Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is Petrucelle an out side mid?

Came through as a basketballer/athlete who was a bit of a 'see ball, get ball' type.  Could win the ball in the contest and do spectacular things, but needed to learn how to run in midfield, so probably would need to learn how to play as an outside mid. Has the speed to play the role, not sure on endurance at this stage.

WC used his pace well up forward, and may be reluctant to trade him with the Rioli suspension.

Liam Duggan may be an interesting one as part of a package for pick 3.

Ok thanks for that.

Don't know a whole lot about WC players, apart from Gaff.

Would consider trading 3 for Cerra, Langdon and 26.

22 and 26 to GWS for pick 12

Far fetched but I would do it

Apart from an excellent first name, what does Cerra, with an additional injury-riddled history, provide our list that fills a great need and diversifies our list?

I'm sold on the GWS trade though.

Andrew Brayshaw was pick 2 and now has 50 odd games under his belt.

Out of interest why do people say he wouldn't be worth pick 3?

Thanks

Because we don’t need another inside tackling machine midfielder

You might find a family member might tell Freo Brayshaw he'll be the only Brayshaw on the list after 2020.

Actually makes no sense at all, like i dont understand it?

Cerra is a very good decision maker and ball user. I think he will be a really good outside mid next season

I know you've liked him from his draft year. Has he transitioned to the top level how you expected?

I see he wants to play more midfield minutes next year...

Yes he's tracked as I expect not far away IMO, another pre season and he'll be a regular mid rotating of either HFF or HBF, his ball use and decision making sees him with ability to move to HBF and be important for transition

Didn't make it to us? We chose Spargo, Fritsch & Petty before him. He made it to us, we chose not to pick him. Furthermore, we took Baker at 48, so it gives some clue into the mindset of our club 2 years ago, that we valued outside speed as a 4th priority with only a late pick.

Edit: It might work out great though if the opportune pick of Petty at 38 becomes a mainstay and we address speed deficiencies elsewhere.

Apologies got that one well wrong . Though the Eagles took him low 20s tgat year

Scott Brother 1 is on record saying he can't see the trade happen ans that he'd expect 4 round one picks and a player to trade out Tim Kelly. Seems reasonable.

He’s an absolute clown , also said Richmond were worse than last year ?

Rumour starting to grow legs that Gaff could very well be traded this year. Not sure with whom or for what, just heard it's a genuine possibility.

This has been going around for a couple of weeks.  If there is any substance to this surely Geelong would want him as part of the Kelly deal, would still cost West Coast a pick as well say pick 24 and a swap of first round picks.

I have no idea and have zero inside info. But I have this funny feeling our pick 3 is a big factor in terms of other clubs wanting/needing it. West coast need something to land Kelly.

Would 3 and maybe a pick coming back get gaff? No need then to include Brayshaw in the mix.

I'm sorry, but Gaff just does not excite me. He doesn't take a lot of marks and he doesn't lay many tackles either.

And if we land Langdon, the need for him goes down even further.

Would 100% make sense for this to possibly relate to Geelong and/or our pick 3. Haven't heard anything about that though, just that it's a real possibility to happen.

It's sounding like Carlton are the club to get involved to help the Kelly deal to West coast. Carlton has pick 9 which you wouldn't think would work as a straight swap for Gaff but maybe with a bunch of other players/picks involved who knows. I'd imagine it might help Carlton get Papley to them as well....

Regardless it's sounding like it could maybe even end up a similar situation to the three to four team trade last year involving Melb/Freo/GC/Bris where Hogan, May, Neale and pick 3 were used to get players to clubs.

For the sake of team balance though, do you invest a top end pick in a guy that is very similar to what you've already got? i wouldn't be doing it unless we were considering trading out one of Angus or Viney.

I'd rather just take pick 3 to the draft and pick up Lachie Ash.

This seems like the lessor of the two evils for mine PO.  However, plenty of talent coming up.  A few alternatives to Ash  (not limited to these obviously)...

- Dylan Stephens?  Did quite well during the combine in the agility and 20m sprint.  Other than Noah Cumberland, no one else finished in the top 10 in both of the above.  Lovely left foot and not bad on the right also at this early stage.  Seems elusive in traffic and happy to roll out on either side.  Ability to shake down opponent in close and has break away speed.

- Some aerial X Factor via Serong or Bergman (1st in vertical jump, 2nd in running vertical jump)?  The latter on his day sounds like he can do the extraordinary.

- Hayden Young? ....who i must admit i know very little about other than some significant wraps on his kicking skills.  Came first in the agility test which is no mean feat.

Gaff, in my view, is precisely the player we need. Given his age i wouldn't give up pick three. But gaff and their first round pick (14?) might get the deal done?

Dazzle has got me sold on Hayden Young to be honest mate so i'm fairly happy with him,

option B would be to send pick 3 to the Giants and try and get say Stephens at 11, Jeremy Sharp at 18 and Jye Caldwell as well, nice boost in depth.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
