Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Don't combine my judgment with Reiwoldt's.

Riewoldt is an idiot, but also was pushing an agenda when he went with this.

You're right...I had extreme difficulty putting your judgement in the same sentence.

What agenda is that?

BTW, glad you think our culture is better with Watts, Frost and Sulk out the door.  I am so please we are left with the onfield demonstrations of Melky, (Lewis retired but left his mark no doubt), Oliver, May, and co. to overtly set things right, pointing the finger, and put other players back in their place.

Our culture apparently got rid of dead weight when Howe, Dunn, Kent, Watts and Hoges got sent packing.  Remember the MFC officials and brains-trust that used to accuse Scully of "over-training".  FCS, no wonder he left.  So would have I, and the majority in his position.  Irrelevant that a dying man put him under the gun and asked "are you staying?".

You guys just re-write the narrative when the club makes a decision.  It is going to great thread to re-hash when Clarko uses Frosty well, and the Hawks catapult into the window again.

Thank you Sam Frost, you gave your all for the Red & Blue and played some great games for us, I will miss that "heart in the mouth" feeling whenever you grabbed the ball and headed out of defense. I will miss you as that excitement machine (Frostball) and hope that you have a good career with the Hawks just not when you play Us.

Go Sam....................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no opinion on the actual trade, but I always find it amazing how some things play out.  When we lost Frawley, we went after Frost as his replacement.  Fast forward a few years and now Frost and Frawley will be playing along side each other but not at Melbourne!

yeah maybe but that's where the problem & problems lie.  Frost comes from a great family & from all reports, terrific character, & work ethic, which makes  his trade even more mesmerizing.

Did he ask Hirdy for the good stuff?

Just love how club sycophants/apologists/supporters/back-slappers put a cloud on the behavior of whoever is turfed out.  Howe, Watts, Frost......  Great insurance if it comes back to bite; and settles the nervous nellies like me who are laughing out loud at the club's decision.

If you'd been paying any attention, I've been saying Frost would go for months now.
But accuracy has never been your strong point.

Happy for you to let me know when Frost gets a new contract at Hawthorn, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

How's your mate Terry Wallace?

So we have traded out the best backman of 2019.

I still don't understand that we appear to have had no love for him in the FD.

But I guess they did such a good job for us this year so why question their ability.

He had his best year and maybe was our best backman (behind Salem) but it wasn't like he had much competition with May, Lever, Hibberd and Jetta in and out of the side all year with injuries. Petty was swung up forward towards the back half of the year too so didn't get to see him much in his proper position. From the 10 or so games I watched of Petty at Casey and by reports he had a very consistent year and is building nicely.

I think he was effective and most definitely improved this year but I think people are over rating him also. Sure he takes the game on and his speed and intensity help him in one on one situations but he absolutely kills you with his turnovers. 1/5 times when he does something exciting with the ball does it actually come off. He's not a natural kick and his decision making hasn't improved. I don't think this will change at Hawthorn.

Now I was an advocate for holding onto him for depth even if it meant playing behind Petty. But clearly doesn't fit into our long term plans and there's a reason.

Shish...we all see what we want to see.

I see Frost for Langdon.

With some minor drops in minor picks which with smart selections won't matter.  How is that not a massive win. We lose a player in a position we have 5 players on the list for and pick up a player who has something we are desperate for.

Pick 22 downgrade to 26  this year in a dud draft where we might have our eyes on a player at 22 who would still be there at 26 so no loss.

Pick 42 to pick 50 in a dud draft. A pick is only worth what player you get with it. These picks will be a lottery anyway. We might end up with a better player at 50 than 42. I'm not concerned with this one.

Next years second rounders. We give up ours for Langdon and get back Hawks which should be a higher pick than ours next year.

Win, win and win.  That's what I see

Bingo.

100% disagree that we have not done well in this deal. it is clear we wanted him out. Just as we wanted Watts out. I was dead against that deal but acknowledged that i didn't have all the information as to what the real reasons were for that decision.

I don't rate frost very highly, certainly nowhere near Watts, though i like him a player and have nothing against him.

Yes he made top 10 in the bluey, but please he only juts made the top 10 and how could he fail not to to given he played very game in season where we finished 17th, were ravaged by injury (particularly down back) and almost every player on the list  played a game.

But in any case I'm guessing  (and only guessing) the reason for wanting him out is related to culture more than ability. Yes i'm partially basing that on isolated recent comments in this thread (that i have no reason to doubt given i trust the posters based on their history) but the club has made it abundantly clear it had no intention of keeping him. He was always 100% Maxy gawn.

In that context we have done well to get some value out of the deal.

You only have to look at the situation with Jenkins and the crows to see what can happen when it is clear a player in on the outer. It's a bit different because Jenkins has made it clear he wants out and the relationship seems to have completely broken down. But it is analogous in so far as in both circumstances the club want both players out the door.

No one would suggest Frost is better, more valuable player than Jenkins, yet i guarantee we will get more from the respective trades than the crows will. For Pete's sake the crows will have to pay some of his salary to get him out the door.

No issues with the trade itself Bin.  However, was it a well managed player relationship?  I have my doubts on that.  Never air your dirty laundry in public always holds true.  And none less so at trade time.

Just play the game with a smile and try and max what's coming back.

Had we done that i think we come out in a neutral position with either a ready made experienced (excess) Hawk player or if that wasn't happening, slightly better on the numbers given he did finish top 10.

Rumours are just rumours until proven otherwise Bin.  If you wish to latch on to them to back your rationale then all power to you.

We all rate players differently and while Frost was no match winner and had his flaws i thought his result this season justified a slightly better result on this transaction.  Because everyone rates a player differently we will all come up with various rationale to justify our position and in many cases the varying rationale will never be agreed to or it might depending on an observer's view of said player.

And i'm not saying we were given a severe rodgering up the khyber pass either....just bent over and given a bit of spanking.  No harm done and we move on.

Poor attitude, I'll leave it there.

So you are besmirching a person's character from behind the anonymity of an online nickname, most can recognse me in public, so I can say that, as i don't hide who I am

You can't leave it at that because that is the behavioural pattern of a troll

Frosty seems to be right at home with some of his team 'mates' in the US at the moment, or is he associating with other poor characters still at the club

I fully get the “Flaws” in Frosty’s game, what worries me far more is what is left of our backline.

Hibberd: reactions and pace slowing

Nev: father time has almost got him

May: he Must fire in 2020, play a full Season.

Lever: Wonky Knees

Oscar: VFL Standard in 2019, it was embarrassing to watch. No wonder he took time out.

Frost had a bad attitude that nobody is willing to elaborate on.

As i said a few weeks ago, Clarkson will be stoked. He got a solid unit for basically nothing, that the MFC didn’t rate

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
