Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

THC Retention Time
  • Infrequent (less than twice/week) Smoking: When screening assays of 50 ng/mL or greater are used, urine samples will generally be positive for 1-3 days.
  • Regular (several times per week) Smoking: May result in urine specimens testing positive for 7-21 days.
  • Chronic (daily) Smoking: An individual who smokes marijuana daily for prolonged periods of time can test positive for 30 days or longer.

Just a hunch but it wouldn't shock me if Willie was more towards the regular than infrequent user.

I still think he's an idiot not a drug cheat and therefore should get the punishment for an idiot and not the punishment for a drug cheat. Dodging the test now appears more sinister - as he had something to hide, but also less sinister as all he was hiding was some weed.

I understand this was a seperate test but it makes the Eagles defence of ‘he only tampered with the sample because he couldn’t urinate and was frustrated’ look very flimsy.

Clubs, players and player managers never lie Ethan.  Wash your mouth out sir!

But as someone posted it can stay in system for up to a month. Therefore when he tampered with the sample he may have used it a few days before and he was concerned. Then second test a couple of weeks later may still show traces.

Absolutely that is feasible. THC attaches to fat cells which is why it is very hard to eliminate it - unlike cocaine, amphetamines or MDMA which leaves the body within 24 -48 hours.

This is also reason some people fail drug driving tests for THC even when they are not driving under the influence. I read somewhere that there is some dispute ATM about the efficacy of the test for THC in drug driving buses.

that's a big maybe............and we don't know to what sensitivities they test for

and if that was typical you would expect there to be a lot more players being picked up on game day

not only separate but 2 weeks after gatorgate and on a game day (+ve for cannabis)

what was he thinking, after the first episode?

People who are taking and playing for an arrogant club with history probably don't think too much at all DC.  Cousins a great example.  Thumbed his nose at the entire set up throughout most of his career.

The Meth has massive form and still going it would seem.

I tend to agree. But he is a complete fool.

You just do not pull cones during the AFL Season. There is no way he would not have known this

What I find interesting, as I understand it, the AFL don’t name a player until their second strike? Would suggest that Rioli has tested positive once already.

Yep named after two strikes, but I’m not sure if the policy differs between game-day and non game-day tests.

As an aside, if they claim ‘mental health’ issues then they’re not named publicly after the second strike. Off the top of my head I believe Tuck is the only other player to be named publicly, please someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Game day testing comes under the ASADA code, and canibus is prohibited under ASADA code only on game day, which is why it was released. It may not seem like it, but a small dose can help with calming nerves while still maintaining brain function.

Had he been found positive under the AFL illicit drugs policy, the AFL would have brushed it under the carpet like they do with most cases. Nothing to see here!

Half-time munchies? It’s seems just a blink of the eye from when quartered oranges were the cutting edge of sports science.

Why are the afl testing for cannabis? The opposite of performance enhancing.

To lose you career over smoking a joint seems insane.

I know he was dumb to it but punishment seems too much

Nothing to do with the AFL, all ASADA. Considered a PED when in competition due to reasons already posted in this thread.

They’ll blame ASADA for putting him under stress after charging him with tampering with a sample, ‘he smoked a bong or two to de-stress’.

Langdon on 6pr tonight playing the party line, pushing the recreational drug thing, stating Rioli should get no more than 12 months

FFS whatever way you look at it he's a drug cheat

a) Tampered with a test, trying to cheat the system

b) on a separate occasion tested positive to a band substance on game day

Throw the book at him, unfortunately an example needs to be made, the loopholes are closed the 3 strikes and soft on drugs policy has created this situation

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
