Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

OMac had an absolute shocker of a year, hell he even bailed out for a few weeks after the bye, came back and was still woeful.

Getting picked on has nothing to do with it.

He either can do the job or he cannot

He had a good year  in 2018 played well, so he has shown he is up to it but with lever and May hopefully playing a full year he is good depth, and if they don't well there could be trouble.

I rather have all Australian midfielder or forwards then all Australian defenders, Richmond showed that,  with Rance going down, if they did not have Lynch they would not have made top 4. Which brings the point of the post too many defenders.

2018 is irrelevant now. It’s too long ago, Teams have worked us out.

OMac as good depth, brilliant.

Hibberd is almost done, Nev could be in the same situation, we all age.

Lever has done both knees....

we are leaving ourselves wide open

You're absolutely right, it says he's one of a handful of players to play most games in an injury ravaged year.

Had Oscar not been the previously annointed one, would be interesting to see what value (if any) he would have carried in the trade period.

His contract alone would have been in excess of any player value.

In a backline bedevilled by injury, Oscar was not even worth picking for a game.

I believe that speaks volumes about his worth.

We still carry way too many VFL players on our list.

I have come to terms with the Frost departure

Let's face it,  the area that Sam is lacking in is his actual disposal efficiency and his decision making.

Comparisons to Oscar are onerous as well ... we are highly likely to bolster our KPP stocks although I did think that with the Hogan departure.  Petty can be the answer but he is very young.

So let's hope the club realises where its deficiencies lie.  We need another key back and another key forward.  Upgrades.

That's how I see it.

Wrong. He did his left knee twice.

He himself has said the first reco when he was a junior was not managed well.

We have plenty of defensive options. We should focus on improving our forward stocks.

Ok. Thought it was both knees. Still a worry & to be shipping out our best defender this year is a Huge gamble, but it’s done now, so we all have to observe and hope it rolls.

The Forward line... will it work next year?

it’s almost toss a coon....

Hopefully not Picket.

He may or may not turn into a better player at the Hawks but my concern is that we can ill afford to lose him.

I understand that trading players has become a normal facet of the game.

But I reckon that the decision to sack Frosty sends a poor message to the players as a whole.

That irrespective of form and performance you can be traded.

Sure good players and champions get traded but most of these guys leave for personal reasons or get lucrative offers too good to refuse.

But Frost was left with no choice because we made no offer, in short we did not value him or want him.

Some folks argue that the players and managers have got too greedy, but given the way clubs behave these days, it is not surprising.

As a player, I would see the Frost departure as another reason to put self interest before loyalty to the club. .

If that's a genuine metric then Omac is a star and Patrick Dangerfield is a hack.

I think the Frost trade to the Hawks, under the tutelage of the world’s greatest coach will be facinating to watch next season. In my opinion Frost’s learning curve is still on the up, as he is a great athlete not a natural footballer, so needs time which we had run out of. With us I thought under immense pressure he learnt to play within his limitations with short kicks to position when he was running forward and free but yes turned it over when facing the wrong way. And he at times punched the ball back into the corridor but a lot of this goes back to our coaching I think.

The Hawks defence is much more composed than ours and as I rank the 2020 Hawks as very likely to finish top 6, I suspect Frosty may shine. It will be interesting to see how they cover his deficiencies and play to his strengths.

Surely if Clarko moulds him into a potential AA superstar ..... then he would already have been a potential AA superstar before Clarko started coaching him.

Not now 'Earl'...they aren't the Hawks of old.

Frawley and Stratton closer to the end.

Hardwick & Sicily good younger players.

...but they don't have the razor sharp kicking they had before, Birchall the last of their great kicks from the back half gone.

They may push Burgoyne back but truthfully he's gone at least one season too many.

It's a bit of a ragged bunch and Frost only adds to that mix.

Oscar can become a better player as stated previously.  See a few posts above.  Whether that happens or not is up to Oscar.  And Petty might come on

But it's our forward line where the bigger problems lie.  Unless we fix that we won't progress far up the ladder

I was concerned about our forward line going into the season and was one of the few here that opened up the possibility that we might regress down to 10 wins because of that.  But 5 wins?  No one picked that.

How people can be happy with T-Mac & Weideman as our KPF's really surprises me.  I'm not sold on either.  Whether we can somehow find an alternative is a big ask too.  Maybe later on in the draft but I still reckon we might make a trade for a tall KPF from elsewhere as a 3rd option.  There's Joel Smith (maybe) but he can't get on the park.

I agree mostly with what you are saying. I just don't trust May and Lever's ability to stay injury free and when they are injured have we got the cover we WILL need. God I hope I'm wrong about O'Mac, and my injury concerns with our back-line.

I think Smith's retirement will prove to be a big loss with the forwards.

Hopefully we can get Tomlinson to play the swingman type role if need be and he can provide cover in that instance. He’s coming a fair bit cheaper than what old chicken with his head cut off is asking.

On SEN last week Frost said he was waiting to hear from Melbourne on a ‘fresh deal’. He’d been offered one earlier in the season but rejected it.

LOL (chicken head).........Ethan I hope I'm wrong, you say a fair bit cheaper, where/on who is the big money going ?

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
