will take Jackson

Not sure who Sydney will take possibly Kemp as a big bodied mid to replace Kennedy

I'd take Young at 3 and Kemp if available at 8.

By bidding for Green we will ensure one Kemp, Ash, Serong or Flanders available at pick 8

It only makes sense to bid then 'Pennant', no point helping out GWS if it's going to narrow our prospects unless there are any side deals done...

Green will be a Giant next year regardless of when the bid comes. He, Rowell and Anderson are the clear top 3 players in the draft.

At what stage do the Giants think about winning a flag rather than assembling the best list of future talent.

Ward, Coniglio, Kelly, Hopper, Taranto, Whitfield, Greene, Z Williams, De Boer plus Caldwell, Hately and others in reserve, it's a ridiculous collection of midfield talent. A lot of those guys are flexible but I'd argue if 3 of the less flexible inside mids in Ward, Hopper, De Boer and Coniglio are in the team then Green won't be for the first 2 years of his career.

Meanwhile Mumford is done and being replaced by Jacobs who was done at the Crows and Heath Shaw remains best 22 as a backline distributor despite losing all pace. With Luke Jackson and Hayden Young sitting right there to fix holes it has to be mighty tempting.

Especially with the way Richmond play with so much pressure and run it makes assembling a dominant clearance team not all that effective.

I'm concerned Green would be wasted at Melbourne and we don't have nearly the midfield depth of the Giants.

If we bid on Green and GWS don't match then this would be a huge coup for us. Green is rated on level with Rowell and Anderson. The comparisons to Cripps is real.

Drums are beating that it's looking more likely we will bid on Green and GWS really considering whether to match or not.

happy for us to bid on Green, if GWS want him then they need to paid up, or possibly give us a trade that we cannot resist.

Agree have to bid on him if he’s a good as everyone is saying. No matter how many inside mids we have if he ended up a Cripps level dominant force you’d happily have him.

Agreed. We paid the price for thinking another way ignoring Wines because we had Viney.

At this point I’d be happy with Green, Young, Jackson  or Roberton at 3. So it’s seems hard to go too far wrong. I’m sure we’ll end up regretting we didn’t get this one or that one but as long as who we do get is a really good player we’ll be ok.

Id still like to get two picks in the top 20 for 8 and grab Pickett.

The hills in the northern rivers are shrouded in smoke but still the drums beat and the chillums glow... we should bid green at three because he’s next best... a powerhouse mid... I don’t think gws will match but will take Jackson.. they need to build a team not just collect endless high pick mids..young, Stephens, Serong not the upside... Kemp maybe ... if we get green then we swap 8 in order to get Worrell and Pickett at 14-17 or 15-21.... meanwhile back at the turntable I have Miles Davis and John lee hooker trading licks in a denis hopper soundtrack...

I hope thats some legitimate mail you got there, DD.

I don't have mail, but reading recent writes ups and articles seem to point thay we are having serious consideration for Green at 3. I believe Giants are looking for a needs base with Jackson and Young firmly in their sights.

If we wanted Green, as apparently GWS also do,  why wouldn't GWS match?

You would think he is better than any player they will get with 6?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
